I use it both solo and with others frequently and it's one of my favorite tools. It is fantastic as you can be in just about any position to do it and it can benefit a number of moods. So get yourself comfortable and if you'd like to adjust along the way don't commit yourself to any particular position. Begin breathing consciously. Slow down if need be, relax your shoulders, your jaw, your eyebrows. As you create a comfortable pace and depth for your breath take one hand and place it to the opposite shoulder, if that is not comfortable do not force it and rest your hand toward the opposite elbow. Continue your breaths. Bring your other hand to its opposite shoulder or elbow. Your forearms can now rest across your chest or abdomen. Breathe in this position. Notice that you are holding yourself. Allow your hands to give an affirming squeeze. Caress where your hands rest. You can also shrug your shoulders and stretch them out, roll your neck in circles or back and forth. Get cozy. This is a hug between you and yourself. This is a hug between you and your soul. I recommend at least one a day. It can be quick or you can stay in this space as long as you'd like. It's a comforting position to be in while you're nervous, excited, doing self affirmations, or just want to give yourself some love. I will use this is several of our guided meditations.
