The drops splash,
the walls shine wet,
the little belly glistens in the reflection.
A goldfish darts by,
nothing else;
the sea is closed all around,
all ships forgotten.
Oh, take your forehead away from these walls,
Let your eyelids go,
you little image!
Are you asleep?
dreaming?
waking up?
Oh boy, come,
Do not leave this place,
Embrace the shining,
the wetness!
It drips easily
In the reflection.
(Gottfried Benn)
