Raw footage of me painting a new sunset (Part 2/2) ๐ผ all this daydreaming of Bali has me more excited about sunsets than ever. Iโm obsessed with sunsets. It feels like my most important moment of the day. I run to the roof or the beach or the street to catch the setting sun. Iโm sad when I miss it or forget to look for it. I started painting sunsets years ago to escape into warm fantasies. ๐ด๐โ๏ธ I think I painted my first sunset in the deep dark depressing January or February that hits seattle every year. Seasonal โwtf do I live here?! mood disorderโ.
Right now Iโm experimenting with making small sunsets โ 8โx12โ on wood with acrylic and spray paint. Iโm layering up the textures so the paintings are thick and pop off the canvas with interesting depth. I paint mountains in front of the sunset horizon so with the modeling goop I can actually form mountains that lift up and come at you. You can run your fingers along their ridges. Iโve decided that when paintingโฆmore texture is better. โ๐ผ
What is your favorite thing about sunsets? Favorite place to watch them? Can you remember a special one?
