Dev blog 02 | Drawing with Nat | Small tweaks
🕑 Added 2024-11-08 16:08:59 +0000 UTCHeres my second blog post!
I've currently been busy with Patreon rewards and commissions, so I haven't been as productive on the game this week, but I still have some updates to share with you all!
Berry Woods:
Berry Woods has now mostly been completed. All of the new areas have the common trees and some small ponds. The only things left to work on in this area is remove the placeholder "X" tiles and update the triggers that connect to other worlds. These will be done much later on when the update is near completion.
Heres a before and after on the overall size of Berry Woods: https://imgur.com/Y3HZCyp As you can see, its now much much larger than before!
Oh and I added a bench to this world, just for fun: https://imgur.com/qVqXENx
Owl Folk World:
This world is getting some small updates. Whilst the layout is remaining identical to before I plan on adding some more little touches to it to make the world feel a bit more interesting. Currently the only new addition is now the Owl statues in this world glow/pulsate instead of just remaining static.
It's hard for me to show this off in game, so heres an example of the sprite sheet: https://imgur.com/yX9Qjim You can see it gets brighter towards the left and darker on the right. Every statue in this world is now like this.
I also did some event clearing to this world too, removing unnecessary events that tiles could easily replace.
The last few things I would like to do to this world is add some new tiles to the area. Currently this world uses one animated tile, I plan on adding some static ones to again hopefully make the area look a bit more interesting.
Planned layout changes:
Lastly I can share my rough diagram of the games new map, including some planned new areas. Since the Crossroads/Endless Walkways is being removed from the game I have to replan how a bunch of worlds are connected. The areas in Green are old areas that are getting major updates to them, and the areas in Red are brand new. https://imgur.com/undefined
The major changes for the older worlds are how they're all connected:
Bone World no longer connects to the Crossroads/Endless Walkways
Pattern World no longer connects to Owl folk World
Owl Folk World no longer connects to the Dark Cave (Not final)
Eraser World now connects to Slime World (Slime World renamed and reworked to a paint themed world)
Dark Cave now connects to 2 new worlds, mushroom world and Shadow Woods
The Grinning faces area now connects to a new chessboard themed area.
This rough draft isn't final and things could easily change over time.
That's all for now!
