The Drydock - Episode 333
🕑 Added 2025-01-18 09:18:35 +0000 UTC00:00:00 - Intro
00:00:42 - What led to the development of the US Navy’s cage mast?
00:05:16 - Was the XXI the first submarine class to be built at different locations and then put together like a German version of IKEA furniture, or was that concept developed before?
00:07:40 - Were there ever any plans to use the advancements that led to the XXI and XXIII classes in a major modenisation program for existing german subs like type VII and IXs?
00:12:10 - Why did the Germans want HMS Ark Royal sunk so badly?
00:16:28 - Did any nations have dedicated "horse carrier" ships to help them move cavalry or artillery pulling horses?
00:21:22 - What actually are the differences between Super-dreadnoughts and later battleships?
00:27:04 - Neither of us are alternate history fans. With that aside, what are your thoughts about the Venetian idea to dig the Suez canal earlier, to cut-off the Portuguese that were rounding the horn, and it's repercussions globally?
00:31:10 - Venturi effect on the Holland Tunnel?
00:37:59 - Where the fast battleships mis-used in the Pacific?
00:45:47 - How did the air/water purge systems in a battleships guns survive the gun being fired?
00:47:38 - When a ship is decommissioned and scrapped, what happens to all the decor and loose items like furniture, silverware, bedding etc?
00:50:28 - Other the refitting the Scharnhorst with Bismarck's 38 cm SK C/34 guns, what other equipment or changes would be prudent for the Scharnhorst's refit (assuming Germany's infrastructure could handle it and they magically had enough funds and resources to accomplish it)?
00:54:56 - Why was the coal to oil conversion not so common in warships?
01:01:53 - In a universe where the commonwealth nations were negotiated separately in the Naval treaties, would any of them have even been physically able to upkeep their namesake capital ships, or was their scrapping a foregone conclusion?

Other than a sink-ex, how did they protect or prevent the radio control target ships from becoming an artificial reef and did they have other uses as well?
