The Drydock - Episode 357
🕑 Added 2025-07-05 08:00:04 +0000 UTC00:00:00 - Intro
00:00:37 - Why did the IJN even try (though fail) to meet treaty limits for their cruisers if they were still planning to lie about their displacements?
00:05:09 - Why no Italian battlecruisers?
00:11:29 - Where the Baltimore class conversions any good?
00:15:51 - What made the Oregon City subtype distinct from the Baltimores?
00:17:50 - Bombers, carriers and magazines, oh my!
00:25:27 - Why did the Kriegsmarine not deploy Admiral Hipper and Admiral Scheer together for Operation Nordseetour?
00:29:39 - In the modern day, we've seen the advent of remote-controlled sea drones to great effect and at relatively low cost. Were there any kind of equivalent in WWII and prior, excluding the human-guided kamikaze variety?
00:31:16 - Did the United States or UK ever consider adding Autogyros to their Carrier compliments? Either for fleet or escort carriers?
00:34:11 - What was the cruise of the Special Service Squadron?
00:36:01 - Of all the paper designs in World of Warships, which ones do you think are the most realistically plausible and which ones not so much?
00:42:43 - Did the Fleet Air Arm Martlets/ Wildcats or Wildcats from USS Ranger (or escort carriers) come face to face with Luftwaffe or Regia Aeronautica fighters? If so, how did it go?
00:47:10 - If Yorktown had survived Midway when do you think it would have been ready to rejoin the war?
00:53:08 - How would Enterprise have handled Operation Crossroads?
00:56:04 - How did WW2 scouts mistake carriers for other ships and vice versa?
01:01:08 - How effective were Japan's other Pearl Harbor-esque attacks on allied ports using carrier aviation, and how long did it take the Allies to improve their defences and start repelling these sorts of attacks?
01:04:30 - Have you found confirmation that the County class really were fitted for additional armor, or is it still just speculation?

If Yorktown wasn't sunk at Midway. Don't forget that this would require another fleet oiler and another screening group of ships that can't go into the Slot.

So basically Japan was trying to be a bit more subtle than Hitler’s honestly-it’s-a-35,000-ton-Bismarck
