"Dude, the food here is amazing!" Layla shouted as she jumped through a portal and onto the couch... and right next to Hazel who had been sitting there peacefully just a moment before.
"Yipe!" Hazel shouted, snapping her view over to Layla as the rest of her body froze.
"Oh shit, sorry... didn't mean to scare you," Layla chuckled, rubbing the back of her head.
"It's... fine. I'll get used to it, I'm not used to how fast you can make portals." The catcoon, quickly recovering from the shock of her girlfriend suddenly showing up, looked over to the pink shark with a smile. "You were saying about food? The food Clearwater, you mean?" Hazel asked. She very quickly noticed the rotund belly that Layla sported that wasn't there this morning. It poked out from underneath her shirt and wobbled back and forth with Layla's movement. Hazel could feel her face getting warmer just looking at it, deciding to try and look Layla in the eyes in an attempt not to stare. "Eheh... you definitely look like you've been enjoying something."
"Damn right! I just stopped in at a new place during my break and it's so good!" Layla said, holding up a brown paper bag and giving Hazel as a toothy grin. The brown paper bag had a logo of a burger on it, and the word "Burg" in big black lettering. It was also drenched in grease.
Hazel blinked. She had heard of this establishment from gossip at the café. "Burg... right. They have that huge one called the Belt Buster that is loaded up with calories." She quickly glanced down to Layla's bulging gut and then back up. "I, uh... assume that's what you got?"
Layla grinned and nodded. "It's soooo good, Hazel. I'll probably be going back in a sec to grab a few more, but the line is still really long, so... I might as well just sit here with you and eat this one I have here!"
"M-Mo... A few more!?" Hazel sputtered. The statement was so absurd given how fat it had made the shark just forty-five minutes after she had left the apartment for lunch that Hazel couldn't help but giggle. "You know what, Lay? I think you're crazy..."
Layla scooted over right next to Hazel and pulled her in, squishing her into her soft, plush, burger-engorged body. "Yeah? Well, you won't think I'm crazy after you try one."
Hazel's mind spun at the thought, her face morphing into a goofy, unsure smile. "Uh, uhm... eheh... m-maybe I'll try one if you wanted to get one for me...! I don't know, I, uh..."
"Aw, I didn't mean to embarrass ya." Layla leaned in and pecked Hazel on the cheek. "But... you and I both know that we like it when we get big and round, Hay."
Hazel, feeling a little more sure after Layla's affectionate kiss, put a hand on Layla's chunky belly and lightly squished it in her grip. She gave Layla a genuine smile. "Yeah... no doubt about that."
