Weekly Update - Exercise Ball and Dilation System
🕑 Added 2022-02-26 00:06:35 +0000 UTCHi guys, Hope you all are well. I believe many of you can agree this week has been an incredibility difficult week for the world. Im deeply saddened by what is happening in Ukraine that im honestly at a loss for words. I had to really force myself to keep working because otherwise I would just spend all day refreshing the news online. Im struggling to find the right words to say, please stay safe and cherish what you have.
And here are the things I managed to accomplish this week.
I finished creating the exercise ball which you can bring with your sim to the hospital. Using the exercise ball will help speed up the dilation (i know that's not necessarily how it works irl, but I wanted to make sure there are some kind of rewards for using it) it comes in a total of 6 swatches for now. if you have a request for a more colors feel free to leave a comment
when using the exercise ball your sim will perform 3 different movements:
Bouncing
side to side stretch
and circular motion
the ball can be used by non pregnant sim but they will use the same animations
the second thing i added is that your sim's water will now break after they arrive at the hospital, it will create a big puddle and they will get this moodlet
The next thing I did is creating the dilation system. The maximum amount of time your sim will take before they go into active labor is now 2 days. There are things you can do such as using the exercise ball to help speed up the process if you dont want to wait that long. Currently im thinking about adding the option to allow sims to take a walk to help induce labor. I will need to look into that further.
when your sim arrive at the hospital they will get one of three moodlets, here is one of them
when they become more dilated they will one of three moodlets again. if they get the epidural they will get a happy moodlet with a different message
when they are ready to give birth, they will once again get one of three moodlets depending on whether or not they got the epidural
The last thing I did is creating the "check dilation" animation. it currently looks like this in game, i think i might have to make the sim wear a shorter gown temporarily(like they do when giving birth) because you can't see the details of the animations and I worry it might be hard to tell what they are doing🤔

However Im currently running into 2 bugs
- After a sim ask for epidural, sometimes the epidural injection animation wouldnt play but they will get the epidural moodlet anyways 😓
- when the obstetrician check for dilation you are supposed to get a notification saying " you are x centimeter dilated etc etc" but currently the notification is refusing to show up😩
Hopefully I will figure them out next week. I will also be starting on the c-section animations next week, time to watch some c-section videos I guess o.O lol

Playing it now and I love it!! A suggestion, if it’s possible: my sim keeps getting up and walking around and going to different beds, would you be able to make them stay in one bed? Especially after they get an epidural. Thank you so much, I’ve always hated that robot machine birth and have been looking for a realistic birth mod for years!

I'm not sure if this is a good idea but maybe there should be an option(that randomly generates) where your water does and doesn't break. If it doesn't break maybe y ou baby should be born in the sack (gives them a better swimming skill as they age up) or the doctor could break your water as well. Also maybe there should be an animation for you to have a placenta and the sim can choose what to do with it. They could eat it and earn something, they could plant it, or they could discard it as well.

This is amazing. I had a c-section birth so let me know if you have questions. I think if a sims has a c-section then there should be like a red moodlet of uncomfortable recovery for like a day. That would be realistic. Just a thought. Don't wanna tell you what to do. As I said this is amazing and am looking forward to the mod!

You are so amazing! You have changed the sim world for the good! I was in labor for 3 days and was a hour short of getting a c section when I finally dilated to 9 cms from 4 cms. Guess my daughter heard them talking and wanted to come home naturally. You may wanna ad a interaction where a intervention for a C-section could happen if something is wrong. My daughter was 3 weeks early and deficated in her sack and got hung up and they almost had to break my pelvic bone.
