Modding Diary - Next steps

This week I started planning the next update for the child birth mod😋
Some of the things I am planning are things I’ve been wanting to make for a long time and some of them are things you guys have suggested! So let’s go down the list of what I have so far!
1. Getting an ultrasound scan
I want to it possible for pregnant sims to go to the hospital and get an ultrasound (either by themselves or with a partner). They will get a picture of the ultrasound at the end of their visit which they can show it to their loved ones and hang the picture on their fridge. Hopefully they will also know how many babies they are pregnant with, but I need to see if I can find a reliable way to detect that.
2. Showing the positive pregnancy test to a loved one
I want sims to be able to share the news of their pregnancy by showing the positive pregnancy test to their partner or friends. The animation will have different variations, most sims will have a happy reaction, sims who have the "hates children" trait (or sims who have an unwanted pregnancy using RPO) will have a sad/upset reaction.
3.Birth Emergencies
This is something many people have been suggesting. Birth emergencies can occur while a sim is in early labor. Sims who are doing natural birth might need to get an emergency C-section if their dilation is going too slowly or if their baby's heart rate is too low. There will be an option to turn off emergency situations for players who want to stick to their birth plans.
4. Stretch Marks and C-section scars after birth
Sims will get stretch marks or C-section scars after giving birth. Using creams/ointments will help the marks to fade faster. There will be an option to turn off scarring for players who do not want this much realism.
5.Cuddling in bed during pregnancy
Pregnant sims can cuddle with their partner in bed during the early stages of their pregnancy, partners can talk to the baby and kiss the pregnant sim's belly etc.
6. Napping together on the couch
Sims who are in labor can take naps on the couch with their partner, this interaction will fill both sims energy needs.
7. Giving birth alone??
This is something that has been suggested by quite a few people, and it is certainly something I am interested in making. There is not alot of real life examples I can use for reference so I would like to know what type of birth position would you guys like to see? I can do something like giving birth on a birth stool? standing up?? lying on the bed? or kneeling on the floor? leave a comment and let me know what you want to see!
I know many of you are wondering if I will be adding animations for twins and triplets for home birth. That is something I have decided not to do at this time.😔 The main reason is because the system I am using to detect how many babies are born is not very reliable. The hospital birth animation do support up to 3 babies, however sometimes the animation don't match the actual numbers of babies, sims who gave birth to 1 babies are shown giving birth to 3 and vice-versa. But if I find a more reliable way one day I will be sure to revisit the animations.

If the water break early in the pregnancy before your due date that would be cool but I know it would be hard to have your baby stay in the hospital like an NICU situation but I agree with the if you and Lumpinou or LittleMsSam made a mod together I would literally cry you 3 are my top mods

Ooh, I'm curious about the Ultrasound add-on! I currently use an Ultrasound mod made by LitteMsSam, & It's pretty reliable on how many babies the sim is having & what the babies' genders are (at least in my experience using the mod) I'm pretty sure it's on their Tumblr page, Maybe you could look there & maybe ask them on what they used to make the mod/try the mod out for yourself for ideas. I'd love to see more animations with the pregnant sim & their family/friends, even if they're small moments. Maybe animations with the pregnant sim interacting with their other children animations would be interesting; Like a child or toddler sim feeling their mother's tummy for example. Keep up the good work!

For giving birth alone, what I have seen is squatting with back against the wall. or on all fours for pushing and then push into a kneeling position for actual birth?

#7 would be a great addition! Birthing alone or unassisted would add more depth to the mod. Squatting or sitting/lying in bed/floor/tub maybe? Or even have breathing/swaying while leaning on a counter/chair/couch?

It would be so amazing if you could create a birthing place lot with the mod and helps them travel to the lot instead of the hospital if they chose natural or water birth.

LOVE IT ! thank you I really appreciate your work and I'm sooooo excited to see what you'll do in the future 💙, do you think you could create : - a maternity hospital ? - have moms staying longer at the maternity ? - have maternity nurses ? taking care of the baby during the night - have special cribs for premature babies and have them on monitor ? possible chances of not survive?

Your work is amazing, you're so talented!! Love all of the above ideas, especially #5&6 are so cute!! If possible would love to see more interactions where the pregnant sim's partner can be more involved in the early stages of pregnancy like give belly rubs, talk to the baby, feel baby kicks etc..
Interactions with children during labor, I had my sim have a home birth and his child was home and worried about their parent. It would be nice to have them able to help comfort their parent or be involved.

I know it's kind of like a sad request but what if there was an option for a stillborn to make it a little more realistic?

I would like to a longer stay in the hospital for the mother sim and the dad can come and visit after work and to have premature babies have to stay in the hospital longer. And if the mother could pack a hospital bag. If you create when they could eat ice chips it can it fill their hungry needs since you techinally cant after active labor, This mod is wonderful and you are truly gifted

This all sounds fantastic! I can’t wait to see what you’ll make! Would the birth complications/emergencies include breech births maybe? Or a twisted cord? I actually was wondering if there’d ever be a “cut the cord” situation or if it’s even possible to have the umbilical cord be present. Something else I’d love to see more of would be interactions with the partner. I love the breathing exercise animation and the yoga ball stuff and it would be great to see both the birthing sim and their partner doing it together. Also holding hands 🥺
Maybe have the pregnant sim go through postpartum depression or anxiety after they gave birth? I know, it sounds depressing, but it is realistic as well, plus it would be powerful and have great story potential for the mother sim getting through the hardest part of parenthood, and overcoming it through the partner's support, family support or therapy, and becomes stronger as a result. I was also thinking either a gender reveal party and/or a baby shower would be really cute. Also...... maybe more father and newborn baby bonding animations? :3 it was really adorable with the bed birth animation, but it would be sweet if the father of the child gets to hold their baby at the hospital and pool birth for example.
