News, the good kind!
🕑 Added 2021-01-19 19:14:27 +0000 UTCThe past year has been weird. And we mean, very weird. You’re probably well aware of what happened in the World, so we’re not going to state the obvious. Instead, we’ll tell you how last year went for our game and our team.
We wouldn't be lying if we say that 2020 was the most successful for us so far. An absolute record on all fronts, seriously! Starting from the most noticeable change – our community has expanded immensely! The amount of support we've received lately is truly something, and we can hardly put our gratitude into words. It just wouldn't be enough.
It was your colossal support that helped us to achieve many of our goals. For example, the fact that our staff has doubled over the past year: From three to six people, with three of them working full-time on ACADEMY34 without having to look for a side job. You made it possible and it’s absolutely fantastic!
More people - more workforce, and therefore over the past year we set many new personal records: The record for the number of updates released, for the number of new images and unique visual content for scenes. But let’s talk numbers…
Over 2020 we have released 7 major content updates (versus 4 updates in 2019), that is one update every 50 days. This is an amazing result and a huge step towards the monthly releases we are aiming for. Hopefully in the new year we will finally achieve that goal! Well, or get even closer to it.
517 NEW PICTURES WERE ADDED INTO THE GAME! These include frames from scenes, new and updated sprites, new locations, interactive objects, and, basically, everything that you see in the game.
But more importantly...
182 UNIQUE FRAMES FOR SCENES! For comparison, it the entirety of 2019 we added a TOTAL 275 images, of which only 77 were unique frames for scenes. We doubled the production, and all this was possible even though we hired a second artist only 4 months ago. Imagine what we can achieve at this pace next year!
The experience we gained over the past year has also shown us that the current model for the route releases... is far from ideal. We are unhappy with how long players must wait for updates featuring the character they are interested in and how many updates are released without full H-scenes. We are going to tackle the solution to this problem immediately after the finale of Mei's storyline. Our main goal is to give enough story and visual content with each update to deliver for both the time you spent waiting and the money you donated to support our project.
The ability to forget about side jobs has played a huge role in all of the above, and our core team members can finally devote as much time to development as physically possible.
We hope that in a year we will have a reason to write a similar post and once again tell you about new records. But this requires a lot of work! So that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Sometimes we envy ourselves for what an amazing community we've built around our game. You’re all breathtaking!
