One thing I accomplished this year was improving my work ethic in school. When I got to high school, I was a mess. I failed my freshman year and got held back. During my freshman/sophomore year, I kind of changed my ways and got a little bit better. But my junior year is really where I started to do better. I passed all my classes—not with great grades, but I did pass. Now it’s my senior year, and I have two A’s, two B’s, and one C (we don’t talk about that). I’m a really changed person from three years ago, and I’m just really proud of myself this year.

I actually like that this came with a personal question. In this year, I achieved something I never thought was possible.. surviving and trying to find the strength in my life at it's worse. I RECENTLY turned 18 and should’ve felt free, but instead, I found myself homeless, rejected, and alone. My mother (who I lived with most of my life) was neglectful and verbally abusive, and when I looked for another home (safety, protection, a haven) with other family members, they turned me away because of my beliefs. Even my father, who is financially stable but emotionally and physically distant, decided for EVERYONE that I should leave. With nowhere to go, I was put on a plane and told to figure it out on my own. It was like he threw money straight at my face.. as if it was going to solve everything.. For a while, it felt like that no one didn’t want me, and I struggled to believe I had any worth. But somehow, through all the rejection and neglect, I found my will to keep going. I’ve been staying temporarily with a friend; and in this new environment and space, I’ve gotten more comfortable with drawing again.. a passion that’s been my best friend since I was 3. This year, I overcame something mentally: my fear of judgment, not being accepted, being comfortable with my beliefs. I used to draw through the times where I was afraid, fearful and neglected.. but now I can draw.. peacefully. When I put down my pencil, I don't hear anything negative or have the feeling of being uncomfortable, I feel.. safe. I’m still healing, I still tell myself that it isn't my fault, and I still draw. My goal this year, was to get out of that household (whoever it was) and to pursue my dream of being an Artist. Thank you, @camssimz for asking. i’ve always wanted to go into acting since i was a kid, i’ve recently turned 18, moved out and started doing small jobs. i’ve been on the sherri show and even small student films. it be your own family that makes you feel bad for wanting more. and without anyone’s help i’ve been able to do get a start at doing what i want to do. with no agency, booking everything by myself.
