"Hey Tom, have started following you since 6 months. I still curse my self why didn’t I follow you since 2021, that’s when I started investing.
This is Martin and living in Germany.
I have started my investment with Lucid stock from SPAC stage around 18€ and then made around 8k Euros in profit.
Bought 200 shares of Lucid in 2021 December at 46€ and then from there my bad luck has started. The stock has continuously been continuously falling down and I have been continuously averaging it down.
By December 2024 I had 15.000 Lucid shares with average price of 8,2€.
Since 2023 I have started investing in S&P 500 as monthly 1.000€ and dumping whenever I have some cash. Now my portfolio is 76K with a profit of 13k.
Invested 20k in Gold and now it is 30K
From 2021 to 2024 I was only averaging the lucid and have pumped in 134k Euros. Then I have realized my mistakes started diversifying my portfolio.
I have invested in Tesla, Palantir, SOFI, NVIDIA, AMD, APlovin, BABA and ONON.
From 100k losses to now I am down to 50k loss.
Could you please advise me how to go forward?"
EVERYBODY KNOWS THE RULES
❌ No stock picks.
❌ No “buy this, sell that” nonsense.
❌ No hand holding: just brutal truth on whether your portfolio is actually built to last.
If you can’t handle real feedback, this ain’t for you. But if you want to build real wealth and stop making rookie mistakes, this is where you fix your blind spots. Simple as that.
BIG PICTURE
Portfolio Value: €159,753.70
Total Loss: -€50,488.73 (-24.01%)
Biggest Problem: Lucid is absolutely wrecking the returns.
Best Performer: Palantir (+€14,574, +69.86%)
This portfolio isn't bad overall, but it's heavily skewed by one terrible performer, going all in on Lucid. Without Lucid, you'd probably be solidly in the green.
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
🔥 The Good:
✅ Palantir (PLTR): €35,436 (+€14,574, +69.86%)
This is carrying your portfolio right now.
If you’re still bullish, great
✅ On Holding (ONON): €10,185 (+€1,063, +11.66%)
Solid gain, but watch valuation, this is a high growth, high expectation stock.
✅ Nvidia (NVDA): €13,426 (+€537, +4.17%)
The AI beast, but already a massive company.
Future growth needs to justify the high valuation.
✅ Alibaba (BABA): €10,980 (+€93, +0.85%)
Basically flat, this is more of a China macro bet than a tech bet at this point.
🤷 The Mediocre: Your Small Red Positions
❌ Sofi (SOFI): €19,396 (-€380, -1.93%)
Not a huge loss, but watch this one—it’s still a speculative play in fintech.
Are you actually bullish on Sofi long term, or did you just buy because it’s “cheap”?
❌ AMD: €22,052 (-€1,943, -8.10%)
Decent company, but why do you have both NVDA and AMD?
Do you really need two competing chip stocks?
🚨 The Ugly: Lucid (The Titanic of Your Portfolio)
🚨 Lucid: €48,277.75 (-€64,432, -57.17%)
This stock single handedly wrecked your entire portfolio.
Your average price is way higher than the market is valuing it, which means the market doesn’t believe in it.
Question: If you didn’t already own Lucid, would you buy it today? If the answer is no, why are you still holding it?
💡 Reality Check:
If Lucid doubled from here, you’d still only be breaking even.
You’ve locked up €48K in a stock that’s lost nearly €65K in value.
🚨 Brutal truth: If you put that €48K into literally any competent company, you’d already be way ahead. This is a sunk cost, continuing to hold just because you “want to break even” is a gambler’s mindset, not an investor’s.
3. What’s Next?
🚀 Fixing the Portfolio: Smart Principles
1️⃣ Diversify Intelligently
Right now, Lucid is dictating your entire portfolio performance.
You’ve started fixing this with SP500, TSLA, PLTR, etc.—keep going.
2️⃣ DCA the Right Way
Keep investing every month, but do it strategically.
SP500 is a smart choice for consistent growth—don't stop that.
3️⃣ Stop Being Emotionally Attached to Losing Trades
Selling Lucid doesn’t mean you “lose” : you already lost by holding this long.
The only real question: Is this money better deployed elsewhere?
You already know the answer.
Final Thought: The Mindset Shift You Need
You’re not a gambler. You’re not here to "recover losses."
You’re here to build wealth.
If you follow a proper strategy, DCA into strong companies, manage risk, and cut emotional attachments, you won’t even care about Lucid in 5 years.
The past doesn’t matter. The next move does.
