Arranged Marriages: Future Major Updates
🕑 Added 2022-03-01 07:20:19 +0000 UTCHey guys! Sorry this post is a little late, been a bit hard to get stuff written and posted between working on the current mod update, life, and my toddler being a bear the past few weeks.
This might be a bit of a long post so I'll try to keep it short. Basically this post is to describe some of the large future updates I'd like to eventually add to the mod, and a poll to gauge interest on what you guys want. The poll in this post is only for seeing what you are interested in so I can understand what's important to you guys, while the Wizard and up tier post that I will publish later in the day (and link here) will help me decide what updates I will focus on first. This way I can start planning the next big update in-between my other projects and the minor updates for this one.
You can select as many options on the poll as you want.
Remember that this poll does not determine what comes next, but helps me understand what you guys are interested in. Wizards and higher tiers can help my decision on what comes next in the other poll.
Feel free to ask questions, posts suggestions, etc. here or in the Discord.
Social Update 1 & 2 - This update will include a lot of new social interactions, buffs/sentiments, different reactions (based on traits and probably more) for those interactions, and impact on reputation/society. Neighbors/friends will send messages reacting to decisions like breaking off arrangements, congratulating on arrangements, and possibly more (jealousy, anyone?). This will be one of the largest updates so its likely going to be split up in order to manage it properly and make sure all systems are in place correctly. Will have settings where I can to turn some of this off, if needed.
Autonomy Update - (Will have an off setting) This update will include a very carefully made autonomy system where other sims can now ask your sims for arrangements based on the same scoring factors already in the mod. It will be a whole new set of interactions and tests, and will always be updated to include any future arranging interactions that make sense for them (i.e sending letters will be an option for them as well). The social update will eventually impact this one as well.
Dowry Update - (Will have an off setting) I was originally going to include a basic dowry system in the release but I wanted to make a more in-depth system, so it would have been too big to release on time. This will focus on dowry's and the different options you can choose/pay with, as well as when you provide the dowry and possibly more as I think of it.
Matchmaker Update - A matchmaker system will be added so that a future partner will be chosen by them instead of the parents, and hopefully a matchmaker career that someone had suggested to me (haven't decided on type yet).
Events Update - Possibly going to be split up. I plan to add a couple of regular events for celebrating, dinners, etc. and events where there's a potential to meet suitors, similar to the original purpose of debutante balls and also adding bride/groom shows.
After Marriage Update - Possibly going to be split up. An update focused on the married life, having kids, what happens when having lovers, etc. The lovers who were there before marrying will likely have impact in this update, otherwise they will be added in a minor update beforehand.
There's a few minor updates that are not on this list (like more arranging options) since this post was just about large updates, and I might have missed something as it's a bit late. As I think of more updates and receive more suggestions this list will change and update, but for now this is what you can expect to see. If you have any other ideas feel free to share them here, on Discord, or with me on my other pages!
