Functional Cow Preview
🕑 Added 2021-01-01 00:07:02 +0000 UTCOml, this post was supposed to be out two weeks ago! Remember when I said I had a preview coming of a project, change in plans? Yeah this one. Right when I got the cow to a point I was happy and ready to post, I realized the cow suddenly wasn't eating and investigated. Cue 2 weeks of back and forth testing trying to find out why the cow wasn't eating, then why the cow's eating animation was glitching, etc. Whenever I solved one bug, another came up, and I had to restart this massive file twice. So yeah, fun. 😂 In the craze I forgot to post that I was experiencing bugs and why this was so late, so I apologize for that.
Anyhow, this BGC baby is the current WIP of the farming collab pack I told you guys about a while back! Right after I told you guys the coordinator came back we all decided what we were doing for our first version release and went from there. Cows were part of that list, and we're having such a blast with it! And now that we're making progress, the current members of our team include (besides me): FallenAngel (the coordinator), Pandasama (mesher, texture, animator, some tuning), Icemunmun (food, harvestables, tuning), littlebowbub (food), and BrazenLotus (food and harvestables). Panda, Icey and I are in charge of the functional objects like the animals and other objects we have coming. And no, Arnie is not part of our team if anyone is wondering. We are two separate groups with two different farming mods.
For the cow Panda did the mesh, textures, and animations and is working with Icey to create some new interactions like petting the cow. Icey handled the milking and feeding interaction process, all the different milks involved, as well as at least one possible feature that I won't discuss yet as it's more of a planned update for later, unless there is time to squeeze it in.
And for my job, I'm handling the entire cow's background system and connecting everything together. When and how the cow eats, sleeps, is ready to be milked, etc. I am also doing a few other features on my own.
I don't want to reveal too much yet of our planned features in case some get pushed back for an update, but this cow is really cool and I can't wait for you guys to be able to play with it. We were aiming for an early January release but then those bugs appeared and set us back, so I'd say mid or late January. I doubt it will go past that.
Anyways, I hope you guys are excited! I do have some other stuff to talk about but will discuss them in another post, will probably make it now and set it to post tomorrow so I don't spam you guys. I discussed one of them already in my Discord WIP channel for Patrons, so check it out if you haven't yet!
Happy New Year!
