Tfw Alicia watching SU has you rewatching the whole series because of the drip drip drip...I am apready S5E4 because its so addictive ><

One of the best episodes. This one and mirror gem are what really starts the Steven universe hype. The lore subtly being dropped…

Life is hard when you're a grape juice baby

I wonder if Alicia has caught on yet. To the subtle stuff. The changes. I wonder if she's noticed yet.

Hey. Hey, Alicia. "We kept Amethyst".

Joy Blackdragon

I like that this is the first time in the series that Pearl not only admits she was wrong about something, but apologizes for it too. You can see how much that admission means to Amethyst.

Michael McKnight

By this point, they know they've gotten you emotionally invested in the show and the characters, so now they can start really gut-punching you.

Juanma

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first really heavy episode. Like sure we had emotional moments, but this is the first time we go "oh these people are broken..."

Jacowab

my theory is that they made that episode held at gunpoint

Does anyone know if she's gonna skip episode 48 "Say Uncle"? It's not canon and is a crossover with a show that last I checked wasn't well regarded. Cause if she doesn't she's gonna have to do a group of three episodes since there's an odd number for season 1.

Because you have to care about a character before you get invested in them

You know, I feel like things are slowly starting to get more and more serious, but that was typical of this, and many other shows like adventure time, because it starts all funny and goofy. So we can like the main characters more and because we like them, when the more serious stuff occurs, we are more engaged with them because we knew them from the start and had a connection with them.

Fun Fact! Steven's toy is actually NOT Cloud! It is the main character of a webcomic called RPG World. The comic's author, Ian Jones-Quartey, worked on the show and it's a little Easter Egg to him! ...that being said, the Hero WAS a spoof of Cloud so calling him that is still completely valid. I just think it's a neat little bit of trivia - and also was very excited that I - as an RPG World fan - got the joke immediately the first time I saw it. XD

This my favorite season 1 episode next to the finale

The Boxcar books yessss!!! Been waiting for someone else to make that connection 🤩 Not one in the countless reactors and friends I've shown this series till now

The whole Kindergarten thing is so freaking creepy already... and knowing the Junji Ito manga it's look was inspired by just makes it all the worse.... especially the whole "This is my hole, it's shaped like me!" bit! Not to mention those 'ancient gem machines' all over the place being shaped like bacteriophages.
