Once Upon a December
🕑 Added 2024-12-20 19:30:16 +0000 UTCHello dear patrons, the Yule season is upon us! I wanted to do something cozy and nostalgic this month, so I present to you my cover of Once Upon a December from Anastasia. Nothing strictly Bardcore here, since it's more of a faithful cover, but there is such a timeless quality to this song that sends me right back to childhood.
I had fun altering the art for this one, and discovered an artist whose work I now really admire. Michael Stennett was a costume designer who worked with The Metropolitan Opera, New York, The Royal Opera, and other prestigious companies. His illustrations went above and beyond the call of duty, not merely depicting the costume, but often capturing the setting and the mood as well.
I wish you all a beautiful holiday season, with more comfort than stress. I appreciate every single one of you—I'm sending you warm blessings for the solstice and the New Year. May it be jolly and bright!

Thank you so much Claire, that means the world! I think I still have the tape somewhere and will have to dig it out. I know I could stream it somewhere, but I feel like watching the VHS will add something. :P Happy holidays!

Haha, I totally understand, you have to be in the right mood for it. Thank you though, it's a range I never got to explore much when I was singing early music and light opera, but it's nice to play around with it now and then!

Beautiful! I introduced my friends to your music during a trip to New Zealand, and now they are fans! Your majestic voice was perfect to accompany the road trip through the breathtaking landscapes there 😊

Beautiful. Happy Yule!!

Honestly, musical theatre is not my favorite style... but you sang it well and your voice is absolutely beautiful. I also like your chest voice a lot, maybe you can do that more often?

Never seen the movie, but this song is beautiful, your rendition hauntingly evocative. Thank you and a wonderful solstice and New Year to you.

This was beautiful! I never got that into the movie, but this song has always stuck with me.

This one hit me hard. This movie was one of the few VHS tapes we had as kids. I've watched it countless times. I could probably quote the entire thing from memory. This song brought back some core memories. Your covers transcend the meaning of covers, as they unfailingly enhance the source material. It seems more fitting to call them revivals or reimaginings. I'm so glad to be one of your patrons. Thanks again ❤️

Such a beautiful cover and you’re right there is something so timeless about this song it doesn’t need to be bardified
