Chris, does the awaken spell still require agate worth 1000 gold pieces? Moon and trying to awaken a whole lot of trees to protect a village, but Iām finally difficult to find all about agate!

The best example of this would be you can't counterspell a counterspell cast on yourself anymore if the first spell used a spellslot.

Only on their turn. Shield and absorb elements are very unlikely to be cast during your turn. The biggest nerf is that you can't counterspell an enemy counterspelling you.

Note that the new caster rules would prevent a caster using a spell slot to cast a spell on their turn from also using their reaction to cast a reaction spell (shield, absorb elements, silvery barbs, etc.) if a foe used a reaction to attack them, or trigger an attack or damage.

Do you think sentinel still works with mirror image? The word "target" is gone from the spell, but I hope there's still an argument for it to function the same as it did in the 2014 ruleset

Wow I am gonna start using Mirror Image what a buff it can even negate crits I can definitely see using this in combination with the Dodge action and being very hard to hit

I always thought 'Find traps' was as bad as it was because they were trying to pay deference to the DM. "I made my dangerous dungeon, and all my fun is ruined by one stupid spell!" But the player took a spell, and used s spell slot. It SHOULD 'defeat' the trap room surprise. Alternately, if they want the vague thing it should have an hour+ duration so even if it's not telling you the trap's on the left wall, it should have an active 'ping' when they get near a trap as they go through a dungeon crawl or the like.
