[Weekly Update] October 20th, 2019
🕑 Added 2019-10-21 04:26:44 +0000 UTCWell, it has been a while, hasn't it?
For the most part, I'm fully settled in Montreal, now. While there are some other on going projects I'll be working on, the channel should go back to normal.
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- The Bruce Lee trilogy is perhaps the most well received series of videos I did on this channel, a testament to the charm of this amazing man.
- There is one interesting discussion, however: Is Bruce Lee's battle cries actually dubbed by himself? There are people who say yes and people who say no. I even receive emails from a professor in Hong Kong, who's currently doing legit research on subjects related to this matter. As for now, I suppose the answer is still up in the air.
- Halloween is coming up, and I have a spooky episode planned for you. I plan on uploading it this Thursday. But the script is much more involve than I expected (seems to be a running theme with my works). If I missed the deadline, I think I'll upload it on Halloween instead.
- After next episode, I'll take a short break from Chinese cinema, and goes back to work cinema for at least two episodes.
- After that, I think I'll host a poll to decide what topic to discuss next.
- And finally, our channel hit 50K subscribers a couple of weeks ago!
ABOUT RECENT MEDIA
- JOKER!
- I have a complicating feeling towards this movie. I appreciate it, and I think it's a good movie. But outside of Phoenix's haunting performance, I can't really enjoy the movie.
- The film is pretty much a beat by beat remake of Taxi Driver, and many best parts of the film came directly from that movie.
- For this reason, the more I think about it, the less I like this film. Time will tell how this film will hold up in the future. But I'm having doubt about its legacy.
- Yeah, I think Heath Ledger's performance is more iconic, to no fault of Phoenix.
- GEMINI MAN!
- Wow, it bombed in the critical reception department. I haven't seen it and I'm not so sure if I want to any more. Have you seen it? Tell me more!
ABOUT LIFE
- This Sunday and Tuesday, my short film "A Game of Tyranny" is being screened in Orlando Film Festival. If you are interested in my work outside of this channel, here is your chance to see it on a big screen.
- If you want to see the film but can't go to Orlando, I'll eventually upload it to a separate channel.
- There are still a few more festivals I'm waiting for response. If you haven't been to a film festivals before, they do not allow online distribution before their screening. So there will be a few more months before I can show it to public. Unless someone purchase the film, which is highly unlikely. But a man can dream.
And that's all the update. I'll upload the script preview as soon as it is done!
It's good to be back. I'll see you this Halloween.
