[New Episode] Chinese Animation: In Search of a Style | Video Essay
🕑 Added 2020-01-08 20:06:56 +0000 UTCWelcome to the longest episode in the channel's history, yet!
2019 was a great year for Chinese animations, to a point where I can't help but get excited. That's how I got carried away and made a 20 minute long episode.
It has been forever since I have any desire to watch Chinese animations. Why? Well, in this episode, we are going to explore the history of Chinese animation, and explain my cynicism, why it existed, why it was wrong, and give you a bunch of Chinese animations to watch!

I was wondering recently about Chinese animation and why there didn't seem to be much of an industry--at least not a globally recognized one. Chinese products seemed to be more hardware than software. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about all Chinese animation history in your video as well as the really Chinese visual aesthetic in some of the older masterpieces. I didn't even think of ink painting animations. I think they look gorgeous!

I loved this video and I loved the length.

I know I skipped over a Weekly Update last Sunday. This big episode is the reason why. There will be one more episode this month before I put Patreon on pause. There will be no episodes in February. There will no bonus video this month. Instead, it'll come at the end of February.
