"Ouija board?"
This made Emma, who was reading a book, also look up.
Ouija boards were a pretty common little game in the US and Europe, kind of like spirit writing, cup divination, and plate divination in Southeast Asia. They're all séance games that teenagers often play.
The ways to play are actually quite similar. It's very likely that games like spirit writing are just localized versions of the Ouija board.
After all, the history of the Ouija board is really long, and it's considered a traditional skill for witches.
Hearing this, Zoe was a little worried.
"Could it be dangerous? What if we summon some evil spirit or something..."
Maria looked at Zoe with a weird expression.
"Huh? Are you serious? There are five witches here. We'd be scared of a little evil spirit? It should be the evil spirits who are scared of us, right?"
Hearing this, Zoe remembered that everyone present was a witch. Except for her own witch talent being a bit weak, the other witches' talents were quite powerful.
Ordinary evil spirits, like that Mothman from the spirit box, would be asking for trouble if they tried anything.
"We're bored anyway, so let's play! Does anyone have a Ouija board?"
Madison yawned. If she didn't find something fun to do, she was going to fall asleep.
Carrie raised her hand again.
"When I first came to school, I found a Ouija board under my bed. It was probably left here by a student from before."
"Then hurry up and get it out! Zoe, go see if there are any white candles!"
Madison naturally started directing the others. She was always like this; she probably picked up the habit when she was in Hollywood.
"Madison, I want to play too!"
Emma couldn't resist her curiosity and put down her book. Séance games were just too fascinating.
"Of course, no problem! Let's tidy up the place together!"
Soon, Madison and the others moved the table to the center of the room and brought over a few chairs.
Zoe found a few white candles in the kitchen, and with the dusty Ouija board that Carrie pulled out from under her bed, they had everything they needed.
"Cough, cough, cough! How can there be so much dust? How many years has this Ouija board been under the bed?"
Maria, who had a bit of a germophobia, couldn't stand so much dust and covered her mouth and nose, hiding far away.
"You don't get it! The older the Ouija board, the better it works! I think this Ouija board is pretty old; it's probably an antique!"
Madison took a towel and wiped the dust off the Ouija board.
This Ouija board looked quite old-fashioned. It was made entirely of some kind of black wood. In the middle of the board were the 26 letters of the alphabet, with the words "Yes" and "No" above the letters, and a row of numbers below.
Beautiful patterns were carved around the Ouija board, and the craftsmanship looked very delicate, not like something cheap you'd buy in a store.
(Similar to this, the large one is the board, the small one is the planchette)
Hearing this, Zoe was a little curious.
"Madison, do you even know how to appraise antiques?"
"I don't! But there's a line of text written here!"
Madison pointed to the very bottom of the Ouija board. The girls gathered around to take a look and found a line of small text there.
"Made by Mary Shaw in 1885"
"It's actually a Ouija board made in 1885!"
Zoe looked surprised. This Ouija board really could be considered an antique.
"I'm more curious about who this Mary Shaw is. Have you guys heard this name before?"
Maria looked at the other girls, but everyone shook their heads.
Madison pursed her lips.
"Someone from over a hundred years ago, and not even a celebrity. Who knows what she did? Probably just an ordinary witch who went to school here. Okay, let's not waste any more time. It's almost 12 o'clock, the best time to play a séance game!"
The five girls immediately sat down around the Ouija board.
"I've played séance games before, so I'll be the host this time!"
Madison confidently took on the role of host and then explained some of the rules, like not taking your hands off the planchette and not provoking the spirits, similar to spirit writing and plate divination.
But knowing the rules was one thing, and following them was another. Madison and Maria were definitely not girls who followed the rules.
Don't be fooled by how clearly Madison recited the rules now; she'd probably be the first one to break them in a minute.
The lights in the dorm room were turned off, and the white candles were lit.
"Okay, now we put our hands on the planchette, close our eyes, concentrate, and feel the special magnetic field around us..."
Madison had indeed played séance games before and even said the lines that were commonly used.
But these lines made Maria unable to hold back her laughter.
"Madison, we're all witches. Can you please not say these kinds of things that go against our image!"
"Shut up, Maria! These are the standard lines for a séance game! Saying this will create the right atmosphere!"
Madison was a little flustered. She had just subconsciously said these lines and forgotten that she was playing a séance game with witches.
"Okay, okay, okay, then you continue!"
Even with her eyes closed, Madison could tell that Maria was still holding back laughter, and under Maria's lead, Carrie, who had a very low tolerance for humor, also seemed to be losing control.
In this situation, Madison no longer felt like continuing to say the lines.
"I'm not saying it anymore. Let's just feel it internally!"
Suddenly, the planchette moved, and Maria opened her eyes speechlessly.
"Madison, since we're going to play a séance game, can you please not pull this kind of trick? We're not ordinary people; we can sense you using your powers."
Madison pursed her lips.
"Who told you to make fun of me just now?"
Seeing that Madison and Maria were about to argue again, Zoe quickly stood up to stop them.
"Stop arguing! If you want to play a séance game, then play it properly!"
Madison and Maria both snorted coldly at the same time, and that was the end of that.
The five continued to close their eyes and place their fingers on the planchette, silently calling out to the spirits in their hearts.
After a while, a gust of eerie wind suddenly and inexplicably blew through the dorm room, making the candlelight flicker.
The five girls simultaneously felt a chill, and they were about to get goosebumps all over.
"It's here!"
Madison shouted in surprise, and everyone opened their eyes.
"Shhh, we all felt it. Hurry up and ask questions! Who wants to go first?"
In the end, everyone decided to let the youngest Emma ask first.
"Are you in the room right now?"
Emma asked a standard question, and the planchette slowly moved to the word "Yes".
Madison looked at the remaining three girls.
"Who's next?"
It was Zoe's first time playing this kind of séance game, and her excited little face was flushed.
"I'll ask! Are you a man or a woman?"
The planchette slowly moved across the Ouija board and finally spelled out "Woman".
Then, Madison couldn't wait to be the third person to ask a question.
"Next, it's my turn! The questions you guys asked were so lame. You still have to see mine! Female ghost, how did you die?"
Unsurprisingly, Madison indeed took the lead in causing trouble and asked a more provocative question.
The planchette paused for a while before starting to move over the letters, spelling out the word "Murder".
The five girls were all very excited to see that the female ghost who came was murdered.
"It's actually murder! Could it have been done by a witch from the past?"
Madison's eyes lit up. She liked these kinds of murder mystery stories the most.
Emma suggested another possibility.
"Could it also be a murder case that happened in this house before? I heard that before the Witches' Council bought this place, it used to be a hospital."
Zoe touched her own arm; she was already a little scared.
"Hurry up, I feel colder and colder."
Next was Maria. She was just about to speak when she saw Madison winking at her.
"Maria, ask something a little more exciting!"
"You don't need to tell me! Female ghost, when did you die?"
The planchette moved for the fourth time, this time to the number section, first a 1, then two 9s, and finally a 0. The answer was 1990.
"So that means she only died ten years ago? Could it be that a murder case happened at the witches' school ten years ago? Maybe she even died in this room!"
Madison became even more excited, and the other girls also started to get curious.
The last one to ask a question was Carrie, who didn't quite know what question to ask.
"What should I ask?"
Madison immediately gave a suggestion.
"Of course, ask for her name! As long as we know her name, we should be able to find out what murder case happened here 10 years ago!"
Carrie accepted Madison's suggestion.
"Female ghost, what is your name?"
The planchette paused again and moved around randomly a few times before it started to spell out its name.
As the five girls read out the letters one by one, the smiles on their faces gradually disappeared. The name that was finally spelled out was something no one had expected.
Fiona Goode, which was the Supreme Witch's name.
The girls looked at each other, speechless, all feeling a sense of disbelief.
After all, the girls had just seen the Supreme Witch Fiona during the day. How could she have died all of a sudden, and what's more, been dead for a whole ten years?
"Is she lying?"
Emma looked at Madison. This whole thing felt strange.
Madison's face was full of hesitation.
"Probably not, right? We'll find out if we keep asking! Female ghost, what evidence do you have to prove that you are Fiona Goode?"
The planchette became increasingly restless and then started to spell out a long sentence.
"You can go find Myrtle to divine; she will definitely be able to discover the truth!"
Myrtle had the gift of the Third Eye, as all the young witches knew, and she was precisely the divination class teacher.
Zoe looked hesitantly at the other young witches.
"Why don't we give it a try?"
"We'd have to do that tomorrow though! Do you guys have any other questions?"
Madison looked at the other young witches, and Maria immediately volunteered.
"Let me do it! Female ghost, how were you murdered?"
The planchette paused for a while before starting to spell out a sentence.
"That woman ambushed me when I wasn't paying attention and then took over my body!"
This sounded very convincing, and the young witches were almost starting to believe it.
Suddenly, light footsteps came from outside the door. It sounded like someone was walking towards this dorm room.
The young witches were startled and immediately sent the female ghost away, then hid the Ouija board.
Emma, Maria, and Carrie each lay back down on their beds, while Madison and Zoe hid under the bed.
Soon, Cordelia pushed the door open and came in. After seeing the table, chairs, and the table full of candles, she frowned deeply.
However, Cordelia didn't say anything and left the dorm room directly.
Madison and Zoe quickly came out from under the bed. They were both covered in dust from just being under there.
"Damn it, we have to go back to our dorm room! Emma, Maria, Carrie, see you tomorrow!"
"See you tomorrow, Madison, Zoe!"
Early the next morning, the four little witches from the Apocalypse Society went to Myrtle.
Myrtle hadn't left her room for the past few days to recover from her injuries. She had her meals sent to her room, so the little witches could only go to Myrtle's room to find her.
Very fortunately, Fiona went out today, so the four little witches didn't have to worry about being discovered.
After resting for these past two days, Myrtle's cheeks had finally regained a bit of color, although her lips were still very pale.
"You said you played a séance game last night and contacted a spirit claiming to be Fiona Goode?"
Myrtle's expression became serious. If this was true, it would be very serious.
"Yes, that spirit even suggested we come find you. She said you could verify her words!"
Myrtle closed her eyes and pondered for a moment.
"I do have a way to verify it, but we'll have to wait until midnight. Don't be anxious; I'll go find Cordelia and ask her first."
In the evening, Fiona still hadn't returned. Myrtle then brought Cordelia and the five little witches to the school's front hall.
"Next, I will directly summon that spirit through a ritual. Hold my hands."
The seven people held hands and formed a circle, with a bunch of white candles lit in the middle of them.
This was a relatively common spirit-calling ritual for mediums. Only witches and mediums could complete it, and it required the participation of the deceased's closest relatives.
Cordelia originally didn't want to participate in this kind of ritual. This matter was simply nonsense, and she thought that spirit was very likely a liar.
Some evil spirits do indeed deceive people for certain purposes.
But Myrtle still persuaded Cordelia. After all, there was no harm in trying.
The clock standing in the front hall chimed, which meant that the time had reached midnight.
"Follow me and say 'Fiona Goode'! Remember, you cannot let go of hands during this time, otherwise the spirit will disappear! If Fiona Goode is really dead, then we can summon her spirit in this way."
The seven people recited Fiona Goode's name in unison. A few minutes later, the color of the candles on the ground suddenly turned a ghostly blue, and a translucent human figure appeared above the candles.
Everyone widened their eyes, especially Cordelia, who almost let go of her hand due to emotional agitation.
"This is impossible!"
Myrtle, who was conducting the ritual, quickly comforted Cordelia.
"Cordelia, you absolutely must not let go."
The translucent figure actually looked exactly like the Supreme Witch. She looked at Cordelia with a sad expression.
"Cordelia, it's so good to see you again!"
The emotions of this Fiona Goode's spirit were so sincere that even Cordelia, who hadn't believed it at all, started to hesitate.
"You, are you really my mother?"
"Child, I am your mother! Do you remember? When you were little and had a high fever, I carried you on my back to the hospital! At that time, you told me you wanted to become the greatest potion master!"
This kind of secret only a mother and daughter would know, and Cordelia fell into complete silence.
Just at this moment, the door of the witches' school suddenly opened.
Chapter 223: Burning
"What are you doing?"
It turned out to be the other Fiona. Everyone jumped, and Cordelia, in particular, panicked and immediately let go.
This caused the spirit in the middle of them to disappear.
Fiona's sharp gaze swept over everyone, making them all feel immense pressure.
"M-Mother, we weren't doing anything. Myrtle and I were just having the students perform a ritual."
Cordelia forced an excuse, but it was clear that Fiona didn't buy it.
Fiona looked at the young witches suspiciously, seemingly trying to find a weak point among them.
Madison, Emma, and Maria remained relatively calm, but Zoe and Carrie, due to their personalities, appeared very nervous, which gave Fiona an opening.
"You're lying! What exactly were you doing?!"
Seeing that they couldn't hide the truth anymore, Myrtle decided to go all in and directly questioned Fiona.
"I'm asking you a question: are you really Fiona Goode?!"
Myrtle could tell if someone was lying. If Fiona answered this question, she would know the truth.
Fiona naturally knew what answering this question meant, so she chose to evade it.
"I don't know what you're talking about!"
There were no idiots present, well, maybe there were. Zoe and Carrie were pretty clueless.
Everyone else had already guessed the truth from Fiona's evasion.
So, Myrtle gave Cordelia a look, and the two of them suddenly acted at the same time.
Two massive fireballs materialized in their hands and flew towards Fiona in the distance.
Fiona was furious. The two fireballs exploded in mid-air, and a wave of fire instantly raised the temperature in the room.
"How dare you attack the Supreme Witch!"
"Scatter! You guys run!"
Cordelia remembered the students around them. To prevent them from being caught in the crossfire, she and Myrtle had to stand in front of them.
Most of the young witches were quick-witted and scattered to find cover in time, but Carrie was a bit slow to react.
As a result, Carrie was also caught in the battle.
Fiona raised her hand, and Cordelia, Myrtle, and Carrie were lifted to the ceiling as if gravity had reversed, unable to move.
"You... dare... to attack the great Supreme Witch!"
Fiona spoke each word deliberately, showing her inner rage.
The powerful aura she released made even Madison and the others, who were hiding, start to feel scared.
"Madison, what do we do?"
Zoe was the most scared because her power was weak, she hadn't mastered any witchcraft, and her natural witch talent was terrible.
Madison gritted her teeth.
"We know this woman's secret. She'll never let us go! We have to band together and fight her!"
"But she's the Supreme Witch!"
Emma was also a bit panicked. She had been burned by the Supreme Witch before.
Maria surprisingly agreed with Madison.
"Madison's right. This woman will definitely not let us go. We have to risk it and attack together!"
As she spoke, Maria took the lead and created a spirit double, charging towards Fiona.
Fiona's senses were fully alert, and she reacted very quickly.
"You want to betray the Supreme Witch too!"
Just as she was about to attack, Fiona suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head, as if a nail had been hammered into her brain.
This was Emma using her power. She was still too young, and her witch talent could only disrupt Fiona slightly.
But thankfully, Madison also attacked at the same time. Her telekinesis was also very powerful, and combined with Emma's mental control, they successfully held Fiona in place for a solid second.
The outcome of a battle is often decided in that single second.
The final blow was delivered by Maria's spirit double. Her sister, Elaine, directly pierced Fiona's body and ripped out her heart.
Fiona fell to the ground lifelessly, and the three witches pinned to the ceiling also dropped down.
"Ouch!"
The three witches took a nasty fall, especially Myrtle. She was the same age as Fiona, over sixty, and couldn't handle that kind of rough treatment.
Her old bones almost broke.
Cordelia quickly helped Myrtle up and then looked at the fallen Fiona.
"Is she dead?"
After all, this woman's body looked like her own mother, so Cordelia couldn't help but feel a little sad.
But witches had all sorts of strange abilities, and she might even be able to revive, so they still needed to check Fiona's body.
At this moment, Myrtle suddenly convulsed, her eyes rolling back as if she were forcibly entering a trance.
"No! She's still alive! You're no match for her, run!"
Prophets with the Sight would occasionally be forced into a trance under certain circumstances. At this time, they could clearly see future events, but this state also took a huge toll on their bodies.
So, after saying those two sentences, Myrtle immediately collapsed to the ground, drained of strength, while the other witches hadn't even reacted yet.
They then saw Fiona's corpse, which was lying on the ground, suddenly twist and deform, indicating that she hadn't died from Maria ripping out her heart.
"How can this be?"
Maria wanted to control the spirit double to deliver a finishing blow, but Fiona's corpse suddenly burst into purple flames. These flames seemed to burn Elaine, forcing the spirit double to retreat.
Then, the witches saw a part of the flesh split off from Fiona's corpse.
Cordelia immediately thought of Myrtle's earlier prophecy, knowing that something terrible was about to emerge.
"You guys run! Get out of the school, contact the Witch Council, and tell them everything!"
Cordelia handed Myrtle over to Madison. Myrtle had completely lost her ability to fight. Instead of staying here, it was better to have Madison take her out.
At least Myrtle was a member of the Witch Council, and with her testimony, the Council would be more likely to believe them.
As for Cordelia herself, she was prepared to sacrifice herself, wanting to stop whatever was splitting off from Fiona's corpse on her own.
The young witches didn't hesitate and immediately tried to escape the witch school with Myrtle.
"Nobody's getting away!"
The flesh that had split off from Fiona's corpse finally transformed into a woman. This woman was tall and slender, about six feet tall, with curves in all the right places. Her figure was perfect, the kind of body every woman dreamed of.
Her aura was incredibly alluring. It was a good thing that everyone present was female, otherwise they would definitely have been captivated by this woman.
With a wave of her hand, the school doors slammed shut, and purple flames, the same flames that had almost burned Elaine earlier, erupted on the doors.
With another wave, purple flames rose up at all the exits and windows. The witches immediately looked wary; all escape routes were blocked.
"W-What do we do?"
Zoe, the weakest among them, was already panicking.
"We'll just have to kill her again!"
Maria was still relatively calm. After all, she had just successfully taken down Fiona, so her confidence was probably through the roof.
Cordelia quickly stopped the eager young witches.
"Don't be rash! Myrtle has already seen the future. You guys need to run now!"
"But... where do we go?"
All the exits were blocked by purple flames. Unless the young witches could break through this witchcraft, there was no way for them to leave.
"You can't escape. You might as well surrender to me!"
The beautiful woman looked at the young witches, her eyes filled with coldness. She was clearly very angry.
It was impossible for the beautiful woman not to be angry. After all, she had been lurking in the Witch Coven for hundreds of years, and now she was back to square one.
Unless the beautiful woman could immediately find a new Supreme Witch to possess, she would have to start over.
At this moment, Cordelia pulled out a vial of liquid that glowed with a blue light.
"Mother, I've always wanted to earn your approval, even though I knew it was impossible. My talent is just too weak, so I can only rely on external means to achieve this wish!"
As she spoke, Cordelia drank the potion in one gulp. Her body instantly burst into ghostly blue flames.
The ghostly blue flames didn't harm Cordelia's clothes, but her face aged visibly.
This was a magic potion that burned life force to enhance magical power!
The beautiful woman's expression changed. The magical power produced by this suicidal potion made her feel a bit wary.
Then, Cordelia roared loudly at the beautiful woman.
"Mother, do you see my determination?"
The ghostly blue flames formed a ghostly blue phoenix that flew towards the beautiful woman. The immense magical power distorted the surrounding air.
The beautiful woman didn't try to block the phoenix directly. Although she was strong enough to do so, why bother with such a difficult and thankless task?
So, the beautiful woman teleported to the side, and the ghostly blue phoenix continued its trajectory, crashing into the door and completely dissolving the purple flames and the door itself.
"Run!"
So, that was Cordelia's goal. She just wanted to use her life to open a path for the students to escape.
Realizing this, the beautiful woman tried to teleport to the doorway again to block the others' escape route, but Cordelia once again unleashed ghostly blue phoenixes to protect them.
These phoenixes seemed to have the ability to distinguish friend from foe, not harming their own side but damaging the beautiful woman.
"You think that's going to let them get away?"
The beautiful woman felt extremely angry, but Cordelia was now throwing her life away, so she couldn't do anything to her for the time being. She could only wear her down until her life force was exhausted.
At this point, Cordelia's hair had turned completely white, and her face was covered in wrinkles, but she wore a relieved smile.
"They'll definitely be able to escape. Myrtle must have seen this scene, which is why she told them to run!"
"Hmph! Then I'll just catch them and burn them to death in front of your corpse!"
"You won't succeed!"
Cordelia didn't have much life force left, so she prepared to make a final gamble, even though the odds were slim.
A large number of ghostly blue flowers appeared on the floor of the foyer, each flower containing terrifying energy, completely surrounding the beautiful woman.
The beautiful woman's expression changed. If all the energy within these ghostly blue flowers were to explode, even she would suffer a significant blow.
So, the beautiful woman decisively tried to teleport out of the witch school, but just then, her ankle was bound by an iron chain.
"When did this happen?"
The beautiful woman looked up and saw that Cordelia's ankle was also bound by an iron chain.
Cordelia had secretly cast a spell at some point, linking the two of them together, so neither could move.
"Let's go to hell together!"
The ghostly blue flowers bloomed, and beams of energy shot through the ceiling and into the sky, lighting up most of the sky.
The commotion was so great that people probably dozens of miles away could see it.
The witch school instantly began to collapse. Thankfully, this was the school's foyer, and the students' sleeping quarters were in the back.
But with such a huge noise, the other students and teachers probably wouldn't be able to sleep either. After all, the witch school's foyer looked like it had been hit by a cannon.
Madison and the others, who had already escaped some distance away, also saw this spectacular scene. Their eyes all showed sadness.
Although Principal Cordelia usually didn't have much presence, and even Madison didn't really respect her, she still sacrificed herself to protect the students at the critical moment.
The more emotional Zoe and Carrie had even started wiping away tears.
"Principal Cordelia... do you think she and that woman took each other out?"
Maria still remained calm.
"I don't think it's that simple, otherwise Myrtle wouldn't have told us to run."
Myrtle was still unconscious. She had lost consciousness after her Sight was involuntarily activated.
"Let's go quickly. Don't let Principal Cordelia's sacrifice be in vain!"
Madison urged the others, and as the witches turned around, they saw the beautiful woman appear in front of them.
The beautiful woman was covered in dust and had some scrapes, looking quite disheveled overall, but her aura was still terrifying.
Clearly, Cordelia's final attack hadn't seriously injure the beautiful woman. She still possessed formidable fighting power.
Zoe began to despair.
"How could this happen?"
The other young witches' morale also plummeted.
Emma started to think that if her cousin Roy were here, everything would be alright.
"Wouldn't it have been better to just surrender? Why make things so ugly? This isn't dignified for anyone!"
Because of the commotion just now, the beautiful woman knew that she couldn't hide what had happened anymore. Now, she just wanted to kill all the witnesses.
At this moment, Carrie stepped forward.
"You guys go. I'll hold her off!"
Madison looked at Carrie in shock, not expecting this quiet girl who usually kept to herself to bravely step forward at this moment.
"Are you serious, Carrie?"
Carrie nodded solemnly.
"I've been an outcast since I was little. Even my own mother hated me. I never had any friends. But I found real friendship at the witch school. I don't want my friends to die!"
The other young witches fell silent.
The beautiful woman burst out laughing.
"Carrie, what do you think you can use to stop me? Your bloodline from hell? Then go ahead and try!"
Carrie closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, only determination remained.
"A boy once told me: your origin doesn't determine who you become. What truly determines who you become is what's in your heart!"
Carrie all grown up
Chapter 224: Either Take Me Out, or I'll Take You Out
Madison, Zoe, Maria, and Emma led the distraught Myrtle away from the battlefield.
Just moments ago, the young witches had witnessed Carrie transform into a red demon right before their eyes.
Actually, Emma also possessed Leviathan's bloodline and had once gone berserk herself, but that time she completely lost her mind, so she didn't have much memory of her transformation.
This time, witnessing Carrie's transformation firsthand left Emma in a daze, and she nearly tripped several times while walking.
Luckily, Zoe and Maria still knew to look after the younger Emma, pulling her along to prevent her from falling.
At this point, the battlefield was covered in blood. Carrie's power was blood manipulation, and many of her abilities were very similar to those of a vampire.
Therefore, Carrie's fighting style required setting up the battlefield first, and the blood used for this setup came from her own body.
"Hmph! You think this will be enough to trap me?"
Although the beautiful woman didn't want to admit it, Carrie's blood-soaked battlefield was similar to a domain, and it did make it difficult for her to pursue the other young witches.
"Today, either you take me out, or I'll take you out!"
Carrie lay on the ground, her state similar to the beast form that Roy had seen in his dream that day.
But clearly, Carrie today retained most of her sanity. Her goal was very clear: to take down the beautiful woman before her.
"Go to hell!"
The blood around Carrie began to boil, and dark red blood flames ignited all the blood.
This magical blood flame would only ignite living beings with blood; it wouldn't harm plants or inanimate objects.
The beautiful woman tried to extinguish these blood flames with ice and snow, but the blood flames seemed unaffected by conventional physical laws. This magical fire could only be extinguished by special means.
If that's the case, then let's fight fire with fire!
A ring of purple fire rose around the beautiful woman's feet, and the purple flames began to clash with the blood flames.
The energy levels of the two magical flames were actually quite similar, so it turned into a pure magical power struggle.
A magical power struggle would definitely favor the beautiful woman. Even if Carrie had demon blood within her and exceptional talent, she couldn't contend with the beautiful woman who had lived for who knows how many years.
But Carrie's goal was just to stall the beautiful woman, preventing her from harming her friends, so she could accept this outcome.
However, the beautiful woman certainly couldn't accept it. So, the woman looked into Carrie's eyes, and a pink light began to emanate from them, attempting to control Carrie through mental magic.
In an instant, Carrie seemed to see Madison and the others return to her side.
"Why did you guys come back?"
But soon, the Madison, Zoe, Maria, and Emma before her were one by one engulfed and ignited by the blood flames, just like what had happened at the school party.
At that time, Carrie's heart was filled with the pleasure of revenge and retaliation. Now, Carrie's heart was filled with regret.
"No—!"
After a painful scream, Carrie knelt in the blood, clutching her head and crying.
Carrie had always been very afraid of the power within her body, so she had acted timidly after being brought to the witch school.
The beautiful woman knew this very well because she had investigated Carrie's talent just as she had investigated Emma's before.
It had to be said that Carrie's talent was a once-in-a-century find even within the witch school. It was just a pity that her personality had a huge flaw, which was why the beautiful woman chose to use mental illusion magic to deal with Carrie.
The surrounding blood flames gradually extinguished, and the boiling flames also calmed down.
"Hehe, who would have thought it would be this easy!"
The beautiful woman withdrew the purple fire wall around her and began to walk towards Carrie.
As she walked, the beautiful woman thought, although this Carrie's bloodline wasn't pure enough for parasitism, she could still brainwash her and turn her into a henchman.
In the current situation, she definitely couldn't go back to the Witch Coven. Next, organizations like the FEA would definitely cause her trouble, and she did need some muscle.
"It's all that damn Myrtle Snow's fault! I should have taken her out sooner!"
The beautiful woman cursed Myrtle through gritted teeth. She didn't know that her exposure was only due to a few young witches suddenly wanting to play a séance, and only thought that Myrtle had foreseen her identity.
Well, this world is just this absurd. In reality, many secrets are leaked for very ridiculous reasons, sometimes even making people think it's a joke.
Suddenly, the beautiful woman sensed a massive energy reaction emanating from Carrie's body. She immediately felt something was wrong and stopped in her tracks.
She saw large bone spurs growing out of Carrie's body, and huge bat wings sprouting from her back, further transforming her into a demonic form. The aura around her was also growing stronger and stronger.
"Awooo—"
Carrie roared towards the sky, instantly dispersing the dark clouds. Then, the moon turned blood-red, creating severe red light pollution across the entire area.
This scene was very similar to the feeling of the ritual Carrie had in her dream.
The beautiful woman's expression became extremely serious. The current development of events was somewhat beyond her control, or rather, tonight's events had been beyond her control from the very beginning.
Suddenly having her secret discovered, then suddenly having her parasitic host body destroyed, and now encountering a fully awakened child of a demon.
This made the beautiful woman wonder if she had been cursed. How could everything have gone so wrong these past few days?
Even her previous attempts to capture the resurrected female corpse and the swamp witch had failed.
Just at this moment, the sound of a helicopter propeller suddenly came from the sky. The beautiful woman looked up and saw three helicopters with the FEAR (First Response Assault Reconnaissance Team) insignia flying in from the distance.
The huge commotion at the witch school had finally attracted the FEA.
In fact, the Boston FEAR training base was not far from the witch school, clearly intended to guard against witches.
So, only a few minutes after the explosion at the witch school, the FEAR forces arrived on the scene.
A glint flashed in the beautiful woman's eyes. She felt this was an opportunity to escape.
Next to Carrie, who had transformed into a child of a demon, she appeared insignificant. As long as FEAR attacked Carrie and drew their hatred, she could escape smoothly.
Thinking of this, the beautiful woman immediately retreated into the shadows, allowing her snow-white skin to blend into the darkness.
The FEAR helicopters in the air indeed focused their attention on Carrie. Although they also saw the beautiful woman, their main focus was still on Carrie.
The helicopter pilot began reporting to headquarters.
"Demon presence detected. Requesting permission to use heavy firepower!"
"Permission granted to use heavy firepower, but do not damage surrounding residential buildings. Try to drive the demon into an unpopulated area!"
"Roger that!"
Carrie, now awakened as a child of a demon, was still instinctively searching for the beautiful woman's踪迹 (zōngjì - traces/whereabouts), but soon the airborne Gatling guns on the three FEAR helicopters began to spin.
The bullets of these airborne Gatling guns had a large caliber of 12.7 millimeters, and their theoretical rate of fire could reach 6,000 rounds per minute.
When three airborne Gatling guns fired simultaneously, this kind of firepower could turn even ordinary steel plates into scrap metal.
Carrie screamed in pain as she was hit by the Gatling gun fire. Bullet holes appeared all over her body. Although the gunshots didn't look deep, they really hurt!
So, Carrie's hatred was instantly drawn to the three helicopters in the air.
With an angry roar, the blood on the ground, under Carrie's control, transformed into a semi-circular blood screen, blocking the view of the three helicopters.
Although the bullets from the three airborne Gatling guns continuously pierced the blood screen, the screen would quickly regenerate.
After several minutes of firing, the airborne Gatling guns overheated and entered a cooling state. Then, the entire blood screen suddenly exploded, and Carrie flew towards one of the helicopters.
The pilot of this helicopter was terrified. Helicopters might look impressive, but they were actually very dangerous.
Basically, if a helicopter falls from a high altitude, it's impossible for the people inside to survive.
The reason why the news anchor Marianne Megan and her colleagues were able to survive before was because the TV station helicopter was flying very low at the time.
But the three FEAR helicopters now were not flying low. If they crashed, being smashed into a meat patty would be a light consequence.
This is also why in future wars, helicopters began to be gradually replaced by drones.
The helicopter pilot, in a panic, directly launched the mounted missiles.
Normally, launching missiles in a city would definitely require approval from superiors, but between saving his life and obeying orders, this pilot chose to save his life.
As a result, a missile directly hit Carrie in the air, blowing the demonized Carrie away.
Similarly, this helicopter also lost control due to the close-range explosion of the missile, spinning rapidly in the air.
"Sir, the heavy machine guns are ineffective. Requesting permission to use missiles!"
"Damn it! You absolutely cannot use missiles in the city, or you'll end up in court!"
"Sir, we just want to live!"
Going to court was better than dying. After all, going to court didn't necessarily mean a death sentence, and Americans didn't have that kind of dedication.
The result was that the remaining two helicopter pilots simultaneously launched their mounted missiles.
Being hit by three missiles in a row would severely injure even Roy in his transformed state, let alone Carrie, whose physical abilities were far inferior to Roy's.
Boom!
A huge flash of fire appeared in the sky.
Many nearby Boston residents must have thought the Russians had attacked.
"Ah—"
After a piercing scream, Carrie was directly blasted to the ground, her condition extremely miserable. She was charred all over, as if her race had changed in an instant.
The pair of wings on her back were reduced to bones, and the membrane had completely disappeared.
In this state, Carrie obviously couldn't continue fighting.
Her fading sanity began to return, and Carrie ran towards the distant forest in terror, wanting to escape the attack of the FEAR helicopters.
The two helicopter pilots also breathed a sigh of relief. They didn't continue launching missiles but instead used heavy machine guns to chase and shoot at Carrie, wanting to force her out of downtown Boston.
More and more helicopters appeared, and even ground troops surrounded the area. Carrie could only keep running in the forest.
However, Carrie, who had been directly hit by three missiles, was severely injured. After running for a while, her body began to give out, and she reverted to her human form.
Fortunately, due to the dense forest, the FEA people hadn't noticed her transformation yet.
But the FEAR ground troops were getting closer and closer, while Carrie, having reverted to human form, had a greatly reduced physical ability and could no longer run.
Was she going to be caught?
Carrie remembered the science fiction movies she had watched before, where the captured aliens all ended up on the operating table, becoming a pile of parts.
This outcome terrified Carrie. She didn't want to become like that.
If it had to be this way, Carrie would rather self-destruct than become a test subject for the federal government.
Thinking this, Carrie didn't pay attention to her feet and tripped over something, falling to the ground.
At this point, Carrie was very weak and had no strength to get up.
It seemed this was the end. She hoped Madison, Zoe, Maria, and Emma could escape safely.
Carrie didn't regret her choice to sacrifice herself to buy time for her friends. She even felt a sense of relief.
It was just that Carrie couldn't help but think of the boy who had appeared in her dream.
It was over…
Carrie looked up at the sky, preparing to immolate herself with her remaining magic, when suddenly a hand covered her mouth.
"Shhh! Don't talk!"
A pleasant voice whispered in her ear, and then Carrie saw a beautiful woman in a white dress kneeling beside her.
The beautiful woman made a few gestures, and invisible magic emanated from her hands. Carrie suddenly felt as if her surroundings were covered by a transparent veil.
Just at this moment, a helicopter flew over with a searchlight. The people on this helicopter seemed unable to see Carrie and the beautiful woman. After pausing for a moment, it flew away into the distance.
Subsequently, the FEAR ground troops also passed by here, but no one gave Carrie and the beautiful woman a second glance. The two of them seemed to be isolated from the rest of the world.
After the sound of the helicopter and ground troops gradually faded away, the beautiful woman removed the veil made of magic.
"Your injuries are severe! My name is Wendy. What's your name?"
"Car...rie..."
Having suffered severe physical and mental trauma, Carrie was about to close her eyes after temporarily finding safety.
"Don't fall asleep yet! Are you a student at the witch school? Carrie? Carrie?"
The scene shifted to the other young witches.
After escaping the battlefield between Carrie and the beautiful woman, the young witches didn't know where to run for a while.
These young witches came from all over the country and were not locals.
Emma was from Waterfall Town, Texas. Madison had lived in Los Angeles for many years. Zoe was from New Orleans, and Maria was from Canada.
That's right, Maria wasn't American; she was Canadian.
But young Canadian witches were also under the jurisdiction of the American Witch Coven, just as the entire country of Canada was America's little brother.
However, Madison made a suggestion. She had a property in Boston, and the young witches could go there to rest and then figure out a solution together.
All the young witches agreed to this suggestion, so they began to move towards Madison's property.
The distance wasn't too far, but it was a considerable challenge for several teenage girls who lacked exercise.
Finally, just before they were about to collapse from exhaustion, the young witches finally arrived at Madison's property, a beautiful white garden villa.
