Buzz... buzz... The radio signal was broken and unclear. Even with great effort, only a few fuzzy words could be caught:
“...mayday... but... danger...”
It sounded like a distress call that began with “My Demon,” creating a loop that echoed from beginning to end — the perfect closing statement to the music video.
And yet... Sophie still didn’t understand it.
The amount of information was just too overwhelming. Although she had mentally prepared herself — after all, a band like King for a Day was bold enough to hide clues in their singles and album covers — she had still underestimated them.
To Sophie, “It’s just a music video, just an album.” No matter how high-quality, it couldn't possibly be that incredible.
But now?
This wasn’t just mind-bending — it felt like a full-blown sci-fi blockbuster, demanding every last bit of mental processing power. Clearly, King for a Day took their music very seriously. From concept to execution, the vision was seamlessly interwoven.
Watching it twice wasn’t enough to catch all the clues. It wasn’t until her fifth viewing that Sophie began to piece together a few threads.
Ollie — he was always searching.
You could feel it: Ollie’s confusion and uncertainty. Guided by fate, he moved through crowded streets, constantly searching. Even though he didn’t seem to know what he was looking for, he never stopped. In the stillness of the night, he stood by a gently flowing river, bathed in dim lights, looking like he was on the verge of vanishing into the breeze — utterly alone.
But what exactly was he searching for?
The music video didn’t give an answer.
Sophie had a bold theory: Ollie was searching for “salvation,” much like the lyrics of “My Demon” — waiting for someone to save him in the midst of despair. That could be the bridge between the song and the video. Still, she lacked enough clues to be sure.
Saying “Ollie is the main character” didn’t mean he had the most screen time. The other three band members had fairly equal parts. But Ollie appearing at both the beginning and end clearly suggested something symbolic.
As for the others — they each had unique roles:
Ronan — always investigating. Like James Bond from the 007 films, searching through books and computers, scanning the crowds. But unlike Ollie’s aimlessness, Ronan seemed to know exactly what he was doing. His mission was clear, and his actions were precise and purposeful.
Maxime — always chasing. Ultimately, he too was searching — but in a different way. Like a detective, following someone’s trail, picking up clues, and darting through the crowds. You could spot him chasing relentlessly, not wandering but pursuing.
Cliff — actions unknown. He seemed to be waiting... observing... perhaps even calculating. Maybe he was the one being chased. Or maybe he was the connection between the other three. Or perhaps — he was the villain behind it all. Too many possibilities to count.
Ollie, Ronan, and Maxime were all searching, yet for different reasons. Maybe they were looking for each other. Maybe they were broken fragments of one group. Or maybe they were enemies.
And Cliff? Floating outside the main storyline — was he the beginning or the end? Could it be that one of them was searching for Cliff, drawing him into the loop and breaking the cycle, expanding the story into an entire world?
“Maybe, possibly, probably...” Those were the only words in Sophie’s mind. Everything was uncertain. The clues poured down like a waterfall — intense, chaotic, overwhelming.
There was a simpler explanation.
Start with the album cover: Ollie disappears. Ronan and Maxime set off to find him. Cliff holds the fort.
A basic story about reuniting the band.
But... is it really that simple?
At the climax of the video — Why were Ronan and Maxime at odds? Why did Ollie, after seeing them, not approach, and instead vanish? Why did Cliff watch everything unfold through a TV screen — and do nothing?
Clearly, the story wasn’t so straightforward.
Sigh... Sophie felt like her brain was overloaded. She needed to take a breath and gather her thoughts — and, most importantly, reassure herself that she wasn’t just overthinking it.
Maybe the band had created a simple narrative, and fans were overanalyzing it out of love and obsession. If so, it might seem alienating to newcomers and even come off as pretentious.
But Sophie was certain — dead certain — that it wasn’t just her imagination. The clues were there. The music video was meant to be explored this way.
So she calmed down and hit play — for the seventh time. This time, not for the story — but to appreciate the video’s cinematic quality.
“Oh my god!”
Even though Sophie wasn’t a movie buff, she could clearly see the exceptional production — the visuals, the lighting, the camera work — every detail screamed film-level quality. Combine that with a tightly woven, mind-bending story, and it was truly perfection.
They must’ve spent a fortune on this video.
And then there was—
The visual appeal.
Sophie had to admit — until this moment, she had never really paid attention to how the band members looked. Or rather, she had, but she never cared. What drew her in was the live performances, the music — not appearances.
But in this video, each member’s features were captured up-close. Once you noticed, it was impossible to ignore.
Sophie realized for the first time that Maxime was ridiculously handsome — like a golden-age Hollywood star with a hint of Italian charm. Striking.
But the real standout was Ronan. On camera, he had an undeniable presence — like someone who was born for the spotlight. Every move, every glance — you couldn’t look away.
Some people were just meant to shine under the lights.
Without even realizing it, Sophie found herself slipping deeper and deeper into the world of the music video — and soon, she was hitting play for the ninth time.
She couldn’t stop.
Chapter 293: Difficulty Challenge
“So handsome. Seriously, so handsome.”
“Huh? How did I never notice before? Wow… Ronan is so good-looking. Ahhh, what do I do? I want to scream! He's so incredibly good-looking!”
After watching the music video, flipping through the album booklet, then watching the music video again, Sophie ended up hugging the booklet and rolling around on her bed. Her entire body radiated pink, lovey-dovey vibes like an 18-year-old girl, her mind filled with wild, unfiltered daydreams—completely unable to stop.
It took quite a while for her to calm down a bit. Realizing just how fangirly she'd acted, Sophie’s cheeks turned burning red. She quickly looked left and right, making sure she was alone in the room and no one had seen her embarrassing display. Only then did she feel a little more at ease.
Phew…
She let out a long breath, sat back up, and looked at the album booklet in her arms, trying to convince herself:
“I only like them because of their talent. It just happens that their looks match my taste. That’s it. I’m not shallow. I’m definitely not just into their faces!”
“Yep! That’s right!”
Feeling a bit more justified, Sophie returned to her computer and reflexively refreshed the page. Then, to her shock, she saw that the music video’s views had already skyrocketed to 50,000.
Sure, since “Gangnam Style” became the first video in internet history to surpass a billion views last month, YouTube had entered a whole new era. Music videos now commonly racked up tens of millions of views, and those with millions were a dime a dozen.
So, in that context, “50,000 views” was barely a blip—not even a speck of dust compared to the giants, where big-name artists often get 50,000 views per second.
But for One Day King, this was a huge leap. In less than thirty minutes, they had already hit a new record.
Considering One Day King's YouTube channel had less than 10,000 subscribers, and their Twitter account had only a bit over 30,000 followers, 50,000 views seemed almost unbelievable.
Could it be? Had One Day King finally gone viral?
That had to be the only explanation—otherwise, there was no way they’d hit 50K views in just half an hour.
Sophie’s heart raced with excitement. Her hands even started to tremble as she quickly opened Twitter to get connected with the world.
Whoosh!
A flood of information poured in. Sophie didn’t even bother to read everything carefully. She went straight to the official One Day King account—nothing new there. Then she checked the “#OneDayKingdom” hashtag—and boom! That’s where the goldmine was.
“Did anyone actually understand the ‘My Demon’ music video? #OneDayKingdom”
“This is frying my brain. I feel too dumb. Someone explain it! #OneDayKingdom”
“Was this a $100 million blockbuster or what? Can someone break down the plot? I’m so confused. #OneDayKingdom”
“Incredible! From the single to the album to the music video, One Day King’s worldbuilding is insane. They’re not making music—they’re making art! #OneDayKingdom”
“What the hell? Fans should know their limits. This is just trash. #OneDayKingdom”
“What’s so hard to get? It’s just a bunch of people running around being dramatic. #OneDayKingdom”
“Just because the editing is flashy doesn’t mean it’s deep. Don’t insult the word ‘mind-blowing.’ This is boring. #OneDayKingdom”
“Don’t fool yourself into thinking you understood the video. You’ll only expose your ignorance. #OneDayKingdom”
“A truly massive universe! I’m not kidding—this is my fifth time watching, and I still don’t get it. #OneDayKingdom”
“Can someone please explain what this is about? #OneDayKingdom”
“Anyone got a breakdown? What’s going on in this video? #OneDayKingdom”
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! I can’t stop saying whoa! #OneDayKingdom”
“One Day King is epic! #OneDayKingdom”
“I’m losing my mind—my brain is about to explode! #OneDayKingdom”
Even with a quick scan, Sophie could feel the buzz from all the chatter under the hashtag. Opinions flew in from every direction, like a chaotic open-air market. The sheer energy practically radiated through the screen—everyone shouting to be heard.
It was electric!
Clearly, the hashtag had pulled in a bunch of curious onlookers, and the release of the My Demon music video gave them something new to chew on. People wondering what “#OneDayKingdom” meant were now being funneled straight into watching the MV on YouTube.
At the same time, Sophie spotted a tweet from Kane’s Twitter account that had already been shared over a thousand times and liked by more than 3,000 users. It was clearly the spark that helped ignite this frenzy.
“Challenge! I bet no one can actually understand the My Demon music video! #OneDayKingdom”
If there’s one thing netizens hate, it’s having their intelligence challenged—especially when it comes to “mind-bending” content. Everyone believes they’re smart. If others don’t get it, it must be because they’re dumb. I can totally figure it out!
So naturally, people jumped in, eager to prove how clever they were by explaining the video’s plot based on their own interpretations.
Just that one word—“challenge”—was enough to turn passive viewers into active participants.
Even people who didn’t care about being “smart” were curious to see what all the fuss was about. And hey, it’s just a music video—not Inception or some two-hour sci-fi epic. It only takes five minutes. Anyone can watch it.
And that’s how the chain reaction began.
By midnight, One Day King—who had been virtually unknown just hours earlier—was suddenly at the center of everyone's attention thanks to their music video release.
In the ten minutes Sophie had spent browsing Twitter, she checked YouTube again and saw that the view count had already doubled:
And the momentum was still building.
Even more impressively, the YouTube comments section was now buzzing. The top-liked comment wasn’t about the complex plot—it was about how cinematic the video looked.
“This is definitely the trailer for Warner Bros’ $200 million summer blockbuster next year, right?”
That comment had already earned 633 likes from even the most critical viewers.
Thump! Thump!
Sophie’s heart pounded like a drum. She was overwhelmed with excitement, barely able to resist the urge to scream. But this time, she held it back.
Because now?
Now she couldn’t wait to jump in and join the discussion frenzy. She had so many thoughts to share with everyone.
She just couldn’t wait anymore!
Chapter 294 – Brainstorm
“...Duncan? Duncan! Wake up, it’s your turn.”
A strong shove hit Duncan Turner’s back, jolting him out of his deep sleep. He nearly rolled off the bed, sat up with a groggy mutter of, “Yeah, yeah, I know,” but his body remained still—his foggy brain still struggling to catch up. Only when he heard the wailing cries of a baby did he start to slowly... slowly realize what was going on, clearing up just a little.
It was Jack Turner—barely 18 months old. The little guy still hadn’t gotten used to sleeping on his own, waking up every now and then in the middle of the night. Sometimes it was hunger, sometimes a wet diaper, and sometimes... maybe he just woke up and didn’t like being alone.
Jack was the third child in the Turner family. The other two were already grown—one was nine, the other seven. Duncan hadn’t dealt with newborn chaos in years, and the past year and a half had taken its toll. His back and legs constantly ached, and though only in his mid-thirties, he already felt the weariness of a man in his fifties.
“Waaah. Waaah. Waaah.”
The sharp cries echoed stubbornly through the house. Duncan realized he had no choice but to get up. If the other two kids woke up, that would be real chaos.
He rolled out of bed quickly, his eyes barely open, but his steps were practiced. He made his way to Jack’s room, lifted the little guy from his crib, and checked him over like a pro. Yep—wet diaper. No wonder the kid was making such a fuss.
Wiping him down, changing him, soothing him back to sleep—it all took nearly half an hour. Finally, the mischievous little boy drifted off again, sucking his thumb peacefully, totally unaware of the hell he’d just put his dad through. Duncan, watching his son’s sleeping face, couldn’t help but smile helplessly.
After gently laying Jack back in the crib, Duncan turned to head back to bed—only to notice the sky outside had already started to brighten. A soft gray light spread across the horizon, the last trace of night fading from the sky. Beyond the rooftops and streets, the first streak of light stretched toward the edge of the world.
He checked the time. Almost 6 a.m. Even in winter, New Orleans always greeted the morning early. Duncan realized that even if he went back to bed, he’d barely get thirty more minutes of sleep before he had to get up again and get the kids ready for school.
He was still tired—but not that tired anymore. His brain had mostly shaken off the fog.
After a moment’s thought, Duncan turned toward the kitchen and brewed himself a pot of coffee. He stood by the sink, sipping slowly while gazing out the window, quietly watching the world brighten. That rare peace, that silence, helped him settle.
But something still felt... missing.
He walked toward the living room, pulled out his work laptop, opened Spotify, and searched for the One Day Kingdom album Seven. He clicked on the track “Chasing the Light,” lowered the volume, and let the familiar melody flow softly through the air. Even the aroma of coffee seemed more magical now.
Setting his mug aside, he opened Twitter and casually scrolled through entertainment and sports news, savoring the quiet moment.
Scroll. Scroll scroll.
His fingers mindlessly flicked the feed, his eyes skimming over text and images without much thought.
Wait. Hold on. What did that headline just say?
He quickly scrolled back to find it. A new topic tag caught his eye:
“Unbelievable! It's already 2012—who still makes music videos like Michael Jackson? But this one—was amazing! I miss the '80s! #OneDayKingdom”
One Day Kingdom? Was that related to One Day King? And what music video? Why bring up Michael Jackson all of a sudden?
The tweet was from a freelance writer Duncan followed—not a big name, just a veteran music lover who’d turned to blogging and making YouTube reviews. He didn’t have a huge following—barely over 100,000 on Twitter—but Duncan liked him. His takes were fair and professional. If something was bad, he’d say so; if it was good, he’d explain why. No blind hype.
So, what had he said about a music video?
On impulse, Duncan clicked on the hashtag. The page refreshed—and suddenly, a whole new world unfolded before him.
Thump-thump.
His heart skipped a beat, then kicked back into high gear. He leaned slightly forward, eyes devouring the screen. The exhaustion and fog vanished without him even noticing.
One post caught his eye instantly. The username looked like... Sophie something? The long-form post had already been retweeted over a thousand times and was approaching ten thousand likes. It was going viral.
Duncan didn’t hesitate—he clicked.
“What kind of world is One Day Kingdom?”
In the post, the user offered a deep dive into the music video for My Demon, the “Chasing the Light” single cover, and the front and back covers of the Seven album. She laid out a massive world-building theory, packed with chilling details.
For example— On page 13 of the album booklet, Ronan’s pupil reflects the image of another Ronan. At first, it seemed like a mirror reflection—but further analysis revealed other possibilities.
Or— At 2:27 into the music video, Ollie’s neck reveals a barcode as he sprints—possibly hinting that he’s a robot or a clone.
Or— In the upper right corner of the album cover, in the torn-apart space station, you can faintly see a silhouette leaning by the window. The band only has four members—so who’s the fifth figure?
All these details? Real. No Photoshop. No exaggeration.
According to the post, even the band’s costumes contained hidden meanings. Most notably, Ronan’s behavior in the music video changed depending on whether he wore dark or light-colored clothes—hinting at parallel realities or inner conflict.
Brainstorm.
Duncan couldn’t believe his eyes. The post was nearly 10,000 words long, practically a short novel. It didn’t just theorize different narrative directions—three of them, in fact—it also broke down character arcs, track-by-track symbolism, and how each music video tied into the album’s central themes.
It even went deeper—exploring the album’s core ideas, and why the videos were filmed the way they were. Every word was captivating. He lost himself in it, forgetting all about time.
