Chapter 985: Advancement
🕑 Added 2025-07-25 16:45:43 +0000 UTCIn the blink of an eye, several hours passed.
It was now mid-afternoon.
On the clearing at the center of Moon Island, Seimei fused two masses of Water Release and Lightning Release chakra together again, successfully creating Storm Release chakra. His expression froze for a moment.
In that instant, a flood of insights about developing Storm Release surged into his mind.
Unconsciously, he dispersed the Storm Release chakra in his palm and took a moment to process the revelations.
Then, with a thought, he extended his right hand, and silently, a new mass of Storm Release chakra formed in his palm.
This time, he hadn’t even transformed Water Release or Lightning Release chakra—it felt as natural as breathing, almost instinctual.
Looking at the Storm Release chakra in his hand, Seimei knew he’d done it.
After half a day of practice, he’d finally mastered the basics of Storm Release.
So, what’s next?
His expression shifted slightly, as if something had occurred to him. He quickly focused, sensing the changes within his body.
As expected, the stimulation from this new power triggered a qualitative leap in his genes, completing the final mutation.
Seimei’s heart raced with tension. Not long ago, his body and mind had barely regained some balance. If this upset that balance again, he’d be back to living on edge, constantly wary.
Worse, it could even trigger a genetic disorder.
Fortunately, his luck held.
Or rather, his body was strong enough. With a Constitution stat of 27, he withstood the force of the mutation, safely activating the Storm Release kekkei genkai.
Feeling his body stabilize, Seimei let out a long breath of relief.
With a thought, he opened his proficiency panel.
The familiar light blue, translucent panel appeared:

His eyes scanned the panel, locking onto the Bloodline section where Storm Release now read (1/1,000). Seeing this, he finally relaxed completely.
If he might have misjudged due to subjective feelings, the panel’s data was undeniable.
Years of experience had proven that.
In other words, he had indeed mastered the basics of Storm Release.
“Not bad!” Seimei nodded with satisfaction.
He reached out again, conjuring another mass of Storm Release chakra.
Then, the chakra shifted form, suddenly turning into a blue-white beam that shot outward.
Before it hit its target, Seimei willed it to split into seven or eight smaller streams, each precisely striking different targets.
Clearly, compared to the Storm Release he’d just fused, this was far more refined.
This showcased the fluid, versatile nature of Water Release chakra.
The massive craters left by the impacts, combined with the piercing force of lightning, demonstrated that it also inherited the sharp, destructive power of Lightning Release chakra.
Blending these traits, Storm Release’s maneuverability and practicality clearly surpassed his other kekkei genkai.
Seimei had a fleeting thought—maybe he should learn a few Storm Release ninjutsu to further diversify his combat options.
But that was for later. No need to rush.
For now, his top priority was to complete his body’s transformation and boost his Constitution stat to strengthen the balance between his body and mind.
While developing Storm Release hadn’t disrupted the balance he’d established, it had still impacted his body.
He could feel his mind exerting slightly more pressure on his body now.
If he didn’t boost his Constitution soon, that balance could tip within days.
That was something Seimei absolutely wanted to avoid.
So, he wouldn’t waste energy searching for or learning Storm Release ninjutsu.
That said, developing Storm Release, despite its drawbacks, had once again enhanced his potential.
This lowered the difficulty of strengthening his body.
Though he hadn’t tested it precisely, based on his experience with advancing Lava Release, Seimei estimated this would save him a week to ten days.
In other words, by mid-October at the latest, his body would reach the cusp of transformation.
And that didn’t even account for his upcoming training in the second cavity.
Today marked the eighteenth day since he’d switched training locations. Initially, he’d estimated it would take one to one-and-a-half months to fully adapt to the harsh conditions of the first cavity.
But half a month ago, when his Lava Release advanced again, his resistance to the volcanic heat increased, shortening that timeline.
Seimei figured he’d need just ten more days before he could attempt training in the second cavity below.
With that even harsher environment, his body’s strengthening would undoubtedly accelerate.
Then there was Wood Release.
After over half a month of practice, its proficiency had reached (4,750/5,000). In eight or nine days at most, it would advance.
That would further shorten the time until his body’s transformation.
Combining all these factors, he wouldn’t even need to wait until mid-October for his body to complete its transformation.
With that thought, Seimei breathed a little easier.
Only then did he have the mind to check the other changes on his panel.
First was his chakra.
Over the past month, his chakra cap had increased by over 200,000 points, jumping from just over 1.21 million to nearly 1.42 million.
This let him unleash even stronger bursts of power in short-term combat.
Next was his Sharingan’s proficiency.
Despite slowing its progress twice, it had still risen by over 1,300 points.
Now, it had gone from (15,192/100,000) to (16,495/100,000), inching closer to the (20,000/100,000) milestone.
Fortunately, at this rate, his body would complete its transformation just before the Sharingan hit that threshold.
That way, he wouldn’t have to worry about his mind and body falling out of balance.
Then there was his Byakugan.
Its proficiency growth remained steady. Training the Body of Extremes earned him 20 points daily, plus one more from passive body strengthening, totaling 21 points per day.
With its current (1,481/10,000), he was still far from the next stage, so no worries there.
As for the Body of Extremes, he hoped to break its limit.
But despite pouring 500,000 chakra points daily into researching ways to overcome the theoretical barriers of body fusion, half a month had passed with no success.
Seimei could only stay patient.
Lastly, there was the Wood Clone Technique.
After nearly a month of practice, its proficiency had reached Lv7 (16,100/20,000), not far from advancing.
Once it hit Lv8 and then Lv9—the final limit—his wood clones would last longer and store even more chakra.
Thinking of this, Seimei’s gaze drifted to the wooden cabin in the corner of the island.
Another wood clone was merged into it, also storing twenty million chakra points.
And this was just the start.
By his estimate, if nothing major changed, he’d create six wood clones each month to store chakra.
The thought of the chakra lost each time he swapped clones made Seimei wince.
But soon, his Wood Clone Technique would advance.
When it did, the clones would last longer, and he wouldn’t need to replace them as often.
