After about fifteen minutes, Seimei reached the vicinity of his target. Ahead, in the depths of the ocean, a lone island stood in solitude. It was shaped like a crescent moon, stretching about two kilometers long. The widest point in the middle was roughly five hundred meters across, while the narrow ends tapered to just a few dozen meters.
The crescent’s curve faced southwest, almost like it was opening its arms to embrace Seimei as he flew straight toward it. By all accounts, this kind of terrain would make a perfect harbor. Even if no one settled here permanently, the three great nations could’ve used it as a resupply point.
But they didn’t. Why? Besides the brutal sea conditions in this area, there was another big reason: the crescent’s inner curve was littered with reefs, making it impossible for ships to approach.
That’s exactly why this island had been ignored, even back when ships still roamed these waters. And for Seimei, that made it all the more perfect. It meant even the most stubborn sailors were unlikely to venture close. This island was his to claim.
With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Seimei hovered above the island. Out of habit, he activated his Byakugan, scanning the surroundings. Once he confirmed no one was around, he descended.
Unlike the previous island, which wasn’t exactly barren but had sparse vegetation, this place was lush. As Seimei walked through, he even spotted small land animals scurrying about. His mouth watered at the sight.
He was hungry. Eight days of training, chowing down on hundreds of soldier pills—his taste buds were screaming for something real. If he could catch a wild chicken or rabbit, roast it over a fire… man, just thinking about it made his stomach growl.
Wiping a bit of drool from his mouth, Seimei fought the urge to start hunting right then and there. First things first—he needed a proper shelter. With his Byakugan’s x-ray vision, finding a flat, wind-sheltered spot was a breeze.
He glanced at the nearby trees and vines, then got to work. Without hesitation, he raised his hand and unleashed a ninjutsu—Wind Release: Blade of Wind! Whoosh! A massive wind blade, five or six meters long, shot out, skimming the ground. It flew over ten meters before fading away.
At first, nothing seemed to happen. But a few seconds later, a crack echoed as a large tree tilted and crashed to the side. Like dominoes, the surrounding trees followed, collapsing one after another. Soon, the area was covered in fallen trunks and branches.
Seimei didn’t bother clearing the debris by hand. Instead, he used another ninjutsu—Wind Release: Great Breakthrough! Whoosh! A powerful gust burst from his mouth, effortlessly sweeping the loose trees and branches far away.
Just like that, he’d cleared a flat patch of ground, about five or six meters wide and over ten meters long. Seimei was about to start chopping wood for a cabin when a sudden thought hit him. He paused, then smacked his forehead with a grin.
Stepping to the center of the clearing, he crouched down, pressed his hands to the ground, and channeled Wood Release chakra deep into the earth. Moments later, vines sprouted from the soil, twisting and weaving at his command until they formed a simple wooden cabin, about thirty square meters in size.
Sure, he didn’t know any specific Wood Release techniques, but with his kekkei genkai, building something like this was no problem. Plus, these vines weren’t purely chakra constructs—they were real plant roots from underground, so he didn’t have to worry about the structure collapsing if his chakra ran dry.
Stepping back to admire his work, Seimei nodded in satisfaction. Then he headed to the island’s center and repeated the process, clearing another patch of ground. This time, he used Earth Release: Ultra-Added-Weight Rock Technique to compact the soil until it was harder than stone.
By the time he was done, dusk had settled in. He still had one round of training left for the day, so he didn’t waste any more time. He used the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, summoning 220 shadow clones.
That’s right—220. After half an afternoon of testing, he’d found he could handle that many clones without overloading his mind or wasting too much chakra. So, he went all in.
Of the 220 clones, he sent 218 to find spots to work on Ice Release. One of the remaining two was tasked with roasting some meat, while the other took a storage scroll Seimei tossed its way to set up the cabin.
With the clones off to their tasks, Seimei settled into his own training. Last round, he’d focused on physical conditioning in the ocean trench. This time, it was all about pushing his Sharingan’s evolution.
Sitting cross-legged on the ground, he formed hand signs and activated the Heart Reflection Technique. Three streams of chakra surged within him, flowing through his chakra network and converging in his eyes. A familiar tingling sensation hit, but Seimei powered through the discomfort, carefully guiding the chakra to stimulate his Sharingan’s growth.
Time slipped by, minute by minute.
An hour later, Seimei paused the technique and mentally opened his proficiency panel. Seeing the updated evolution progress for his Sharingan, he gave a satisfied nod. Then he closed the panel and dispelled the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique.
In an instant, over 200 clones vanished, both on and off the island. A flood of memories poured into Seimei’s mind, making him wince. Still, it was within his limits.
He closed his eyes and started sorting through the memories, absorbing the training experience they carried. About fifteen minutes later, he’d processed everything and opened his eyes.
This round’s gains weren’t as big as the last, but Seimei could still feel it—he’d gained new insights into fusing Wind Release and Water Release. After a moment of reflection, he raised his hand and tried combining them a few times. As expected, no success yet.
Brushing it off, Seimei stood up, sensed the location of the clone roasting meat, and vanished in a few quick flashes.
On the other side of the island, a clone sat by a fire, lazily turning a roasting wild chicken. The sizzling sound filled the air. No seasonings, but the Maillard reaction between the meat’s amino acids and sugars was enough to make anyone’s mouth water.
Case in point: Seimei appeared out of nowhere, grabbed the roasted chicken before the clone could say a word, and tore into it. “Hot! Hot! Hot!” he yelped, but kept eating, his eagerness overriding the burn.
