After settling the price, Roy and Saltana headed straight to the large suburban shopping mall where the ghost mirror was located.
You could see that the architectural style of the large shopping mall was quite classical; you could have easily mistaken it for a museum.
Roy noticed that much of the outer layer of the building's facade had peeled off, clearly indicating a lack of regular maintenance.
The area around the large shopping mall had already been cordoned off with caution tape, and a small number of FEA agents were patrolling.
"Who owns this large shopping mall? It looks like it's been around for a while. Isn't anyone taking care of it?"
Such a large building just sitting here empty is such a waste!
The land alone is worth a lot of money; if they could solve the ghost mirror problem, it would be worth at least tens of millions.
"They say this place belongs to a wealthy guy named Roland Gordon. He disappeared a few years ago and didn't have any kids. The rest of his family has been fighting over the inheritance in court for years, so it's just been sitting empty."
Oh, I see. That explains it.
Roy followed Saltana into the interior of the shopping mall.
"Over the past few years, the Gordon family has just hired some security guards to watch the place and keep homeless people out. But every single security guard who's worked here has disappeared, and they're still hiring more."
That family's got a dark side!
Arriving at the center of the mall, Roy saw a rectangular frame covered with a canvas tarp.
"Roy, this is it."
"Saltana, you go on outside and keep watch at the entrance. Don't let anyone in easily."
"Okay! Roy, be careful."
Saltana left the mall to wait for Roy outside, and the inside of the mall became dark and silent.
When the environment becomes very quiet, people's ears will pick up strange sounds, and often these are just auditory hallucinations.
But right now, Roy seemed to hear the screams of the people who were trapped here during the fire that happened back then.
It felt incredibly real; hearing the sounds was like seeing the scene firsthand, the imagery was so vivid.
"Interesting!"
Roy smiled and then walked towards the mirror in the center of the mall.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Roy approached, the canvas covering the mirror slid off automatically, as if it were welcoming him.
They say this mirror was the only thing that wasn't destroyed in the fire, and even after all these years, it's still brand new.
Looking at his handsome face in the mirror, Roy fell into thought.
Destroying the ghost mirror would be a piece of cake for Roy with his current abilities. The tricky part is containing it without destroying it.
Just as he was thinking this, Roy suddenly noticed his reflection in the mirror suddenly flash a creepy smile and then grab its own mouth and start tearing at it.
Soon, the Roy in the mirror tore off his own chin, and the scene was incredibly bloody.
Immediately after, Roy felt like his own chin had a mind of its own, like it was thinking about going solo and making its debut.
It seems that seeing your own death in the mirror also manifests on yourself outside the mirror.
Roy activated his Eye of Truth, and when he looked down, he saw an evil spirit pulling at his chin.
Too bad, this evil spirit wasn't strong enough to even budge Roy's chin. With his 52 points of constitution defense, even a small-caliber bullet wouldn't break the skin.
He pulled out his cursed dagger and casually stabbed the evil spirit in front of him, and the Roy in the mirror instantly vanished.
At that moment, an idea suddenly popped into Roy's head.
It seemed like there were a large number of evil spirits inside this ghost mirror. Individually, they weren't very strong; their power came from being together.
They were no match for Sadako and Kayako.
So, could he just kill most of these evil spirits, leaving only a few, to keep the ghost mirror's effects while making it safer and more controllable?
Roy felt it was worth trying.
So, Roy continued to approach the mirror, and suddenly a bloody hand appeared on its surface. But this bloody hand was actually inside the mirror, not on its surface.
Could he enter the world inside the mirror?
Roy became slightly interested.
There are many urban legends about mirrors, and one of them is about the world inside the mirror. They say it's a world completely opposite to reality, but no one has ever truly seen it.
Now Roy was going to go in and take a look.
Reaching his hand towards the spot on the mirror where the bloody handprint was, Roy was immediately pulled in by a powerful suction force.
Beyond the mirror was a world even darker than the real one, still inside that large shopping mall, but it looked very old and was covered in burn marks everywhere.
This didn't seem quite right. It was too different from the real world. This must be an evil spirit space created by the resentment of the evil spirits, not a pure world inside the mirror.
This ability to create an evil spirit space is something that any moderately powerful evil spirit can do.
For example, Kayako once recreated the process of her own death in the movie "Ju-on." Roy was probably experiencing something similar now.
Standing around him was a ring of burned evil spirits. In the evil spirit space, they would appear in physical form. The whole group was charred black, their eyes filled with hatred for the living.
"Hey there! You guys are so enthusiastic, do you want my autograph?"
Roy greeted the evil spirits with a smile, but they didn't appreciate it at all and started to approach him step by step.
"Seriously, no manners at all! Sadako, Kayako, come on out!"
Two white-clad female ghosts emerged from the cursed twin daggers.
Sadako and Kayako had been receiving Roy's positive energy for a long time. Now, apart from their extremely pale skin, you couldn't tell them apart from humans just by looking at them.
They formed a stark contrast to the charred evil spirits present.
"Sadako, Kayako, absorb these evil spirits, but remember not to suck them all up. Leave a few."
Sadako and Kayako obediently nodded and then got to work.
Most evil spirits have very low intelligence and instinctively harbor malice towards the living, without considering the difference in strength between them.
After receiving Roy's positive energy, Sadako and Kayako's intelligence had skyrocketed, and they were no less intelligent than normal humans.
The battle began. Sadako's hair suddenly started to grow rapidly, her wet, long black hair wrapped around the nearest few evil spirits, dragged them in front of her, and then stuffed them directly into her mouth.
Kayako wasn't going to be outdone. She lay on the ground and, in a bizarrely contorted posture, quickly rushed into the pile of evil spirits, devouring them everywhere.
These burned evil spirits were no match for the two female ghosts at all; the scene was a complete massacre.
That's brutal!
Roy had a kind heart and couldn't bear to watch such a cruel scene, so he could only turn his back and look at the special features of the world inside the mirror.
After observing for a bit, it seemed that the world inside the mirror, apart from being a mirror image of the real world, didn't have any other special features.
Just as he was thinking this, those burned evil spirits, unwilling to be slaughtered by Sadako and Kayako, actually merged together and transformed into a huge, gray undead being.
Huh, they even have a hot-blooded combination move?
Sadako and Kayako looked at Roy, the two female ghosts' small eyes showing a bit of helplessness. Clearly, this large undead being wasn't easy to deal with.
"What are you looking at me for? Alright, I'll lend you the cursed twin daggers. Keep going!"
Roy had made up his mind to watch the show. After all, he'd been working hard for the better part of a year; couldn't he enjoy himself a little?
Sadako and Kayako caught the cursed daggers. Most of the two female ghosts' power was sealed within the daggers; they were only in their complete state when they held them.
The battle continued!
Sadako's long hair became even more terrifying, completely changing the terrain of the scene.
The ceiling, the floor, the walls were all covered in Sadako's wet, black hair, and some of the black hair even formed the shape of a chair for Roy to sit down and watch the battle.
Didn't that just broaden their horizons?
Roy sat down on the soft hair chair and gave Sadako an approving look.
On the other side, Kayako was not to be outdone. Several more arms grew out of her spiritual body, and she quickly crawled towards the huge undead being, using her own arms to control its body.
The places where Kayako's arms grabbed onto quickly turned pitch black. This female ghost's arms actually contained the power of curses, and even the huge undead being, also an evil spirit, couldn't resist.
The huge undead being began to feel fear. Perhaps the merging of more evil spirits had increased its intelligence. This guy finally realized he had bitten off more than he could chew.
This guy no longer had any intention of killing Roy; he just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.
Unfortunately, running away was impossible. Sadako's hair was everywhere in the entire shopping mall, making it impossible for the huge undead being to move an inch.
Sadako continued to grow her hair, using it to wrap around the huge undead being's limbs, completely immobilizing it.
Then, the two female ghosts used the cursed daggers to cut apart and devour the huge undead being's body.
The huge undead being's body burst into green flames, trying to make a last-ditch effort.
This green flame had a certain destructive power against spiritual bodies, and for a moment, it actually prevented Sadako and Kayako from approaching the huge undead being.
However, Sadako and Kayako weren't pushovers. The two female ghosts stood hand in hand in front of the huge undead being, and then some pitch-black liquid surged up from the ground.
It looked a lot like the stuff that was produced when they killed the evil spirits earlier.
The pitch-black liquid quickly covered the huge undead being, extinguishing the green flames on its body.
After that, Sadako and Kayako could continue their meal.
Finally, after losing two-thirds of its body, the huge undead being finally exploded, splitting back into the burned evil spirits from before.
[Ding! Obtained the Mirror Spirit's Fate Treasure Chest! Open it?]
Huh, you can get a Fate Treasure Chest from the evil spirits that Sadako and Kayako killed?
Roy instantly sat up straight.
Theoretically, Sadako and Kayako could be considered the spirit weapons of the cursed twin daggers. They were both Roy's possessions, so anything killed by them could also be considered killed by Roy.
Well, that's a nice surprise!
After the mirror spirit died, only a few burned undead beings were left trembling in the corner, unable to even maintain the evil spirit space.
Roy felt it was about time, so he told Sadako and Kayako to stop.
In fact, the two female ghosts had each eaten an average of seventy or eighty evil spirits. They were already quite full, their stomachs slightly bulging, but their evil spirit instincts prevented them from stopping eating on their own.
However, as soon as Roy gave the order, Sadako and Kayako obediently stopped.
Ignoring the few trembling evil spirits, Roy was more interested in the world outside the shopping mall.
Roy wanted to know if this world inside the mirror only contained the shopping mall or if it encompassed a wider world.
Gently pushing open the mall doors, Roy saw a world that was a mirror image of reality, except he didn't see any FEA agents.
In the distance was the brightly lit downtown area of Los Angeles, and everything seemed to be pretty much the same as the real world.
The only difference was probably the sky in the mirror world. Red lightning constantly flashed across the black night sky, and the weather in this world seemed very harsh.
So, are there humans in this world too?
Are the humans here just mirror images of the humans in the real world?
Roy's curiosity grew, so he told Sadako and Kayako to watch his back while he prepared to go out and explore a little.
You could see that the area around the shopping mall in the mirror world was also the same as in the real world, except for the reversed orientation.
But after walking only a few steps, some fog began to rise around Roy, which made him alert.
Roy quickly returned to the mall, closed the doors again, and even used wooden planks lying on the ground to barricade them, preventing the evil spirits from the mirror world from getting out.
After taking care of all this, Roy returned the way he came, back through the mirror into the real world.
This mirror could actually travel between two worlds. He wondered if giving it to the FEA would be a good thing or a bad thing.
He should probably explain it to Saltana.
Covering the mirror with the canvas tarp again, Roy walked out of the shopping mall.
Seeing Roy appear, Saltana immediately came up to him.
"Roy, what's the situation? Are you hurt?"
"Do I look like I'm hurt?"
Roy struck a playful pose.
"Alright, alright, I know you're tough! Tell me about the mirror!"
"I've pretty much killed off the evil spirits inside the mirror, leaving only a few. That way, the mirror can still retain some of its power without being too dangerous. But the most troublesome thing about this mirror isn't actually the evil spirits inside."
This surprised Saltana a bit.
"What is it?"
Roy looked around.
"Let's talk about it in the car!"
Getting into his used yellow Chevrolet Camaro, Roy started the car and explained to Saltana as he drove towards the Dolphin Hotel.
"I discovered a world inside the mirror!"
"A world inside the mirror?"
Saltana was a bit surprised.
"Yes, on the surface, that world is just a mirror image of the real world, but I don't think it's that simple! In that world, evil spirits can exist in physical form, so I suspect that the physical rules of the mirror world are different from those of the real world!"
Saltana frowned in thought, seeming to realize that this was a tricky situation.
"That sounds complicated. Did you see any humans in that world?"
"No. I felt like that world was strange, so I didn't explore it deeply. Coincidentally, in that world, the shopping mall had also experienced a fire, and there weren't many people around."
Saltana thought for a moment, feeling that this matter was beyond her level of authority to decide.
"I'll report this to Gerald and see what he thinks."
"You absolutely, positively, definitely need to handle that mirror with caution!"
Roy used three "definitelys" to emphasize his point, and Saltana nodded solemnly to show that she understood.
Just then, Roy suddenly noticed a figure standing in the middle of the road ahead.
Chapter 156: Iris
"Hit the brakes!"
After the car screeched to a halt, Roy was really weirded out.
Who would be standing in the middle of a road like this, out in the boonies, in the dead of night?
With the high beams on, Roy and Sultana saw a woman standing ahead. She was wearing a white nun's habit, had a black cloth covering her eyes, and was holding a black leather book.
Midnight, nun, blindfolded, black book – those words together gave Roy a bad feeling.
Could it be...?
Sultana, though, didn't think too much of it. She leaned out the car window and called out to the white-robed nun.
"Hey, lady! You in some kind of trouble?"
The white-robed nun nodded, and a cold voice came from her rosy lips.
"Yes, I am looking for someone. Might I ask if you two have seen them?"
"Looking for someone?"
Sultana was a little surprised, and the way this person was talking was kind of strange.
Three in the morning, middle of nowhere, with a blindfold on – and she says she's looking for someone?
No way anyone would believe that!
Sultana sensed something wasn't right and looked at Roy.
Roy got out of the car, squinting as he observed the mysterious white-robed nun in front of them.
Even though her face was covered by a black cloth, Roy could feel a sharp gaze.
Sultana wanted to get out too, but Roy stopped her.
"Who are you?"
The white-robed nun expressionlessly "looked" at Roy.
"It seems you are the one I seek. How peculiar, I cannot see your past starting from last September, nor your future."
Roy was shocked. He had transmigrated around last September, and this white-robed nun could actually see the original owner's past?
But she didn't seem to be able to see anything after his arrival. What was going on?
"Who exactly are you?!"
"You may call me Iris. I have come for Isabella."
Roy's suspicions were confirmed. This person was indeed Isabella's colleague, here to cause him trouble.
Iris noticed the change in Roy's expression.
"It seems you know why I'm here."
"Uh, yeah! How's Isabella doing these days?"
Roy was a little embarrassed to ask about Isabella, considering what happened that night. He hadn't exactly turned her down, and he kind of hurt her.
After all, the size of Roy's... well, you know... Isabella had really gone all-in that night. Just thinking about it made him cringe.
So afterward, Roy had seen Isabella walking with a limp, almost bow-legged.
He wondered if that incident had any lasting effects on her.
Iris didn't seem to catch Roy's meaning.
"Isabella is currently in a place repenting for her sins. Why, do you wish to see her?"
If he could, Roy definitely wanted to see Isabella, but he figured she probably didn't want to see him.
"Can you tell me where she is?"
Iris gave a cold smile that somehow looked very kind.
"I can, as long as you tell me what happened two months ago."
Roy frowned slightly. So, this white-robed nun was here because of that incident. She couldn't get the truth from Michael, so she came to him instead?
"If she didn't tell you, I'm not going to either."
This time, Roy felt Iris's sharp gaze even more clearly.
"Then I'm afraid I have no choice but to resort to other means. I hope you can forgive me."
As she spoke, Iris opened the black leather book in her hands and began to chant.
"God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."
Suddenly, a beam of white light appeared in the sky, shining down on Roy and Iris.
The light was warm and gentle, like a mother's gaze, making people feel comfortable from the bottom of their hearts.
"Now, can you tell me the truth?"
Iris's soft voice was like a mother's whisper, instantly making Roy feel an urge to give up resisting.
Sultana watched this scene in shock. Because she was sitting in the car, she wasn't affected by the white light from the sky.
This brainwashing-like ability was terrifying!
Sultana had a bad feeling about this Iris and immediately pulled out her phone to call for backup.
"What the hell did you do to me?!"
Roy knew there was something wrong with the white light, but he just couldn't muster the will to fight back. He could only rely on his willpower to hold on.
But clearly, this wasn't a sustainable solution.
Iris was a little surprised that Roy could hold out for so long.
"Your willpower is truly remarkable, but why do you resist? Wouldn't it be better to just confess everything?"
Roy gritted his teeth and looked at Iris.
"You force people to talk just to get an answer? What you're doing is no different from what a demon would do!"
This made Iris frown slightly, but her attitude remained firm.
"I do not wish to harm you. I simply want to know the truth!"
Iris really didn't want to hurt Roy, but Roy knew that if he told the truth, he might end up hurting Isabella.
It looked like he couldn't hold on much longer. He had no choice but to go all out against this person.
Fear Domain, expand!
An invisible dark aura spread out from Roy's body. Iris instantly felt her heart skip a beat, which caused her to lose control of her ability, and the white light above their heads dissipated.
"The power of darkness! Who are you?!"
Judging from the type of power, the Fear Domain was indeed driven by negative energy, so calling it the power of darkness wasn't wrong.
However, Roy had never used the Fear Domain for anything bad. Except for his lecherous side, his actions were basically in line with justice, otherwise Michael wouldn't have let him go.
Without the interference of the white light, Roy's aura immediately surged.
"Lofty angel, take a good look at me. Can you sense even the slightest bit of sin on me?"
Although Iris didn't have the Eyes of Judgment, as a basic ability of an archangel, she could still sense whether there was sin on Roy.
Not only was there none, but because he had killed a large number of demons and dark creatures, Roy could even be called a hero.
This situation made Iris fall silent.
"Weapons have no good or evil; it's the person who uses them who does! What do you think, lofty angel?"
The title "lofty angel" was full of sarcasm, making Iris frown, but she had to admit that he was right.
Because even in heaven, there were angels who used the power of light and fell into hell, and it wasn't just one or two.
"Perhaps you are right, but I will definitely find the truth with these eyes given to me by God."
Iris closed the black leather book in her hands, seemingly having no intention of continuing her attack, and turned to leave.
Roy breathed a slight sigh of relief. He didn't really want to fight this mysterious angel either. Her power was unfathomable, and her ability to control words was even more unpredictable.
If they really fought, Roy might end up revealing his Nephilim identity.
The saying that Nephilim are called traitors and hated by both heaven and hell was no joke.
Once exposed, Roy could face a long period of being hunted down.
However, Roy was also a little curious about who the angel inside Iris was.
"Wait a minute, Ms. Iris. Can you tell me your real identity?"
Iris's steps clearly faltered for a moment, and then she answered Roy.
"My name is Uriel."
It was her!
No wonder her attitude was so firm just now!
Uriel was one of the four archangels, considered the angel who rules over hell. During the final judgment, or the end of the world, she was the angel responsible for opening the gates of hell and carrying out the judgment.
Among the four archangels, she was second only to Michael, the angel of judgment, in dealing with demons.
However, Uriel was also the angel who warned Noah about the great flood. As God's messenger, this also meant she wasn't without compassion.
So, in some mystical sects, like Gnosticism, Uriel was believed to possess prophetic abilities and was a symbol of wisdom.
Now it seemed that this Uriel was a combination of both: wisdom and fear.
Thinking about it this way, it seemed like he might be able to use this to his advantage!
So, taking advantage of the fact that Iris hadn't gone far, Roy hurried a few steps and caught up to her.
"Ms. Iris, I have some important information to tell you!"
Iris was a little speechless at Roy's shamelessness.
Just now, they were at each other's throats, and now he was suddenly all smiles?
"Speak," Iris said, not stopping her steps.
"I've discovered that the King of Greed seems to be plotting some kind of conspiracy in this city!"
This made Iris stop in her tracks. She turned her head to look at Roy with a very serious expression.
"Is what you say true?!"
"It's absolutely true! I swear on the holy light you just released! The King of Greed is indeed plotting something big, and I've also discovered the cult of the King of Gluttony in this city!"
Iris looked closely at Roy's face, trying to determine if he was lying. Her eyes could not only see a person's past and future but also tell if they were being truthful.
"This is actually true! No wonder I felt this city was full of sin and depravity as soon as I arrived!"
Hearing this, Iris had already put the matter of finding the truth behind her. She was the guardian of hell. If she allowed Mammon and Beelzebub to cause such a big commotion in the human world, it would be an extremely serious dereliction of duty.
Thinking of this, Iris nodded to Roy.
"Thank you very much for the warning. I will deal with the King of Greed and the King of Gluttony!"
Iris naturally took the responsibility of fighting the two demon kings upon herself. Sometimes, these goody-two-shoes types were quite endearing.
"Then I won't bother you any longer, Ms. Iris! Goodbye!"
Roy smiled and waved goodbye to Iris, then turned around and went back to his car.
Sultana breathed a sigh of relief after seeing Roy return safely, and then quickly called her superiors to cancel the alert.
"Who was that white-robed nun? Even you weren't a match for her?"
Whether he was a match or not was still uncertain. Roy hadn't actually fought Iris, so the outcome was unknown.
If angels didn't descend to the human world in their true forms, their combat power would definitely be limited, depending on the compatibility between the human host and the angel, as well as the host's ability to withstand the power.
However, Roy didn't deny it. He didn't want to fight Iris anyway; there was no benefit in it for him.
Of course, if it was a fight like the one with Isabella, Roy would definitely be willing.
"Very troublesome! That white-robed nun is the human host of Uriel!"
Sultana gasped.
"Uriel? So she's an angel! Good heavens, angels really do exist!"
Roy gave Sultana a strange look.
"You've even seen demons. Why are you surprised that angels exist in this world?"
"It's just a natural reaction, and I haven't actually seen an angel in person before!"
Actually, Sultana had seen one before, and even ridden on an angel like a rocking horse!
That's right, in a way, Roy was also an angel, although he had never shown Sultana his angelic form.
At this moment, Sultana had another thought.
"With the archangel Uriel here, won't things be easier for us?"
Roy rolled his eyes inwardly, thinking that Sultana was still being too optimistic. Angels weren't that easy to fool.
"It's more like it's going to be trouble! Angels have no tolerance for wrongdoing. They only see whether someone is good or bad, not their status, and they certainly don't care about the bigger picture! Do you remember the bloody incident at the Austin private club?"
Sultana was shocked. Although the case was suppressed by the Texas authorities, she had still heard some rumors from Ilena.
"I remember that case. Dozens of important figures in politics and business died. Could it be...?"
"Yes! That case was a joint effort between me and another angel in human form, Michael. But I only dealt with the members of the dark web. That angel killed all the remaining big shots in politics and business!"
Hearing this, Sultana fell silent.
How many politicians and wealthy businessmen in America had clean hands?
If an angel saw them, they would probably at least get a beating, and those with heinous crimes would be killed.
If that happened, Los Angeles would definitely be in big trouble.
Roy could see what Sultana was thinking. After all, what a country needed was order, not just a simple distinction between good and evil.
Even if Sultana disapproved of the actions of some politicians and wealthy individuals, there was nothing she could do about it.
"However, the problem probably hasn't reached that point yet. Uriel doesn't have Michael's ability to instantly see justice and sin, so the damage should be less."
This made Sultana breathe a slight sigh of relief.
"We still need to prepare in advance, or it'll be like Austin all over again! Damn it, why are things getting more and more troublesome?"
Sultana was a little worried. The current workload was already making even a workaholic like her feel dizzy.
"Sister Sultana, look on the bright side. At least for Jack Del's case, we have an angel leading the charge, right? By the way, should I drive you home?"
Hearing this, Sultana grabbed Roy's shirt.
"Go to my place! I'm really worked up right now and need to blow off some steam!"
Looking at Sultana's fiery eyes, Roy felt that tonight would be another fierce battle.
Iris (Pictures of nuns are really hard to find)
Chapter 157: You've Got Some Nerve, Kid
Tonight's "fight" saw Sultana in full Valkyrie mode, activating her "strong attack talent" right from the start.
Looks like all the stress my big sister had been building up these past couple of days was no joke. With flames practically burning in her eyes, Sultana was like a berserker, just charging straight ahead.
"My turn!"
No time to mourn the temporarily incapacitated Sultana. Next into the fray was Amy, the Moon Goddess!
Just then, Roy heard the sound of a door opening, and a familiar female voice came from behind him.
"So this is why Sultana was in such a hurry to call me back. It's because of you!"
Smack! The woman behind him slapped Roy right on the butt.
Among the women Roy knew, only Ilena had such a bold style.
"Sister Ilena, did Sister Sultana ask you to come?"
Ilena happily knelt down, then continued speaking hesitantly.
The fighting power of these three big sisters was truly impressive, almost on par with the ancient desire witches.
Too bad who knows when the next time we'd get this mahjong table full.
"Alright folks, welcome back to the Santa Monica Cup Heavyweight Amateur Boxing Tournament! We're now in the third round of the quarterfinals, the third match of the night, featuring in the blue corner, 'Grim Reaper' Roy Black, and in the red corner, 'Brown Bear' Renato Luis!"
Time flew by, and it was already the night of the third round of the elimination tournament. The one-against-three battle from the previous night hadn't affected Roy's condition at all. He was still full of energy, his whole body brimming with power.
"Mr. Black, this 'Brown Bear' Renato Luis is an experienced pro boxer who's even fought for a championship belt before, almost winning it. He retired for a while due to an injury. My guess is this guy wants to make a comeback to professional boxing, so he's using the amateur circuit to get back in shape. He'll be the toughest opponent you've faced so far!"
So, a former professional trying to make a comeback, huh?
You don't see opponents like that very often.
Roy was intrigued.
"Do we have any info on him?"
Allen handed Renato Luis's file to Roy and continued explaining.
This guy had really done his homework.
"Renato Luis is a classic 'Great White Bear' type of fighter, standing at 6'9" (2.06 meters) and weighing in at 242 pounds (about 110 kilograms)! In his pro fights, this guy was known for his ability to take a beating! Mr. Black, this is the first time you're facing a boxer with such a significant size difference, so you have to be careful!"
Roy looked at the picture of Renato Luis and his bulky physique. He definitely looked like he could take a punch.
"No big deal! With his size, he's gotta be slow. I can take him!"
Forget 242 pounds, even at 442 pounds, with Roy's current strength, it would be a one-punch knockout.
Allen nodded.
"I believe in you, Mr. Black. Your talent is unlike anything I've ever seen in my life! If there's anyone in the current boxing world who can become the undisputed heavyweight champion, I think that person is you!"
The professional boxing world has many boxing organizations. The most prestigious right now are the World Boxing Association (WBA), the World Boxing Council (WBC), the World Boxing Organization (WBO), and the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
Winning a championship belt from any of these four organizations earns you the title of world champion.
And only by simultaneously holding the championship belts from all four major organizations can you be called the undisputed champion.
For a long time, the heavyweight championship belts have been in a state of fragmented ownership.
The closest anyone ever got to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion, and coincidentally the source of Roy's boxing talent, was Mike Tyson.
Tyson held three championship belts, but during his prime, the WBO hadn't yet risen to prominence, so he never fought for the WBO title.
Because of this, no heavyweight boxer has ever unified all four major boxing organizations... until 2024, when Oleksandr Usyk would accomplish this feat.
Undisputed champion, huh? Roy was determined to make it happen.
But one step at a time. He still needed to finish the Santa Monica Cup and then think about other things after getting into UCLA.
"Go get 'em, kid!"
Allen's attitude towards Roy was getting better and better. After all, the more successful the boxer he trained, the better it reflected on his coaching skills.
Boxers and coaches were always tied together.
Now Allen was experiencing the feeling of being carried to success, just like Lambert had, so naturally, his opinion of Roy had improved a lot.
Roy put on his protective gear and walked out of the tent, facing a thunderous wave of cheers. However, Renato Luis also had a significant cheering section. This was the first time an opponent's cheers were comparable to Roy's, but then again, Renato was a well-known former professional boxer.
Stepping into the ring, Roy, as usual, waved to the fans who supported him. But at this moment, he noticed that there were many strange people mixed in with the audience.
These people were constantly moving through the crowd, greeting spectators and discussing something. They were clearly different from the normal fans.
However, Roy only glanced at them briefly and didn't pay much attention, continuing to greet the young women and older ladies who supported him.
Yeah, you could see the difference between Roy and Renato Luis right there.
The fans supporting Renato Luis, the veteran boxer, were mostly middle-aged men and quite a few older guys.
But Roy's supporters were a huge number of young women. Their numbers were almost equal to his male supporters, which was pretty crazy.
No way around it, women are visual creatures. Roy was so handsome and such a great fighter, so naturally, he attracted a large number of female fans.
These female fans were incredibly enthusiastic. Every time Roy appeared, they would scream wildly, and there were even some generous fans who would flash their "luxury headlights" to attract his attention.
No wonder it was America. So open.
The referee, as usual, began reading the rules and regulations. Renato Luis looked at Roy indifferently, his mental state very stable.
This man was already thirty years old, and both his body and technique were at their peak. No wonder he wanted to make a comeback to professional boxing.
"Hey, old timer, you're getting up there in years. Why are you still fighting young guys? Aren't you afraid of drooling in your old age?"
Boxing takes a much greater toll on the body than other competitive sports. Most boxers retire due to injuries and suffer in their later years because of old wounds.
The legendary Muhammad Ali developed Parkinson's disease not long after retiring. This disease was almost becoming an occupational hazard for boxers.
Renato Luis's eye twitched slightly. Clearly, Roy's words had hit a sore spot.
Having already suffered one major injury, another serious injury for Renato Luis would likely mean the end of his boxing career forever, and he might even have difficulty living a normal life in his later years.
That's the cruelty of competitive sports.
This scene also shocked the audience. They now understood where Roy's nickname "Grim Reaper" came from.
After a moment of silence, the entire audience began to frantically chant Roy's nickname, going completely wild.
"The referee announces Black as the winner by knockout! Good heavens, folks, Black is definitely the hardest-hitting boxer I've ever seen! It's unimaginable what would happen if a punch like that landed on an ordinary person! Instead of calling him the Grim Reaper, I'd rather call him the Nuclear Warhead! He's as terrifying as a nuke, destroying his opponents with overwhelming force!"
Many commentators have a habit of giving nicknames to fighters. Once a nickname catches on, it also benefits the commentator.
The commentator at the scene gave Roy a new nickname, and this nickname was recognized by many in the audience. They felt that Roy's fighting style was as explosive as a nuclear bomb.
After winning, Roy stepped off the stage and celebrated with a few girls. They started walking towards the Dolphin Hotel.
Halfway there, several men in black suddenly blocked Roy's path.
"Mr. Black, can we have a word?"
Roy looked at the people blocking his way in surprise. These men in black didn't seem to be government officials.
"Who are you?"
"Don't worry, Mr. Black. We just have a business proposition for you."
Business?
Roy raised an eyebrow slightly, then looked at the girls beside him.
"You guys go back to the Dolphin Hotel first. I'll talk business with these gentlemen."
Unexpectedly, the men in black continued to block the girls' path.
"Mr. Black, the ladies can't leave until we've finished our conversation."
Roy's face fell. The men in black were threatening him. If the business deal didn't go their way, the girls might not be able to leave.
"Interesting! I haven't encountered anyone who dares to threaten me like this before!"
A sinister smile appeared on the faces of the men in black.
"There's always a first time, isn't there? Now, come with us!"
As they spoke, several men in black pulled out handguns from their pockets.
The location where Roy and the girls were was not very crowded, and it was nighttime, so no one noticed the guns in the hands of the men in black.
"Alright, lead the way."
Roy gave a helpless smile, seemingly giving in.
But in the next second, a terrifying aura emanated from Roy, sweeping over all the men in black.
Fear Domain, expand!
The men in black only felt a blur before their eyes, and various terrifying images flashed before them, scaring them so much that they almost pulled their triggers.
However, Roy was faster. He punched the nearest man in the face, caving it in.
Then, he grabbed another man whose gun was about to go off, directly breaking his arm and causing him to shoot himself in the thigh.
Afterward, he kicked a man further away in the chest, sending him flying more than ten meters.
The chest of this guy was kicked in, and he spat out a large mouthful of blood, already gasping for air.
Finally, there was only the man who had spoken to Roy left. He should have been the leader.
"You've got some nerve, kid! You actually dared to threaten them to get to me?"
