Sultana actually called and invited Roy out for drinks.
Since his big sister was in such a good mood and even took the initiative to invite him for a drink, Roy knew she must have received some news.
"Of course, I'm free, but at my age, I might not be able to get into a bar."
Los Angeles wasn't like Waterfall Town; no one here would give Roy special treatment.
"I know a great bar, the location is very discreet, and I know the owner. He'll definitely let you in."
"Then tell me the address."
Half an hour later, Roy arrived in his second-hand yellow Chevrolet Camaro at the bar Sultana had mentioned.
The bar was located at the foot of the Hollywood Hills, an area where Los Angeles celebrities and the wealthy congregated. However, this bar, named Sangiovese, was very low-key.
There was no neon sign, the entrance was deep in a small alley, and there wasn't even a security guard at the door. The bar owner seemed completely uninterested in making money.
Roy hesitated for a long time before pushing open the door, worried he might have gone to the wrong place.
Fortunately, it did look like a bar inside after he opened the door, but there were very few customers, only a handful of people drinking.
"Roy, over here!"
Sultana had been watching the entrance and waved him over as soon as she saw him.
"Sultana, no wonder you seemed distracted when we were chatting earlier, you were meeting a handsome young man!"
A woman with deathly pale skin, wearing a classic white long dress, stood at the bar. She seemed completely captivated by Roy, but Sultana, who was also looking at Roy, didn't notice.
"Archina, don't joke around. We're just agent and informant!"
Sultana was a little embarrassed and used drinking to hide her emotional fluctuations.
Roy walked over to the bar and immediately saw the unusually tall, pale woman. She was really hard to miss.
You see, when Roy first transmigrated, he was 188 cm tall. Over the past few months, he had grown another two centimeters, making him 1.9 meters tall, which was quite tall.
But in front of this pale woman, he seemed rather small.
The pale woman was probably close to three meters tall. If she stood straight, her head would touch the ceiling. This height would make her a giant even in the NBA.
This was clearly not a normal human height; even gigantism rarely reached this level.
Moreover, people with gigantism have certain physical characteristics, none of which were visible on the pale woman.
And this person's appearance was really familiar, but Roy wasn't entirely sure yet.
"Sister Sultana, I'm here! And this is?"
"Archina Dimitrescu, she's the owner of this bar. Archina, this is Roy Black."
"Hello, Ms. Dimitrescu, it's an honor to meet you!"
Hearing this name, Roy already knew who the other person was, but his expression didn't change. He still reached out and shook hands with Archina.
[Discovered special character Archina Dimitrescu, you can absorb the power of fate to obtain rewards!]
Archina Dimitrescu, a popular character from Resident Evil Village, often referred to as Lady Dimitrescu or the Countess on Eastern online forums.
Roy had no idea how this person had ended up in this world.
"The honor is all mine, Mr. Black."
Archina's hand was very cold, without any body temperature, like a corpse. From this, it was clear she wasn't a normal human being.
However, as Roy withdrew his hand, he felt Archina lightly scratch his palm, as if hinting at something.
"Roy, Archina is also one of my informants. If you ever have any trouble in Los Angeles in the future, you can look for her. She has some influence in the underworld."
As soon as Sultana finished speaking, Archina immediately chimed in.
"Yes, Mr. Black, if you have time, you can come find me anytime. This is my personal contact information."
Archina handed Roy a black business card.
Perhaps Archina's enthusiasm was too much, making Sultana a little wary.
"Archina, I need to talk to Roy alone. Can you get us some good drinks?"
Archina winked and readily agreed.
"Of course, no problem!"
The giant woman walked aside to mix drinks for Roy and Sultana, leaving only Roy and Sultana at the bar.
"Archina is actually a vampire."
Sultana leaned close to Roy's ear and revealed Archina's identity.
"I could tell. Normal people don't have such pale skin and ice-cold body temperature."
Since demons were real, the existence of vampires or werewolves wasn't surprising.
"She immigrated here from Eastern Europe. The bureau reached an agreement with her, allowing her to open a bar here, but she also has to provide the bureau with intelligence about the vampire world."
So that's what it was all about. But Sultana's connections were quite wild too—one informant was a vampire, and the other was a half-demon.
At this moment, Archina came over with two cocktails.
"What secrets are you two whispering about?"
"Hehe, secrets are called secrets for a reason, naturally, they can't be told to others! What kind of cocktail is this?"
Sultana took two blood-red cocktails from Archina.
"Bloody Mary, but I've adjusted the recipe, the taste is a bit different from others. You can try it."
With that, Archina turned and left, not wanting to disturb Roy and Sultana.
Bloody Mary was quite a famous cocktail. Roy was curious what a Bloody Mary made by a vampire would taste like.
"Roy, let's toast!"
"Okay!"
Roy and Sultana clinked their glasses and then finished the Bloody Mary in their small glasses in one gulp.
The first sensation upon entering the mouth was an intense burning feeling. The liquid felt like fire, burning from the throat down to the esophagus and then to the stomach.
This was followed by a strong taste of blood, as if drinking real blood plasma.
A normal Bloody Mary doesn't taste like this; only the color resembles blood plasma. The taste is actually more like spicy, sour, salty, and fresh tomato juice.
But the Bloody Mary mixed by Archina not only looked like blood, but also tasted very much like it.
However, Roy was certain that there was no real blood added to this drink. He didn't know how Archina had managed it.
After drinking the strong cocktail, Sultana's face quickly turned red.
"Roy, I've already heard from Gerald. Thank you for this time!"
Sultana had indeed received some news and knew she was about to be reinstated.
"It's nothing, Sister Sultana, you've been so good to me, of course, I want to repay you!"
Roy believed that if Sultana had reported his demonic nature, she definitely wouldn't have been suspended.
Although Roy said that, a clear expression of emotion still appeared on Sultana's face, and she couldn't help but lean her head on Roy's shoulder.
"Roy, if only you were ten years older."
It seemed that under the combined influence of emotions and alcohol, Sultana was already feeling the urge to marry Roy.
However, this big sister was still not as open as the other big sister, Ilena, who hadn't considered Roy's age at all.
"If I were ten years older, I wouldn't be able to call you sister anymore!"
This made Sultana laugh again and playfully hit Roy's chest.
"Do you really want to call me sister that much?"
"Of course, because I grew up in a single-parent family and always longed for a gentle and beautiful older sister to take care of me!"
This was naturally a lie, and Sultana knew it very well.
"So you ended up taking your sister to bed?"
Regarding this point, Roy had to clarify.
"Wait a minute, you were the one who made the first move! How could a strong young man like me resist such temptation... Mmph!"
Sultana quickly covered Roy's mouth, stopping him from continuing.
"Don't say it!"
His big sister was still so easily embarrassed, it was really too cute, making him want to tease her.
As the alcohol gradually took effect, Sultana started to loosen up and no longer refused Roy's jokes.
The two chatted more and more enthusiastically, and later Archina also joined the conversation, along with her three young daughters.
These three were not Archina's real daughters. As a vampire, Archina was infertile.
Vampire lineages often referred to each other as parents and children. Archina and her daughters should have had this kind of relationship.
However, these three daughters looked very alike, like triplets. Could it be that they were actually three sisters who had been turned by Archina?
Happy times always fly by. It was almost midnight, and Sultana was already a bit delirious. Roy had also drunk a lot, and his head was spinning.
There was no way around it. Archina and her three daughters kept finding excuses to send Roy drinks. He was essentially facing a 1 vs 5 situation, and even with a physique of 46, he couldn't quite handle it.
"Sister Sultana, it's getting late. Should I take you home?"
Sultana's face was as red as a Fuji apple, delicate and beautiful beyond compare, making Roy's index finger twitch.
"Are you trying to do something naughty again?"
Sultana looked at Roy with hazy eyes.
"How could I? I've always been one to never take advantage of someone's vulnerability. I simply want to take Sister Sultana home!"
Roy looked completely righteous, almost as if he was about to swear on a bible.
Sultana rolled her eyes at him with great charm, then took out a stack of bills and placed them on the bar before turning and swaying towards the bar door.
"I don't believe you!"
Roy said goodbye to Archina and followed Sultana out.
Both of them were walking somewhat unsteadily, needing to support each other.
In this state, driving was obviously out of the question, so Roy was about to call a taxi.
But what Roy didn't expect was that when he walked out of the alley, he saw someone doing something to his Chevrolet Camaro.
It looked like they were trying to pick the lock?
The car thief was clearly a black man, naturally camouflaged in the night. If he hadn't been wearing a white vest, Roy wouldn't have seen him at all.
Roy's second-hand yellow Chevrolet Camaro, after a major overhaul, was as good as new, making it a target for car thieves.
"Damn it, what are you doing!"
Roy was furious. The Chevrolet Camaro was his beloved vehicle, and someone was trying to steal it.
Without hesitation, Roy immediately rushed towards his car. The car thief, hearing the noise, took off running.
"Roy, be careful!"
Losing Roy's support, Sultana immediately lost her balance and could only lean against the wall.
Roy turned and threw the car keys to Sultana.
"Sister Sultana, wait for me in the car, I'll be right back!"
With the alcohol taking effect, Roy's emotions were clearly a bit unstable. He only wanted to catch this car thief and teach him a good lesson.
However, because he was a bit drunk, Roy's running speed was rather poor, and he was running crookedly, unable to run in a straight line.
Fortunately, his agility of 31 still allowed Roy to keep up with the black car thief.
The black car thief, seeing this situation, became very scared and quickened his pace, rushing into the subway station.
It was the last train of the night, and a large group of tired office workers were coming out of the subway station. The crowd was very dense, making it the perfect place to escape.
However, Roy could sense the black car thief's fear, so hiding in the crowd wouldn't help him.
Helplessly, the black car thief could only force his way through the ticket gate. The subway staff didn't have time to stop him, and the black car thief rushed through.
Roy originally wanted to imitate the black car thief, but by this time, the subway staff was prepared and directly stopped him.
Helplessly, Roy could only take out a $100 bill from his inventory and hand it to the subway staff.
"Here! This is my ticket!"
With that, Roy continued to chase after the black car thief.
Just at this moment, the last subway train happened to be stopped at the platform. The black car thief quickly rushed onto the train.
Looking back outside, the black car thief finally breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he could rest for a bit.
However, before the black car thief could catch his breath, he saw Roy get on the subway at the last possible moment, although not in the same car as him.
The main reason was that Roy was afraid the subway would leave, so he directly got on the nearest car.
As it turned out, this choice was correct. If he had been even two or three seconds slower, Roy might not have been able to get on the train.
"Fuck!"
The black car thief cursed and then ran towards the front of the train.
It was the last subway train, and there were hardly any passengers in the cars. Roy swayed as he walked towards the sensed emotion of fear.
Roy was getting closer and closer, and the next stop wouldn't arrive for a while. The black car thief gritted his teeth and pulled out a folding knife, preparing to fight Roy.
"You, you stay back!"
Finally, Roy appeared in the last car. After chasing him for several kilometers, Roy wasn't even panting, making the black car thief realize that his pursuer was a tough guy. But at this moment, he could only frantically wave the folding knife, trying to intimidate Roy.
If this guy knew Roy's combat power, he probably would have regretted trying to steal Roy's car.
"Kid, you can really run! Keep running!"
"Don't force me! Or I don't know what I'll do!"
Roy cracked his knuckles and walked towards the black car thief, a sinister smile on his face.
"I'd like to see what you can do!"
Just at this moment, the lights in the car suddenly went out.
Archina Dimitrescu
Chapter 129: Midnight Cannibal Train
The sudden darkness startled both Roy and the black car thief.
However, the lights came back on in the blink of an eye, which Roy found a bit strange.
Could it be that the electricity was a little unstable?
Just as he was wondering, Roy noticed the black car thief's gaze was odd, his eyes fixed straight behind him.
Was it a trap?
Roy didn't turn around immediately.
"What are you looking at?"
The black car thief opened his mouth and pointed behind Roy. Could there really be something there?
Just as he was thinking this, Roy heard the sound of a blunt object cutting through the air.
Because he was drunk, Roy's reaction was a beat slower. He tilted his head slightly, barely managing to protect the back of his head, but he still couldn't avoid being hit on the shoulder by the blunt object.
Thump!
The sound of a blunt object striking flesh!
The heavy blow didn't knock Roy to the ground; it only made his body sway a little.
Immediately after, a second attack was about to land, but the attacker's hand was already grabbed by someone else.
[Discovered special character Mahogany. You can absorb the power of fate to obtain rewards!]
Another special character?
Roy squinted his drunken eyes and sized up the attacker. It was a tall man with a face full of tough-looking flesh and a buzz cut.
He was wearing a well-fitting suit, but the clothes didn't quite match his aura. He had a murderous air about him, more like a mercenary or a butcher.
"Trying to sneak attack me?"
The man in the suit tried his best to break free from Roy's grip, but he felt like his arm was caught in a hydraulic clamp and couldn't escape.
Since one hand was stuck, the man in the suit had no choice but to attack Roy with his other hand, but his intentions were too obvious and Roy easily caught it.
Then, Roy simply kicked the man in the suit in the stomach, sending him flying.
The man in the suit finally crashed into the connecting door between the train cars.
At this point, Roy noticed that the car behind them was covered in blood, and some of the blood had even seeped into the car Roy was in.
Had this guy been killing his way through the other cars?
Los Angeles was really too chaotic. You couldn't even take the subway without running into something like this!
Roy moved his shoulder around. The hammer blow from the man in the suit had made his shoulder a little sore, but it wasn't too bad and wouldn't affect his movement.
"Just who the hell are you?"
The man in the suit quickly struggled to his feet. His face still showed no emotion, and he didn't say anything. He just tightened his grip on the hammer and charged at Roy.
This guy's constitution is something else!
Roy's kick just now had been a bit forceful because he was angry. An ordinary person would probably have been knocked out by the pain, but the man in the suit was able to quickly recover his fighting ability.
This physique, this willpower, it definitely wasn't something a normal person possessed!
Roy became alert. Facing the man in the suit with the metal hammer, he dodged the attack with a V-shaped sway, and then landed a heavy punch on his stomach.
Roy put all his strength into this punch. An ordinary person might have been killed instantly by it.
But the man in the suit still withstood the blow, although the intense pain in his abdomen caused him to lose his grip on the hammer and fall to his knees in agony.
"You damn well talk!"
Roy grabbed the man in the suit's ear. He had originally wanted to grab his hair, but the guy had a buzz cut, so he had nothing to hold onto. He had no choice but to settle for his ear.
The man in the suit still didn't speak, and Roy became even angrier.
While pinching the man in the suit's ear, Roy landed punch after punch on his stomach.
"I'll make you play dumb! I'll make you play dumb!"
The man in the suit was in great pain and finally had to open his mouth to show Roy.
This guy didn't have a tongue! No wonder he hadn't been saying anything, not even a shout.
Roy had really thought this guy was a tough customer.
"Fuck, he doesn't have a tongue!"
Just as he was speechless, the door to the subway driver's compartment at the front of the train suddenly opened. It seemed like the subway driver had heard the commotion and come out to check.
As a result, this subway driver suddenly pulled out a handgun and aimed it at Roy.
Roy was indeed a bit drunk tonight. At his normal level, if someone pulled a gun, he would definitely teach them a lesson with a faster draw.
But because alcohol had dulled his senses, Roy's reaction was a beat slower.
By the time the subway driver pulled out the gun and aimed, it was clearly too late to draw his own weapon. Roy had no choice but to protect his vital areas and dodge.
Bang!
The bullet hit Roy in the chest, and he fell backward.
After falling, Roy surprisingly discovered that there was someone hidden under the seat, someone he had only met recently.
Daria O'Connell, that mature, single mother!
This woman was probably originally in this train car and had been frightened by the suddenly barging-in black car thief, then hid under the seat.
Daria was shocked when she saw Roy's face. Roy quickly made a quiet gesture, telling her that he was okay.
On the other side, the black car thief looked a bit bewildered after seeing the subway driver shoot Roy.
"Hey, you got the wrong guy! The one in the suit is the bad guy!"
Although this black car thief had been chased by Roy all the way here and wanted to teach him a lesson, he also knew clearly that Roy would at most give him a beating, but the man in the suit with the hammer was trying to kill people.
The subway driver used the butt of his gun to smash the black car thief in the face, knocking him to the ground as well.
"Fuck! What the hell are you doing, you idiot!"
The black car thief wasn't knocked unconscious and immediately started cursing after falling to the ground.
The subway driver pointed the gun at the black car thief with a blank expression. This time, the black car thief finally understood what was going on.
"Wait, you're with that guy in the suit? No, don't kill me!"
Bang!
The subway driver showed no mercy and shot the black car thief dead.
This situation made Daria, who was hiding under the seat, even more terrified. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and she seemed to be on the verge of losing control of her emotions.
The subway driver coldly looked at the man in the suit, who was struggling to stand up.
"Mahogany, your performance today is truly disappointing!"
Mahogany felt very wronged. If he could speak, he would definitely curse the subway driver and tell him to try fighting Roy himself.
The subway driver was just taking advantage of Mahogany's inability to speak and argue back.
"Hurry up and clean up. We don't have much time left!"
With that, the subway driver put away his gun and prepared to return to the driver's compartment.
Just at this moment, Roy suddenly stood up, holding his Smith & Wesson M629 ivory-gripped revolver and pulling the trigger.
Bang!
The .44 Magnum bullet instantly blasted a large hole in the subway driver's back. He fell to the ground without even making a sound.
Mahogany realized something was wrong and immediately grabbed the dropped hammer, wanting to attack Roy. Unfortunately, he was too slow and Roy saw through his move again, kicking his knee and making him kneel on the ground once more.
"Since you can't speak, then you have no value!"
With that, Roy pressed the M629 ivory-gripped revolver against Mahogany's head, preparing to claim the fate treasure chest of this guy.
Mahogany, kneeling on the ground, suddenly ripped open his suit and the shirt underneath, revealing his chest.
This guy's chest was covered in a large number of disgusting fleshy tumors, but that wasn't the most surprising thing to Roy. What surprised him most was that Mahogany had a brand on his stomach similar to the one on Roy, only the pattern of the brand was different.
"Beelzebub?"
The knowledge in the Key of Solomon told Roy the meaning of this symbol. (See illustration)
The Seven Deadly Sins, each Demon Lord has their own mark. The brand on Roy was actually the mark of Belial, while the brand on Mahogany came from Beelzebub.
Having this kind of mark meant you were a follower of a certain Demon Lord and could borrow the power associated with that Demon Lord.
For example, Belial's abilities were mainly related to illusions, but Roy rarely used Belial's power.
Because the more power you borrowed, the deeper your connection with the Demon Lord became, and in the end, you would be completely controlled by the Demon Lord and become their slave.
This wasn't the first time Roy had seen a follower of the Lord of Gluttony. In the Southern Demon incident, that Kevin was also a follower of the Lord of the Flies and could directly transform into a fly demon.
However, there was a gap between followers, just like between Roy and Mahogany.
"You still dare to take off your clothes! Don't you know that's disgusting?"
Roy kicked out again, sending Mahogany flying.
If this guy was a follower of Beelzebub, then the subway driver should be too, and that guy's status seemed to be even higher than Mahogany's.
Such an existence couldn't possibly be killed with a single .44 Magnum bullet. This guy was definitely playing dead.
"Get up, I know you're not dead!"
Hearing this, the subway driver, who was playing dead, finally stood up. The large hole in his back from the .44 Magnum bullet was rapidly healing, the wriggling flesh looking particularly disgusting.
"Discovered, huh? Looks like you're not an ordinary person either. No wonder Mahogany couldn't beat you."
The subway driver looked coldly at Mahogany, who was struggling to crawl towards him on the ground. There was no hint of camaraderie in his eyes.
"What exactly is the purpose of you guys!"
Clearly, the subway driver and this Mahogany were organized.
This reminded Roy of the urban legend about the midnight subway that Pastor Max had mentioned in the "Night Owl" program he had seen recently. It seemed to be referring to this very situation.
According to the legend of the midnight subway, Mahogany and the subway driver's actions should have been going on for quite some time, yet there was no related news in society. There must be a huge organization helping them cover everything up.
Killing these two wasn't actually that difficult; the trouble was the organization hidden behind them.
The subway driver gave a cold smile.
"You'll find out soon enough!"
With that, the guy suddenly turned around and pulled down the emergency brake lever.
"What are you trying to do!"
Roy didn't hesitate to pull the trigger, putting several more bullet holes in the subway driver's body, but the other man's movements didn't stop at all.
The high-speed subway entered emergency braking, and the sudden change caused Roy to lose his balance and almost fall to the ground.
Fortunately, there was a handrail nearby that Roy grabbed onto, which prevented him from falling awkwardly.
After the subway came to a complete stop, Roy discovered that the subway driver and Mahogany had somehow smashed the windows and jumped out.
Through the window, he could see the two of them on all fours, running away quickly into the distance like animals.
They just ran off like that?
Roy had originally thought the subway driver was going to do something big, but it turned out to be just a big nothing.
Scratching his head, Roy pulled Daria out from under the seat. The black car thief's corpse made her emotions a bit out of control.
"Oh no! Why did this happen?"
Roy comforted Daria. If this woman saw the even more bloody corpses in the cars behind them, he wondered if she would pass out directly.
"Ms. O'Connell, take a deep breath. At least you're still alive, and you can still go home and see your daughter, can't you?"
Daria took several deep breaths and finally calmed down a bit.
"Thank you, Mr. Black. You saved me again!"
"Ms. O'Connell, were you also taking the last train home after finishing your late shift tonight?"
Daria nodded silently.
It had only been a week, and she had already encountered trouble twice after finishing her night shift. Her luck was really something.
"Ms. O'Connell, with all due respect, you'd better not take this night shift anymore. Otherwise, you might never see your daughter again."
Daria was certainly aware of this.
"But I need this job! I'm fighting my ex-husband for custody of my daughter. If I don't have a job, I won't be able to afford rent, and I won't be able to get custody of my daughter! I'm already almost unable to pay next month's rent!"
As she spoke, Daria covered her face and began to cry in despair.
The breakdown of an adult often happens in just this instant.
In a cosmopolitan city like Los Angeles, the cost of living for one person is already high, let alone raising a child.
Actually, there are some places in Los Angeles where the rent is relatively low, but those places are usually black or Hispanic communities. A single mother like Daria with a daughter definitely couldn't live in that kind of environment.
No wonder at the beginning of "Dark Water," Daria was renting a house with her daughter.
In America, a prerequisite for many jobs is that you must have a stable address, which means having a rental agreement.
If you don't have a stable address, don't even think about finding a normal job. Even McDonald's won't hire you; you can only work illegally.
Then you might ask, what do you do if you don't have money to rent a place?
That's not a question that should be asked in a capitalist society.
Roy hugged Daria.
"There will always be a way, Ms. O'Connell."
After crying for a few minutes, Daria's emotions gradually stabilized. She wiped her tears and pushed Roy away a little embarrassedly.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Black. I've been under a lot of pressure lately."
"It's okay, I don't mind being a beautiful woman's emotional trash can at all."
Hearing this, Daria chuckled.
"Don't talk nonsense, Mr. Black. You're still so young, and I'm already a 27-year-old single mother."
Only 27? She got married pretty early then!
Just as Roy was about to say something more, he heard some strange noises coming from the tunnel.
Clockwise: Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth.
Chapter 130: The Taste of Big Sister
It sounded a bit like a large group of creatures running, and I could faintly hear some strange roars.
There seemed to be quite a few of them!
Dahlia didn't have such good hearing, so she hadn't heard anything and was a little confused by the sudden change in Roy's expression.
"What's wrong, Mr. Black?"
"Ms. O'Connor, we're in trouble, let's go!"
Grabbing Dahlia's hand, Roy kicked open the train car door and jumped out.
In the distance, the sound of the creatures was getting closer and closer, and now even Dahlia could faintly hear it.
"W-what are those things?"
"They're definitely not anything good!"
As he spoke, Roy picked up Dahlia and put her on his back, which startled her.
"Ms. O'Connor, don't make a sound. I can run faster with you on my back!"
Dahlia had already realized the seriousness of the situation and quickly covered her mouth. Then, she felt Roy's strong build.
As an otherworld counterpart of Jennifer Connelly, Dahlia was about the same height as Heather, both around 1.75 meters tall. They were also both the voluptuous type of beauty, weighing over 100 jin (approximately 110 pounds).
But Dahlia found that even with her on his back, Roy was still running like the wind, as fast as a 100-meter sprinter.
However, being carried by someone running at high speed wasn't comfortable. Dahlia quickly felt some discomfort in her stomach, and to distract herself, she could only look in other directions.
Just then, Dahlia used the subway light to clearly see what was chasing them.
It was some kind of distorted combination of hyena and human, with severely disproportionate limbs and unnaturally bent joints. Their running and climbing speed was terrifying, even seemingly faster than Roy, who was currently carrying someone.
Their heads had a canine outline, with mouths that stretched back to their ears, filled with serrated fangs. As they ran at high speed, disgusting mucus kept flying out of their mouths.
Dahlia had never seen such terrifying creatures before. At that moment, she felt like her heart was stopping.
"M-Mr. Black, b-behind us..."
"I've already seen them!"
Roy began to adjust his breathing rhythm. With the intense exercise, the alcohol in his body was rapidly breaking down and being expelled through sweat.
(To put it simply, he was sobering up quickly.)
This allowed Roy's balance and reaction speed to begin to recover.
"Ms. O'Connor, brace yourself, I'm going to speed up!"
Hearing this, Dahlia was incredibly shocked.
"What? You can still speed up?"
Roy immediately began to accelerate. His speed now exceeded the world record for the 100-meter sprint, and the monsters chasing behind were instantly left far behind.
Caught off guard, Dahlia almost threw out her back. She finally understood just how powerful this young man, Roy, was.
After running at this speed for ten minutes, Roy finally shook off the monsters. It was possible that Roy had run out of their territory.
"Mr. Black, are you very tired? Should you put me down for a bit?"
Looking at Roy, who was panting heavily, Dahlia felt a little embarrassed.
"Hah, not at all! How could I be tired carrying such a beautiful woman as Ms. O'Connor?"
Having run at full speed for ten minutes, Roy was indeed a bit tired, but as long as he didn't continue running, his stamina would quickly recover.
Yeah, that's what a physique of 46 allows you to do.
Actually, Roy had just made a preliminary assessment of the monsters' strength and felt that if he transformed into his Son of the Devil form and used the chainsaw sword, he should be able to take them down.
However, because Dahlia was present, Roy didn't want to scare her, so he chose to run first.
Not all girls are as love-struck as Penny, falling head over heels for Roy after just meeting him.
Being praised for her beauty by Roy, Dahlia felt a little sweet inside.
Having been saved by Roy for the second time, coupled with the physical prowess he had just displayed, Dahlia's feelings of goodwill towards him were rapidly increasing.
"You're kidding me, Mr. Black!"
"Call me Roy. I mean everything I said."
Now, Dahlia couldn't hide the smile on her face anymore, but because Roy was carrying her, he couldn't see her bright smile.
"Then you can call me Dahlia too."
There are emergency exits at intervals in the subway tunnels, which are there to facilitate people's escape in case of emergencies.
Roy quickly found a safety exit and returned to the surface.
At this point, Roy finally put Dahlia down.
"Dahlia, I really think you should quit that job. What if you encounter this kind of danger again next time and I'm not around?"
These words made Dahlia fall silent, and she sighed.
"You're right. It's really too dangerous to go so far to work at night. Maybe I should find a job closer to home."
After tonight's events, Dahlia definitely wouldn't dare to take the subway again, and the subway is the most convenient way for poor people to travel. Taxis in America are incredibly expensive, and working-class people definitely can't afford them.
Looking at Dahlia's helpless expression, Roy couldn't help but speak.
"Dahlia, if you trust me, I can introduce you to a job."
Dahlia shook her head slightly. She definitely trusted him, after all, Roy had saved her life.
However, Dahlia still wanted to rely on herself and didn't want to trouble Roy.
"We'll see! Roy, this seems to be quite close to my home. Would you like to come to my place for a bit?"
Seeing the expectant look in Dahlia's eyes, Roy really wanted to agree, but unfortunately, there was another "big sister" waiting for him.
"Sorry, I actually chased the car thief into the subway station when I was out with a friend. You know, the black guy who was shot by the driver. I have to go back and find my friend."
Hearing this, Dahlia was a little disappointed. She had finally mustered the courage to invite a boy younger than her, only to be rejected.
"You're right. Well, I'll go home then."
Dahlia turned to leave, but Roy reached out and took her hand.
"Let me walk you home."
Holding hands has a special meaning in male-female relationships, and Roy's action was clearly a bit abrupt.
But Dahlia didn't pull her hand back. Instead, her face flushed, and she silently accepted Roy's gesture.
After walking for about five minutes, Roy arrived at the apartment where he had driven Dahlia back the other day. Dahlia was right, it was quite close.
"I'm home. Are you sure you don't want to come up for a bit?"
Roy smiled.
"Not today. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future! My only worry is that next time I want to come in, you won't let me."
This sounded a bit ambiguous, and Roy realized he might have said something wrong after he finished speaking. But Dahlia just blushed a little and playfully punched him in the chest.
"What are you talking about!"
After saying that, Dahlia quickly rushed into the apartment and then covered her flushed face at the corner of the stairs.
Dahlia didn't want to see her daughter looking like this, but she couldn't control her racing heartbeat at all.
Roy watched Dahlia enter the stairwell before leaving. At that moment, he noticed a car parked in the distance, and it seemed like someone inside was observing him.
Who are those people?
Roy walked over, wanting to question the car owner, but as soon as they saw him approaching, they immediately drove away.
With no other option, Roy could only go back to find Sultana.
When Roy rushed back outside Sangiovese, Sultana was already asleep in the passenger seat of the Chevrolet Camaro.
"Hmm? Roy, you're finally back?"
Sultana groggily opened her eyes and was relieved to see that it was Roy getting into the car.
"I'm sorry, Sultana. I ran into some trouble, so I got back so late."
Sultana instantly woke up. She knew Roy's strength, and if even Roy said it was trouble, it definitely wasn't something ordinary.
"Another supernatural event?"
"Let's get you home first. Tell me where you're staying now."
The hotel where Sultana was temporarily staying wasn't actually too far from here, and they arrived in a few minutes.
Entering Sultana's room, Roy took off his shirt, revealing his strong physique.
The light in the car had been too dim, and it was only now that Sultana noticed several tears in his clothes and some bloodstains on his chest.
"Roy, are you hurt?"
Sultana sobered up instantly and quickly went to find a medical kit. Due to the nature of her profession, she always carried medical supplies in her luggage.
However, just as Sultana came to Roy's side with the medical kit, Roy had already used his fingers to dig out the bullet himself.
"It's just a minor flesh wound, nothing to worry about."
When Roy took out the bullet, Sultana glanced at it and still disinfected the wound with alcohol and put on a bandage.
Roy was a bit speechless. This kind of superficial wound would probably heal completely in an hour, but this was Sultana's kindness, and Roy couldn't refuse.
"Tell me, what exactly happened?"
Sultana was one of his own people and also knew about Roy's special abilities, so Roy had nothing to hide. He explained in detail what had happened in the subway, but he left out the part about Dahlia.
Yeah, anyway, Dahlia's presence didn't really affect the events, so it's better not to tell this tsundere big sister.
After listening to Roy's description, Sultana immediately thought of something and quickly went to the table to look for something.
After a while, Sultana walked over to Roy with a stack of newspapers, all local Los Angeles papers.
"Roy, look. These are the newspapers I've been reading these past few days. Almost every day, people have gone missing, and the disappearances are happening right in the subway stations!"
Roy flipped through a few newspapers and, sure enough, there were disappearances every day, with an average of four or five people missing each time.
That's thousands of people over the course of a year!
Although people go missing every day in America, disappearing from the same location, and continuously, is quite outrageous.
Hasn't the Los Angeles Police Department done anything about it?
However, while looking through the newspapers, Roy noticed a familiar name: Keller Evans, a special correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.
Several reports about the subway disappearances were written by Keller. Is that female reporter writing articles again?
Then, Roy remembered something else.
"Sultana, Keller Evans is your friend, right?"
Sultana looked at Roy in surprise.
"How do you know? Did she go looking for you?"
Roy shrugged.
"Yes, Keller once came to find me because of her cousin!"
"That idiot! I warned her not to investigate any further, but I didn't expect her to find her way to you anyway!"
"Hmm—Keller is indeed a bit stubborn in some ways. I wonder how she's doing now?"
Roy remembered that he had made a promise to Keller that when he came to Los Angeles, he would definitely let her treat him properly, but he had forgotten about it after actually arriving.
The main reason was that Roy only considered Keller to be a decent partner and didn't intend to pursue a romantic relationship with her, so he wasn't particularly concerned.
Since he had just remembered, Roy planned to visit her after it got light.
"Keller, Keller, are you perhaps very close to her?"
The "big sister" was slightly jealous, but this also showed that she really cared about Roy.
"Not really. Our worldviews are incompatible. She's just too righteous, an idealist, while I'm a realist. We don't get along."
They might not get along in terms of personality, but physically it's a different story. No one can say what might happen in the future.
Sultana's expression softened slightly, and then her thoughts returned to the disappearance case.
"This case is a bit complicated. If what you said is true, then there must be a mole within the LAPD working for those people! And their rank must not be low, otherwise they wouldn't be able to suppress the case for so long."
Roy had also guessed this, but he didn't want to think about this problem right now.
"Sultana, on such a beautiful night, do we really have to talk about this?"
Sultana looked at Roy, whose eyes were full of suggestive hints, and a smile crept onto her lips.
"If we don't talk about this topic, what else is there to talk about?"
Is she going to play hard to get with me?
Roy smirked and then used a Ghost Step to rush towards Sultana.
Sultana instinctively tried to dodge, but her reaction speed was no match for Roy's.
The poor little rabbit was devoured by the hungry tiger.
"Ah!"
Older women are much softer than young girls. They tend to be more concerned about their partner's feelings and not just their own enjoyment.
However, even though this "big sister" had received professional training and her physical fitness was much stronger than that of an average person, she was still no match for Roy.
"Oh, Roy, I can't take it anymore! Let me go!"
"Hehe, Sultana, do you know you were wrong now? Will you still be jealous in the future?"
"I know I was wrong! I won't be jealous anymore in the future! I'll even help you take care of Keller! Then the three of us can deal with you together!"
"Hiss! Is she starting to talk nonsense?"
