On the "Night Owl" show, the demon was still putting on a big show.
After Max and Drew exchanged profanities about each other's families, they were both pretty heated.
Then the demon continued to spill their secrets in between.
"Hehehe, Max, you might not know this, but Drew often uses your name to pick up chicks at bars, and he always does a hit-and-run after hooking up."
Max's expression changed. This was damaging his reputation!
"You bastard, how could you do that! What about your girlfriend?"
Drew looked a bit embarrassed, but now that they had reached this point, it wasn't about who was right or wrong. He immediately started revealing Max's secrets too.
"You think you're such a good guy? Aren't you the one who's always sleeping around at bars! You fake pastor!"
Hearing this, Max didn't hesitate to start revealing the bad things Drew had done, and Drew retaliated in kind, each trying to expose the other.
Having worked together for so many years, they both had dirt on each other. All sorts of dirty and scandalous things opened the audience's eyes, and the ratings soared.
By the time Sultana drove to the Disney studio lot in Hollywood, the "Night Owl" show's ratings had already reached second place in its time slot.
Even though it was already late at night, the Disney studio lot was still brightly lit.
The film and television industry never has normal working hours. Shooting day and night is very common.
"Roy, should we climb over the wall?"
Looking at the high wall, Sultana looked eager to try, but Roy stopped her.
"Sultana, you should stay outside and be my backup. If there's any trouble, you can call for help."
Roy handed the laptop to Sultana. Sultana frowned slightly, but finally nodded.
"Okay, I'll wait for you outside for half an hour. If you don't come out, I'll contact the FEA and then force my way in."
Roy put on a ghost face mask from his inventory and quickly blended into the shadows. Then he slowly walked towards the Disney studio.
Sultana watched Roy's actions with some surprise. She felt like she still didn't know him well enough.
On the screen of the laptop in her hand, a new situation arose.
Max and Drew weren't satisfied with just revealing each other's secrets, or maybe they had already exposed everything about each other, so they started throwing punches.
In this regard, the much larger Max had a clear advantage. Drew was beaten black and blue, bloody and battered, and collapsed unconscious on the ground.
"Son of a beach! I won!"
Max's face was twisted, and he was unusually excited. This mental state was very abnormal.
The demon laughed heartily, looking at Max with admiration, and spoke with seductive words.
"You did great, Max! But why don't you just kill him?"
Max was stunned for a moment. He did indeed hate Drew's betrayal, but as a normal modern person, he only wanted to beat Drew up to vent his anger, not kill him.
"I... I can't do it!"
"No, you can do it! Weren't you just sneaking glances at this girl? As long as you kill Drew, I'll let this girl go, and then you can have her. Wouldn't that be great?"
Drew's girlfriend, Lan Li, was quite attractive. Although she couldn't compare to beauties like Heather Penny, she was still a solid seven or eight out of ten among ordinary people. Especially after the demon activated its powers, Max saw Lan Li's face as even more beautiful.
Max's expression showed inner turmoil. The demon conjured a paring knife and dropped it in front of him.
"Pick it up, plunge it into Drew's heart, and feel the blood gushing out!"
The sharp paring knife reflected Max's twisted face. He slowly bent down, picked up the knife, and walked towards Drew.
Drew happened to wake up at this moment and saw Max standing in front of him with a paring knife.
"Max, what are you doing! Have you completely lost it?"
Drew's shout startled Max. Max looked at the paring knife in his hand with disbelief. Clearly, picking up the knife hadn't been his own conscious decision, but rather the demon had tempted him.
The demon naturally wouldn't let Max escape its control so easily.
"Look at this guy in front of you. You considered him your good friend and partner, but he used your name to pick up women, secretly embezzled your money, and talked bad about you behind your back! Do you want to keep putting up with this trouble? Kill him and end it all!"
Drew lay on the ground, crawling backward, his face filled with terror.
"No! Max, don't listen to him! He's trying to hurt you! Please!"
Max's eyes gradually turned fierce. The demon had tempted him once again, and he began to approach Drew step by step.
"Drew, this is the end! I don't want to hear your nagging anymore! Let me send you off!"
"No—ah—"
Max suddenly pinned Drew down, and the paring knife repeatedly plunged into Drew's body, splattering him with blood.
Drew struggled at first, but soon went limp.
After killing him, Max abruptly dropped the paring knife, looking at everything in front of him with confusion, unable to believe what had just happened.
The demon looked at Max triumphantly.
"Max, you did great! You're not the same as before!"
Unfortunately, Max probably didn't want this change. He clutched his head in terror, muttering to himself.
"I killed someone! I killed someone! I killed someone!"
"Look at me, Max! Don't be afraid of this change, come to me!"
Max lowered his hands and dazedly walked towards the demon.
"Now, kneel before me, and I will grant you everything you desire!"
Max suddenly knelt on the ground. The demon easily tore off the device that was restraining his hands and reached out to place its hand on Max's head.
In the blink of an eye, Max turned into a man of fire.
"Whoa—"
"Hahaha... I tricked you!"
Lan Li, possessed by the demon, stood up, walked to the camera, and stared into the lens with a pair of dark golden pupils. The image froze there.
Just as the live feed on "Night Owl" was cut off, Roy also found Stage 13.
Because of the ghost face mask, Roy wasn't discovered by anyone.
The door to Stage 13 was closed, with a heavy padlock on it. Roy used his master thief skills to open it and went inside.
This stage was quite large, mainly filled with movie sets of various classic rooms—the kind where one wall of the room is removed to facilitate camera work.
Soon, Roy found the classic villa set where Max and Drew were on the show.
Lan Li, still possessed, was actually sitting here, and Drew, who had been stabbed to death, and Max, who had been burned to death, were also here.
The demon looked at Roy, a hint of surprise in its eyes.
"Huh, only one person came? What a waste of my time!"
Roy raised an eyebrow, understanding the meaning behind the demon's words.
"So you deliberately stayed here, wanting to lure people in to kill them? This is all a trap?"
The demon didn't mind Roy figuring out its plan, probably because it thought Roy couldn't escape and would be killed sooner or later.
"Yes! Someone told me that there's a troublesome organization in Los Angeles that might prevent the Master's arrival. Someone needed to set a trap to weaken their forces, so that's why I'm here! Unfortunately, that person's plan seems to have failed!"
Sure enough, in that case, it was actually a good thing that Gerald wasn't in Los Angeles. Otherwise, if he had used FEAR, encountering this demon might have resulted in heavy losses.
And the number of FEAR agents is limited; they can't be replenished in a short time. If there were too many casualties, it could indeed change the situation.
However, Roy still had a question.
"The person you mentioned, is it Jack Dell?"
The demon looked at Roy with some surprise, seemingly wondering why he knew so much.
"Hehehe, you seem to know quite a bit, but you'll naturally find out the answers to these questions later! Now, kneel before me immediately!"
The demon's voice boomed in Roy's ears like thunder, causing an impulse within him to obey its command.
However, this impulse was quickly negated by his 40 points of Willpower.
After all, even Elizabeth hadn't made Roy kneel, unless she was lying down with her back to him first.
The newest novel is first published here!
Ahem!
Roy stood motionless, looking at the demon, making the demon lose face a bit. It pointed a finger at Roy and continued to issue commands.
"You, why aren't you kneeling! I command you to kneel!"
Roy tilted his head and glanced at the demon with a sideways look.
"Even Belial hasn't made me kneel. What makes you think you can?"
The title of the King of Sloth made the demon pause. This name had a different significance for demons.
However, the demon quickly thought that there was no way a mortal like Roy could have come into contact with the King of Sloth.
So this guy stood up in a fit of anger.
"Damn human, how dare you mock me!"
In anger, this demon directly burst out of Lan Li's body, revealing its true demonic form.
This guy's true form was actually a giant raven with curved, sharp horns on its head, dull charcoal-black feathers, and a beak and claws with a rusty, iron-brown hue.
The two pairs of pitch-black pupils on its bird head revealed a sinister and cunning light.
Roy immediately identified this guy's true identity using the Key of Solomon.
Malphas, the 39th of the Seventy-Two Pillars of Solomon's Demons, who enjoys deceiving and manipulating others and possesses the ability to read minds.
No wonder Max and Drew's secrets were discovered. It was this guy!
Although the name of the Seventy-Two Pillars of Solomon's Demons sounds impressive, they aren't actually as terrifying as one might think. They were just 72 familiars that King Solomon, an ancient demon-warlock, once contracted with.
Most of these familiars were actually functional, and their combat power wasn't necessarily that strong, like this Malphas here.
Of course, they are indeed very powerful relative to ordinary people, but for Roy, there's nothing to be afraid of.
After all, the truly powerful of the Seventy-Two Pillars had already ascended, like Baal, who was ranked first.
After Baal ascended, he had a new name, which was Beelzebub, who is now the King of Gluttony.
As for the remaining demons, they are basically just tool demons with no real potential.
However, Malphas didn't think so. He arrogantly spread his wings, creating a gust of wind.
"Mortal, I command you to kneel before me, or I will show you what true fear is!"
"Ha! You actually dare to talk about fear in front of me! That's hilarious!"
Roy took out the chainsaw sword from his inventory and then quickly entered his Demon Child form, his golden pupils looking at Malphas with boundless coldness.
"Scumbag, look me in the eyes! How dare you talk to me like that!"
The terrifying aura emanating from Roy in his Demon Child form made Malphas's body tremble involuntarily.
"Wait, you're the Son of a Demon? It's a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding!"
Malphas could sense Roy's power just from his aura, so this guy immediately chickened out.
The Key of Solomon recorded that Malphas liked to deceive and manipulate people, wasn't that because his direct combat ability was relatively weak?
Now that Roy was completely ignoring Malphas's mind control abilities, how could he fight?
Looking at Malphas's initially arrogant but now obsequious attitude, Roy let out a cold laugh.
"That's not what you were saying just now!"
"Misunderstanding! I can sense the aura of the King of Sloth on you. You must be a member of the King of Sloth's retinue! I used to work for the King of Sloth too, so how about we just pretend nothing happened?"
Malphas's face was full of smiles. It was hard to imagine a giant raven making such a human-like expression.
Roy leaned on his chainsaw greatsword, which was burning with hellfire, and looked at Malphas with a face full of mockery.
"Then tell me now, what's your plan! Tell me, and I'll let you go."
Malphas started sweating. Clearly, revealing the plan might lead to an even worse fate for him.
"It's... it's..."
Malphas suddenly flapped his wings and flew up, preparing to break through the ceiling of Stage 13 to escape.
Roy had already guessed that this cunning guy might choose to escape and quickly took out a Remington M870 from his inventory.
The power of the Demon Child transformed the Remington M870 into a hell shotgun. Then, a flaming skull shot out of the muzzle.
The flaming skull exploded right in Malphas's bird face, blasting him out of the air.
"Ah—"
Malphas let out a piercing scream.
Roy rushed forward in one stride, his finger pulling the switch on the hilt of the hellfire chainsaw greatsword. The built-in motor erupted with a piercing screech, the serrated chain spinning wildly, causing the hellfire to burn even more intensely.
With two simple and brutal strikes, the serrated teeth of the hellfire chainsaw greatsword easily tore through Malphas's wings, preventing him from flying again.
Then, Roy grabbed Malphas by the neck, his golden pupils staring directly into the demon's four black eyes.
"Scumbag, look me in the eyes! Tell me what the hell you guys are planning!"
Fear energy began to affect Malphas's mind through Roy's golden pupils.
Although Shadow of Fear had been upgraded to Fear Domain, it didn't mean Roy couldn't continue to use the abilities of Shadow of Fear.
"No! I can't tell you! Please, I really can't!"
Even demons can be afraid. Malphas was now emitting a large amount of fear, clearly terrified to the extreme.
It was unclear whether this guy was afraid of Roy or the mysterious "Master."
"Scumbag, last chance! Don't test my patience!"
Roy held the chainsaw sword horizontally in front of Malphas's beak.
"Marbas, save me!"
Malphas's sigil
Chapter 150: Marbas
Roy suddenly felt the shadow of death looming over him. He immediately spun around, using Mapa's body as a shield.
It was the right call. A huge mouth clamped down on half of Mapa's body, tearing it apart. To make sure his hard-earned head didn't get snatched, Roy didn't hesitate to swing his Hellfire Chainsaw Greatsword and chop off Mapa's head.
[Ding! Obtained Mapa's Fate Box! Open it now?]
Mapa's massive corpse split in two, revealing the attacker's true form to Roy.
Standing not far away was a magnificent and imposing lion, as big as an Asian elephant. It had sharp, spear-like horns growing from its head, a mane as red as burning coals, and claws and teeth as sharp as steel blades.
The horned lion's eyes glowed with an eerie green light, radiating a terrifying aura.
The Key of Solomon reacted again, allowing Roy to recognize the crimson lion before him.
Marbas, the 5th of the 72 Pillars of Solomon!
This guy was on a whole different level compared to that trash Mapa, who was number 39. In fact, the top ten demons of the 72 Pillars were all incredibly powerful.
Still, Roy was a little confused about where this guy had been hiding.
He glanced around. The only human corpse left on the ground was Drew, who had been stabbed to death. Could Marbas have been hiding inside Max's burnt-up body the whole time?
What a sneaky bastard!
Marbas crunched and chewed on the Mapa in his mouth, his eerie green eyes glaring fiercely at Roy.
This guy was a fast eater. He swallowed half of Mapa in just a few minutes.
"Is the King of Sloth going to interfere in this matter?"
Flames as red as blood erupted from Marbas's mane, his voice booming like thunder, filled with immense pressure.
"This has nothing to do with Belial. Is there a problem with me wanting to handle this myself?"
Marbas's gaze shifted. He knew that a demon's name held power, so directly calling out a Demon Lord's name would cause a reaction.
That's why most demons only directly addressed a Demon Lord by name when asking for help or offering praise. At other times, they used titles of respect.
To be able to directly call out a Demon Lord's name without anything happening could only mean that the speaker had an unusual relationship with that Demon Lord.
This made Marbas a little suspicious, and the imposing aura around him lessened slightly.
"My master has always kept to himself and never interfered with the King of Sloth. How about we just call it even here? I'll act like nothing happened."
Roy could sense the subtle fear emanating from Marbas's body. This guy was a little scared!
Licking his lips, there was no way Roy was going to let Marbas off the hook so easily. A demon with a name like that probably had a really valuable Fate Box, right?
After entering his Demon Child state, Roy's emotions would be somewhat affected, becoming more extreme.
If his Willpower stat wasn't high enough, he might even lose his mind like he did during the wax museum incident.
Luckily, his Willpower was now his second-highest stat after Constitution, which basically allowed him to stay rational in his Demon Child form.
But his behavior becoming a bit more extreme was still normal.
Rolling his eyes, Roy quickly came up with a line to deal with Marbas.
"Then tell me your plan. If there's something good in it for me, I might want in."
Marbas naturally wouldn't easily believe Roy's words, but his tone had softened a lot.
"You know that's impossible! My master won't allow any unexpected events to happen to this plan. If you don't want to face my master's wrath, then you should leave Los Angeles as soon as possible!"
Judging by this, Marbas and Jack's master were planning to go after the entire city of Los Angeles. Were they really playing on such a massive scale?
"You've gotta at least tell me who your master is, right? Otherwise, how am I supposed to explain this when I get back?"
Marbas looked deeply at Roy for a moment, then softly uttered a title of respect.
"The King of Greed."
So it was Mammon, not Beelzebub?
Okay, there were definitely some details that indicated the power behind Jack Deal wasn't the same as the mysterious cult behind the Midnight Cannibal Train. But Roy still hadn't expected that little old Los Angeles would have attracted the attention of both Beelzebub and Mammon.
Ugh, I'm tired of this. Maybe I should just burn this whole damn place down!
"In that case, I'll be going then."
Roy slung the Hellfire Chainsaw Greatsword over his shoulder and turned to walk towards the door. However, he didn't revert out of his Demon Child form, and at the same time, he silently counted to three.
One, two, three!
He whipped around, raised his Hellfire Shotgun, and pulled the trigger. Just at that moment, Marbas also opened his huge mouth and lunged forward.
It turned out that neither Roy nor Marbas had any intention of letting the other go. All the words and actions just now were to lower the other's guard.
Marbas's face turned green. The flaming skull exploded right inside his vulnerable mouth, causing him so much pain that tears streamed down his face.
"Awooo—!"
Roy quickly closed the distance, flipped the switch on his chainsaw greatsword, and the serrated chain started spinning wildly again, the hellfire blazing like a giant torch.
"What are you howling about?! Just die already!"
Marbas's strength was indeed much greater than Mapa's. Even with such a severe injury to his mouth, a vulnerable spot, he still had the strength to fight.
Unlike Mapa, who could only be slaughtered after Roy shot him down.
This guy's massive body had surprisingly high agility. He jumped backward, dodging the downward slash of the chainsaw sword.
But Roy had already reloaded the Hellfire Shotgun with one hand. He raised the muzzle again, aimed at Marbas, and pulled the trigger.
Marbas's expression changed drastically!
The power of the Hellfire Shotgun was considerable. It was infused with Roy's fear energy, and even demons found it difficult to resist such damage.
That last shot had already seriously injured Marbas. If he took another one point-blank…
The problem was that Marbas was just too big. Even with high agility, dodging melee weapons might be possible, but trying to dodge bullets was just wishful thinking.
Bang!
The flaming skull had already left the barrel. Marbas didn't have time to think. All he could do was open his mouth and spew out a stream of crimson flames, colliding with Roy's flaming skull.
Boom!
The flaming skull and the crimson flames collided in mid-air, causing a huge explosion. The shockwave from the blast sent everything around them flying.
The noise was so loud that probably half of Hollywood could hear it.
This had to be quick, or things could get really out of hand!
Taking advantage of the smoke from the explosion, Roy reverted out of his Demon Child form and then shifted into his Angelic Blood form.
To deal with a demon, an angel was still the more reliable option.
The smoke cleared, and Roy suddenly froze. It turned out that Marbas on the other side had also changed form, transforming into a humanoid demon over three meters tall with the head of a lion.
His body was covered in metal armor, and his arms were huge metal gauntlets. He looked incredibly punk rock.
Roy: ???
Marbas: ???
Had he entered a second phase?
Marbas transforming was actually quite normal. The 72 Pillars of Solomon all had two forms, and they could switch between human and demonic forms.
But Marbas had completely not expected that the Demon Child he had just faced would turn into an angel.
This was too outrageous. It completely went against everything Marbas had known in his thousands of years as a demon.
For a moment, the atmosphere inside Stage 13 became somewhat silent.
However, Roy still took action first. After all, his Justice Points were limited. Even though he had just replenished a lot by killing Mapa, it still wouldn't be enough to support him in a prolonged fight.
"Prepare to die!"
Roy flew into the air, and with a flick of his wrists, he conjured a spear of holy light and hurled it at Marbas.
There was no way Marbas would dare to take a holy light spear head-on. The power of Heaven naturally countered Hell, even if he was wearing thick metal armor.
Fortunately, after changing into his humanoid form, Marbas's reaction speed had increased significantly. He dodged several of Roy's holy light spear attacks in a row.
This wasn't going to work. He had to control the opponent's movements!
In that case, he had no choice but to use that move.
Fear Domain, expand!
Marbas had actually been preparing to counterattack Roy, but after Roy transformed into his Angelic Blood form, he could fly in the air and was very agile.
But in reality, Roy's flying height was also limited by the ceiling of Stage 13. Marbas could still potentially hit Roy if he jumped high enough.
The main reason he hadn't counterattacked earlier was because it was difficult to change direction while jumping in the air.
Now that Roy had suddenly stopped in mid-air, Marbas thought his chance to counterattack had arrived. So, he immediately launched himself forward, his two exaggerated metal gauntlets starting to vibrate violently, even causing the air to distort.
It was also at this moment that Marbas suddenly noticed Roy's originally silver eyes had turned gray, and then an indescribable terror appeared before his eyes.
In Marbas's vision, Roy had suddenly transformed into an archangel with twelve pairs of wings of light, holding the Sword of Judgment representing God's authority, with holy light from Heaven shining down upon his head.
So majestic, so holy, so noble!
Almost instantly, Marbas lost the desire to fight. At that moment, all he wanted to do was tear open the ground and burrow back into Hell.
Screw the master's mission!
"Receive the judgment of justice!"
Marbas had also suspected that he was under some kind of illusion, but the scene before him was just too real, including the voices coming from all directions.
But the next moment, Marbas successfully broke free from the Fear Domain. He saw that Roy still only had one pair of wings of light, and there was no Sword of Judgment in his hand. It was actually just the same chainsaw sword from before.
However, Marbas had already missed his best chance to counterattack, and at this moment, the holy light extending from the chainsaw sword was about to strike down.
"No—!"
Marbas used his metal gauntlets to protect his body, but this action couldn't stop the holy light in the slightest. Obvious cracks appeared on his body.
The holy light continued its descent, leaving cracks on the wall behind Marbas as well.
"You... you'll regret this! Lord Mammon will not let you get away with this!"
After uttering his final words, Marbas completely split in two and was then burned to ashes by the white flames of holy light.
[Ding! Obtained Marbas's Fate Box! Open it now?]
Roy let out a sigh of relief and landed, reverting out of his Angelic Blood form.
This battle might have looked like he didn't take much damage, but it was no easier than the fight with the Slender Man.
Just now, if Marbas's metal gauntlets had hit Roy, with the fragile body of his Angelic Blood form, he would definitely have been severely injured at the very least.
Fortunately, the effect of Fear Domain was even stronger than Roy had anticipated, hard-controlling Marbas for several seconds.
Looking at the chaotic state of Stage 13, Roy took a moment to catch his breath.
Just as he was about to pull out his phone to contact Saltana outside, the door to the soundstage was suddenly kicked open.
A squad of fully armed soldiers entered the soundstage and spotted Roy. Their tactical vests had "F.E.A.R." written on them.
It seemed Saltana had notified FEAR for backup in advance. They had arrived at just the right time. If they had come even a few minutes earlier, these guys would have witnessed Roy's secret.
"Roy Black?"
A FEAR officer who looked like a captain was confirming Roy's identity.
Roy had worked with the Los Angeles FEA several times, and many of them recognized him.
"That's me."
After the FEAR captain confirmed his identity, he began to check if the scene was safe. Once he confirmed it was, he notified the agents outside to officially enter.
"Roy, are you alright?!"
Saltana rushed into Stage 13. She knew Roy's injuries hadn't fully healed yet and was very worried about him.
"I'm okay, just a little drained."
This time, the drain was indeed significant. The energy consumption of Fear Domain was greater than Roy had imagined. Fortunately, Roy's range for harvesting fear emotions had also increased a lot.
He could now directly harvest all fear emotions within a few kilometers, and he would soon be able to replenish the consumed fear energy.
It was the Justice Points that were a bit troublesome. Roy's Justice Points had been consistently in deficit these past few days. Even killing Marbas wasn't enough to make up for the consumption.
Sigh, if only another evil organization like the Dark Web would show up for Roy to go on a killing spree.
The people in the Dark Web had low combat power, but each one was utterly wicked, with a level of sinfulness greater than that of ordinary demons. It would be easy to harvest a large amount of Justice Points from them.
Should he ask Keller to check if there were any Dark Web strongholds in California?
Texas had a Dark Web, and Roy didn't believe that a state as wealthy as California wouldn't have one.
Just as he was thinking this, a middle-aged man with an unfriendly expression walked in. Judging by his aura, he seemed to be the person in charge of this operation.
Saltana had been sidelined. Although she was trusted by Gerald, she was still just a regular agent and didn't have the authority to mobilize FEAR units.
So, Big Sister must have contacted someone else, most likely her current superior.
"The fight's over?"
The middle-aged man frowned as he looked around the scene.
Marbas's physical body had been burned to ashes by the holy light. As for Mapa, half of his body had been eaten, and his head was gone.
There was also Drew, who had been stabbed to death by Max, lying on the ground.
A subordinate answered the middle-aged man, "Yes, Director Kaufman!"
"Then what are you waiting for? Seal off the area, take back anything valuable, and then let's pack it up! Fuck, they had to call me out in the middle of the night!"
This operation stunned both Roy and Saltana. Were they not even going to pretend?
"Excuse me, sir, please wait a moment!"
Roy directly stopped FEAR's actions, which made the middle-aged man very unhappy.
"Are you trying to obstruct official business?"
Roy narrowed his eyes, a dangerous smile appearing on his face.
"Officer, I don't believe I caught your name?"
"Terrence Kaufman, FEA Senior Agent."
Senior Agent was the same rank Saltana had before she was suspended, only slightly lower than the department head. Within the FEA, it was the highest rank a frontline agent could reach.
"Mr. Kaufman, these are all my spoils of war. It wouldn't be very appropriate for you to just take them away, would it?"
Marbas's Symbol
Chapter 151: Goddess of the Moon
Roy didn't really care about Mapa's and Dru's bodies; selling them directly to the FEA to make a buck wouldn't be bad.
But Roy was pretty interested in Marbas's pair of metal arm bracers. The power Marbas just displayed using them to vibrate the air had even made Roy take notice.
He'd finally scored some loot after fighting a monster, so Roy definitely wasn't going to let the FEA take it.
Too bad Terence Kaufman didn't hold back at all and immediately started spouting some official jargon.
"According to Presidential Decree 51, the FEA has the authority to contain and study supernatural phenomena! Your obstruction is an act against the federal government. I advise you to be reasonable."
Roy looked at the smug Terence Kaufman and smirked. This guy was taking him for a pushover and trying to steal the credit, wasn't he?
No wonder the Los Angeles FEA's work efficiency was so low. If senior agents all acted like Terence Kaufman, the people below definitely wouldn't have much motivation to work.
"And what if I'm not reasonable?"
Terence Kaufman's face changed.
"Then I'll just have to ask this gentleman to come down to the station for a little chat!"
The guy's tone was full of threat, which just made Roy chuckle.
Roy looked at Saltana. "Is this guy your superior?"
Saltana shrugged helplessly, a look of exasperation on her face. "Now you see how tough my job is, right? This guy has been on leave for a while and only just got back these past few days, and he's still not quite back in the swing of things."
Now Roy got it!
Even though it seemed like he'd already been through quite a few incidents since coming to Los Angeles, Roy had only been in LA for a little over two weeks, all told. So, not all the agents at the FEA's Los Angeles branch knew him.
There were bound to be some who didn't, and Terence Kaufman was probably one of them.
So, this dude was just dealing with Roy the way he usually did.
Roy's dismissive attitude angered Terence Kaufman.
"You guys, cuff this kid and bring him back to FEA right now! This guy is definitely involved in this incident. I'm going to interrogate him personally!"
However, not a single agent listened to Terence Kaufman's orders. Many of the agents here had been through the succubus incident, so they knew Roy's capabilities and also knew that Roy had a very good relationship with Director Gerald.
"What are you all doing? Hurry up and arrest him!"
One agent couldn't stand it anymore and couldn't help but step forward to offer a reminder. "Sir, things are a bit complicated here. Maybe we should report to Director Olin first before making any decisions?"
"What's the point of having me around if we have to run to Director Olin for everything?!"
Just as an angry Terence Kaufman was about to arrest Roy himself, Roy's phone rang.
Taking out his phone, Roy saw that it was Gerald calling.
"It's your director calling."
Roy answered the phone in front of Terence Kaufman. "Hello, Director Olin?"
"Mr. Black, you've called so many times these past few days, is something urgent?"
"Actually, there is something urgent, but there's something even more urgent than that – I'm about to be arrested by your subordinate, Terence Kaufman."
Roy briefly explained his current situation.
There was silence on the other end of the line. After a moment, Gerald, suppressing his anger, spat out a sentence: "Mr. Black, would you please hand the phone over to Terence Kaufman?"
Roy looked at Terence Kaufman with a smile and handed over the phone.
Terence Kaufman's heart skipped a beat. Based on the reactions of his subordinates just now, combined with Roy's fearless attitude, he had a bad feeling.
Having climbed to this position in the FEA's Los Angeles division, Terence Kaufman couldn't be an idiot. It's just that he had developed a routine and would subconsciously repeat his previous actions without much thought.
Well, didn't he just step on a landmine?
Gritting his teeth, Terence Kaufman took the phone and immediately heard Gerald's roar.
Terence Kaufman hurriedly ran outside to save face, not wanting anyone to see him getting chewed out.
Unfortunately, Roy "accidentally" blocked his escape route, allowing all the agents present to hear Gerald's dressing-down.
It has to be said that Gerald, as expected of a Black man, had a very rhythmic way of scolding people. With a beat, it could be an excellent rap single. Truly a talent.
Terence Kaufman was scolded for a full five minutes in front of everyone. The surrounding agents and FEAR team members were forcibly holding back their laughter, while only Roy and Saltana laughed openly.
After being scolded, Terence Kaufman handed the phone back to Roy.
"Hello, Mr. Olin, are you done?"
"Yes, Mr. Black, let's discuss the specifics when I get back tomorrow. I've already chewed out Terence Kaufman. He'll secure the scene, and I'll give you satisfactory compensation later!"
"There's something I'd like to take with me."
Gerald didn't hesitate and quickly replied, "Then take whatever you want. Consider the rest sold to FEA."
Now that's what cooperation looks like!
Roy was quite satisfied with Gerald's attitude, though he could probably guess from the latter's current good mood that Gerald must have gotten a lot of benefits from the Slender Man's corpse that Roy sold him.
Wouldn't be so easy to talk to otherwise.
"Alright then, Mr. Olin, I trust your promise! Let's meet at the Dolphin Hotel tomorrow!"
"See you tomorrow!"
Gerald quickly hung up the phone.
Roy looked at Terence Kaufman with a smile. "So, what do you say? Still want to take me to FEA for coffee?"
Terence Kaufman's face was ashen. He had completely lost face today, and he figured jokes about him would start spreading around the office tomorrow.
Giving Roy a hateful look, Terence Kaufman could only vent his anger on his subordinates. "What are you all standing around for? Secure the scene immediately! No outsiders are allowed to enter from this point on!"
The FEA agents quickly sprang into action. They didn't want to become the target of Terence Kaufman's displaced anger.
Roy turned around and picked up Marbas's metal arm bracers from a pile of ashes. As soon as they touched Roy's hands, they quickly shrunk to fit his arm size.
What a truly magical pair of arm bracers!
According to the Key of Solomon, Marbas was a demon proficient in mechanics, though demonic mechanics were definitely different from human mechanics.
This pair of arm bracers clearly contained magical power, perhaps weapons forged through a combination of alchemy and enchantment. Roy decided to take them back and study them carefully.
After taking the arm bracers, Roy prepared to leave Stage 13 with Saltana.
"Hold on, Saltana, it's working hours. Where are you going?"
Terence Kaufman glared fiercely at the chocolate big sister, clearly holding a grudge against her too.
Although this was just displaced anger, what he said wasn't wrong. The other agents were working, and Saltana leaving directly was a bit inappropriate.
"Mr. Kaufman, excuse me, I need to escort Mr. Black back to the Dolphin Hotel."
Saltana was already dissatisfied with Terence Kaufman. He hadn't been helpful at all these past few days, and today he treated Roy with such an attitude, so now Saltana didn't want to give him any pleasantries.
This made Terence Kaufman's face even uglier. Just as he was about to curse, Roy cut him off again.
"If there's any problem, you can talk to Mr. Olin. We don't have time to waste here with you."
Just kidding, Saltana was personally brought up by Gerald and was still Gerald's confidante. Terence Kaufman couldn't suppress her just because he had a higher rank.
Terence Kaufman was so angry his eyes were about to pop out. He gritted his teeth, but he couldn't do anything to Roy and Saltana, so he could only watch them leave.
Afterward, this guy glared fiercely at his subordinates. "What are you looking at? Don't you want to go home? Get back to work!"
Saltana didn't take Roy back to the Dolphin Hotel after leaving Warehouse 13, but instead went to an unfamiliar neighborhood.
Roy raised an eyebrow, seemingly thinking of something. "Sister Saltana, why did you bring me here?"
"I moved out of the hotel and am now sharing an apartment with someone. I'm just showing you around."
Roy saw through Saltana's intentions. The chocolate big sister probably wanted to sleep with him again. This woman was just awkward, always saying one thing and meaning another, not at all honest.
Feeling Roy's gaze, Saltana's face turned slightly red, and she couldn't help but pat Roy's arm. "Come on, let's go upstairs!"
There was nothing he could do. Big sister had spoken, so Roy had no choice but to go upstairs. Who asked him to be so helpful?
He usually likes to help beautiful women carry things like bottled water.
But Roy was also a bit curious about who Saltana was sharing with. "Sister Saltana, who are you sharing with?"
"It's Amy. She didn't have a place to stay in Los Angeles, and I happened to be moving, so we hit it off and decided to temporarily share an apartment."
That's a pretty good idea!
Roy and Saltana entered the apartment and saw Amy watching TV in the living room.
"Saltana, you're back! Oh, Roy, what are you doing here?"
Roy looked at Amy with a grin. "Sister Saltana had a need, and I'm here to help her with it!"
Saltana's face flushed red instantly, and she angrily punched Roy's shoulder with her little fist. "Don't talk nonsense! I just finished moving and wanted to show you around."
Amy knew what these two wanted to do as soon as she saw this. She gave Roy and Saltana an ambiguous look. "Should I go out and give you some private space?"
This Amy is pretty perceptive!
"No need! It's late at night, it's too dangerous outside! Besides, Sister Saltana and I won't be done for a while."
"Shut up! Get in here!"
Saltana finally couldn't stand Roy and Amy's teasing and pulled Roy into her bedroom.
Then, Saltana pushed Roy down and looked down at him condescendingly. "You little brother, you really don't listen!"
At this distance, Roy could feel the heat from the chocolate big sister's breath.
"Sister Saltana, I know I was wrong!"
Roy answered Saltana with a cheeky grin.
Saltana snorted coldly.
But the Valkyrie was still a Valkyrie. She always frowned.
The evil dragon was very curious about the Valkyrie's reaction.
This finally made the Valkyrie unable to suppress her anger.
Finally, the sound was so loud that Amy could hear it in the living room.
Amy bit her lip, her cheeks flushed, her mind no longer on the TV.
"These two are really something! So outrageous!"
"Besides, Sister Saltana and I won't be done for a while."
So this was actually true?
"You two, that's enough! The whole building can probably hear you!"
As a result, the door opened with a knock. It turned out that Saltana was in a hurry and hadn't closed the door properly.
So, Amy saw a shocking scene: the Valkyrie was in a terrible state.
"Amy, help me! I'm going to die!"
Even the Valkyrie's voice was a bit hoarse, so she had to send a team-up invitation to Amy.
Amy really wanted to turn around and run, but her legs felt rooted to the spot, completely unresponsive. Her eyes were completely captivated.
Roy looked at Amy and, seeing that things seemed promising, extended his hand in invitation.
Amy closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Evil Dragon VS. Goddess of the Moon!
In another world, Amy had a counterpart named Serena, who was known as the Goddess of the Moon.
The Goddess of the Moon was indeed worthy of the name Goddess of the Moon.
Goddess of the Moon (still from Pearl Harbor)
