"So, after I left, a bunch of fake cops murdered your father and then burned down the motel?"
After listening to Molly's tearful and choked description, Roy frowned deeply.
This operation seemed familiar, didn't it?
Keller looked at Roy.
"It sounds a lot like the style of that dark web organization you mentioned!"
It did indeed sound very similar. If Roy hadn't realized those two cops were fake back then, he probably would have ended up the same way.
"Besides killing and setting fires, what else did they do?"
"I'm not sure. I was hiding in a secret compartment in the surveillance room, so I couldn't see what they were doing, but I think they definitely took something. And I also saw a large number of videotapes in the surveillance room, arranged in chronological order by date!"
This was solid proof. He hadn't expected that Kevin guy to not only be involved in a cannibalistic cult but also have connections to the dark web.
But thinking about it carefully, it actually made a lot of sense.
This guy had been able to operate on the US-Mexico border for so long. If he didn't have some kind of backing, he would have been gunned down by drug dealers a long time ago.
"It should be the people from the dark web. This is their MO. Molly, did you get a good look at their faces?"
Molly nodded through her tears.
This was good news. Maybe they could use this lead to find the mastermind behind the dark web organization.
"I didn't expect this organization to be so brazen! Molly, what are you planning to do now?"
Molly wiped the tears from her face, a look of hatred appearing in her eyes.
"My mother passed away a long time ago. My father raised me all by himself. I must avenge him. I'll do anything for that!"
Molly looked at Roy. After witnessing Roy's fighting ability that day, she had clearly placed her hopes for revenge on him.
Keller had a different opinion.
"Molly, I think we should deal with this evil organization through legal channels, not through violence."
Molly spat on the ground.
"Tch, Texans only believe in an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth!"
That Texas bloodline was really pure.
As she spoke, Molly directly took out a large stack of money from her skirt. They were all crisp, green $100 bills. Roughly counting, there should have been tens of thousands of dollars.
Ordinary Americans actually rarely use $100 bills because most Americans aren't very good at math, and making change is a big problem.
So, the largest denomination bill that most Americans carry is usually a $20.
"Mr. Blake, I took this out of a hidden compartment in the motel. I want to use this money to hire you!"
Roy could see that Molly was desperate, so he pushed the money back.
"Keep this money for yourself. I also have a score to settle with the dark web organization, so I don't need your money to hire me. As long as I can find the location of the dark web, I will naturally settle the score with them."
Molly bowed deeply to Roy.
"Thank you, Mr. Blake!"
Keller next to him opened his mouth, then said helplessly, "Mr. Blake, you shouldn't advocate for this kind of private revenge!"
Roy looked at Keller strangely. This woman was indeed very righteous, but also a bit naive. Her family background must be pretty good.
"Do you have a way to help Molly's father get justice?"
Keller fell silent. In the American judicial system, a body was needed to file a murder case; otherwise, it would always be considered a missing person.
In the current situation, Molly didn't even know where her father's body was. It might have been reduced to ashes along with the motel, which meant there was no way to file a case.
This made Keller feel very uncomfortable. At this moment, she heard Roy's words.
"Sherlock Holmes once said, when the law cannot bring justice to the parties involved, private revenge from that moment on is justified and even noble. If the law cannot give you dignity, then you can only fight for it yourself!"
Keller shook her head helplessly.
"Maybe you're right, but that should always be the last resort!"
The atmosphere in the living room fell silent for a moment, punctuated only by Molly's intermittent sobs.
Suddenly, Jennifer's phone rang, breaking the silence.
That's right, Jennifer was also there, sitting next to Roy, but she hadn't said anything the whole time.
"Excuse me, I'll take this call outside!"
Jennifer walked out of the living room and looked at her phone. She saw that it was a call from Needy's mother, Rebecca. She thought Rebecca was asking her to come home early.
"Hello?"
"Jennifer, Needy has been hospitalized. We won't be home tonight."
"Wait, Aunt Rebecca, why was Needy suddenly hospitalized?"
"The doctors are still examining her. I'm not sure at the moment. It might be an old illness acting up. I'll contact you if there's any news."
The newest and fastest novels are all here!
"Aunt Rebecca, don't hang up yet. Which hospital is Needy in right now?"
After a while, Jennifer returned to the living room with a worried look on her face.
"Roy, Needy has been hospitalized!"
"What did you say? What happened?"
Roy immediately stood up.
"I'm not sure about the specifics. The doctors are examining her now. Roy, should we go to the hospital together?"
Roy looked at Keller and Molly.
Keller knew it was time to say goodbye.
"Mr. Blake, we'll take our leave now. Molly, if you have nowhere to go, why don't you come with me for now?"
Molly was about the same age as Keller's niece, Katy. Molly's tragic experience made Keller feel very sympathetic, so she wanted to take care of her.
As for Molly, although she didn't quite agree with some of Keller's words, she really had nowhere else to go, so she nodded.
After seeing Keller and Molly off, Roy immediately locked the door and drove Jennifer to the hospital where Needy was hospitalized.
"Why did they leave so quickly?"
"Looks like something happened. Look, Roy drove off with Jennifer."
"How boring! I stood in the cold wind for an hour tonight for nothing! Damn it, it looks like it's starting to rain! Carly, I'm leaving too!"
"Wait for me!"
Carly and Peggy also left. Not long after they left, a strange man wearing a leather jacket and carrying a red box stood outside Roy's house, silently observing something.
Needy was actually hospitalized in a church hospital in Waterfall Town. Roy drove Jennifer there in about ten minutes.
There weren't many patients in the hospital. Roy and Jennifer quickly found Arthur and Rebecca anxiously waiting outside the emergency room.
"Uncle Arthur, Aunt Rebecca, what exactly happened? Why was Needy suddenly hospitalized when she was fine?"
Jennifer was also very anxious. In her heart, Needy was no different from her own sister, even better than her own sister.
They had the kind of relationship where they could share their most cherished possessions, something that ordinary sisters couldn't do.
Arthur took off his glasses and wiped them. It was clear that he was very uneasy at the moment, and it seemed like he was worried about something.
Roy patted Arthur on the shoulder.
"Arthur, tell me what happened. Maybe I can help."
Couldn't think of what picture to put, so here's a famous scene.
