Chapter 78: The Clown
🕑 Added 2025-05-22 17:19:33 +0000 UTCRoy opened the door to find Jennifer standing there with her arms crossed.
"Jennifer? What are you doing here?"
Jennifer pouted, her eyes darting to Keller Evans standing next to Roy.
"What? Am I interrupting something?"
Roy hadn't expected to see such a clear expression of jealousy on Jennifer's face, completely shattering his image of her as an ice queen.
"Not at all. We just finished up. You want to take over?"
Roy deliberately answered Jennifer with a flippant tone.
He was clearly being a bit forced, but the usually clever Jennifer didn't seem to notice, and a look of disappointment washed over her face.
Looks like love really does make women silly.
"Roy, is it because I haven't come to see you lately that you have to call for a hooker?"
Hooker? What hooker?
Roy looked completely bewildered, while Keller next to him was speechless.
Why did everyone keep thinking she was selling something? Did her clothes and demeanor really make her look like a sex worker?
"Madam, I think you've misunderstood. I'm a reporter here to interview Mr. Blake."
Keller pulled out her press pass to show Jennifer.
"I'm a legitimate reporter from the Los Angeles Times, not some hooker!"
Jennifer blinked, then looked at Roy suspiciously.
"But Carly just called me and said Roy had called for a hooker..."
Roy rolled his eyes. So Carly was stirring things up behind his back.
"Jennifer, you actually don't trust me! Ms. Evans heard about my competition and came all the way from Los Angeles for an exclusive interview!"
Roy winked at Keller, who immediately understood.
"Yes, my exclusive interview just finished. Mr. Blake was just joking."
Hearing this, Jennifer felt a bit guilty.
"I'm sorry, Roy. I misunderstood you."
Roy pulled Jennifer into a hug.
"If you're worried about me, you can come over every night to check up on me. Don't believe other people's nonsense. I'm not so desperate that I need to call a hooker."
That was the truth. Roy already had two high-quality girlfriends in Heather and Penny. And if worse came to worst, he could always use Sadako and Kayako. There was no need to hire a hooker.
Jennifer's cheeks flushed slightly, and then she started gritting her teeth.
"That damn Carly, she's going to pay for this at school tomorrow!"
In the distance, Carly, who was secretly filming with a digital camera, sneezed. Peggy beside her was very disappointed.
"Why didn't they fight? That's so disappointing! If Roy and Jennifer broke up, we'd have a chance!"
"Achoo! Peggy, what are you thinking? If I were Jennifer or Needy, and I had such an excellent boyfriend, I wouldn't care even if he went out to play every day!"
"You're right. It's like that at my house. My dad goes out to play every day, and my mom doesn't say anything."
Both girls looked utterly disappointed, clearly hoping to see something more exciting and dramatic, like a hair-pulling catfight or a women's WWE match.
At this moment, Carly suddenly noticed another woman walking over in the distance.
"Something's happening! Peggy, look, another person is coming!"
"Where? Let me see!"
This woman walked straight towards Roy's house, her intention quite clear.
"Jennifer, are you staying tonight?"
Jennifer was a little shy but nodded.
Just as Roy was about to pick Jennifer up, he suddenly heard a voice.
"Mr. Blake, is that you?"
The voice sounded familiar. Roy turned his head and saw Molly, the woman he had met at the motel a few days ago.
Molly was still wearing the long dress from that day, but she was completely dirty, with a lot of bloodstains and signs of smoke on her body.
It was as if she had just escaped from Los Angeles in 2025.
"Molly? What happened to you?"
Molly immediately burst into tears, which made Roy feel awkward because Keller, who hadn't gone far, was looking at him with a strange gaze, as if he had done something terrible.
"What are you looking at? It has nothing to do with me!"
Keller walked over to Molly to comfort her.
"Madam, what happened? You can tell me about it!"
However, Molly ignored Keller and walked over to Roy, grabbing his hand.
"Mr. Blake, my father has been murdered..."
Hearing this, Roy frowned. He carefully looked around, then pulled Molly into the house.
The newest and fastest novels are all here!
"Let's talk inside. Ms. Evans, if you want to hear, come in too!"
Keller was a very righteous person and of course wanted to know what had happened, so she entered Roy's house again.
Carly and Peggy in the distance looked at each other in surprise.
"Wow, Roy is amazing! He actually wants to handle three at once! Can his body take it?"
"I think it's no problem! Carly, do you think if I run over to Roy's house right now, kneel down and cry my heart out, he'll let me join too?"
"You're dreaming!"
The scene shifted to the Lesnicki's house, where Needy was typing furiously on her laptop.
After investigating information about the FEA last time, Needy became very interested in this department and had been intensely searching for related information these past few days.
The more she searched, the more alarmed she became. Needy saw all sorts of terrifying events happening across the country, which was simply shocking.
"This is terrible! The world is actually so dangerous! Oh right, Jennifer rushed out just now. Could she be in any danger?"
Needy suddenly thought of her best friend, then picked up her phone and stood by the window, wanting to check on her friend.
Just then, Needy suddenly saw a pale clown with red hair standing at her door, holding a bunch of balloons in his hand.
The clown tilted his head slightly downwards, his eyes rolled up slightly, looking at Needy in a peculiar way. His mouth was slightly open, revealing a set of jagged, sharp yellow teeth.
Needy and the clown made eye contact. She was stunned for a moment, and then her whole body began to tremble, and some fragmented memories floated into her mind.
The phone fell to the ground with a thud, and then Needy fell backward.
Fortunately, Needy's bed was right behind her, otherwise falling so stiffly might have caused her to hit the back of her head.
Even so, Needy lay on the bed convulsing, as if she were having an epileptic seizure.
Just at this moment, Needy's mother came to knock on the door.
"Needy, are you asleep? Needy? Needy?"
Finding no response from the room, Needy's mother, Rebecca, panicked and went to find her husband, Arthur. Soon, Arthur came to knock on the door.
"Needy, what's wrong? Needy!"
Unable to get a response, Arthur decisively started kicking the door. After kicking it open, he saw Needy lying on the bed convulsing.
"My God, what happened!"
"Arthur, quickly put something in Needy's mouth, be careful she doesn't bite her tongue!"
Rebecca must have had some medical experience, as she immediately found a towel and had her husband put it in Needy's mouth.
"Rebecca, you call an ambulance, I'll hold Needy down!"
"Okay!"
