Chapter 69: Son of the Devil
🕑 Added 2025-05-18 22:09:29 +0000 UTCAmong the seven demon kings of Hell, there is one named Beelzebub, who represents gluttony, one of the seven deadly sins.
Beelzebub's more common depiction is that of a huge and fat fly, which is why he is also known as the Lord of the Flies or Fly King.
In demonology, if you see a demon that looks like a fly or a similar insect, you can basically conclude that it is a member of Beelzebub's retinue.
Just like Kevin right now.
Roy kept shooting at Kevin with his Remington M870, trying to prevent him from completing his transformation, but the guy still shed his human skin and completely turned into a green-headed fly flapping its wings.
And it was a giant version!
How should I put it? Flies are insects that are inherently associated with words like rot, filth, and disease. Even small ones are disgusting, let alone this fly that was about the size of a human.
The Sheriff and Molly couldn't control their bodily instincts and started retching violently.
Roy, because his willpower stat was relatively high, only felt slightly nauseous.
"Get out of here quickly!"
Actually, Roy didn't even need to remind them; the Sheriff and Molly couldn't take it anymore and were already running out of the diner.
And Fly-Kevin, because of Roy's continuous shooting just now, had already locked his hatred onto him.
Click!
Roy pulled the trigger again, but this time the shotgun didn't fire. The magazine had been emptied in the previous shots.
Seeing this, Fly-Kevin immediately flew towards Roy, but he forgot that Roy still had a Smith & Wesson M625 in his left hand. This revolver had only fired one shot and still had five bullets left.
Bang!
The speed at which he pulled the trigger was so fast it almost left afterimages, making the sound of the bullets almost blend into one.
This caused Fly-Kevin to be knocked back by Roy again, and his compound eyes were also blown out by the bullets.
"Roy, I found a bottle of 95-proof vodka! Ugh, so disgusting! Ow!"
Maybe it was because she was too disgusted, or maybe she was too tired from doing biological experiments with Roy earlier, but Penny stumbled over the blanket she was wrapped in when she ran back, and the vodka flew out of her hand.
Fortunately, Roy's enhanced reflexes were still working, and he successfully caught the vodka.
"Penny, you can go outside. Leave the rest to me."
"Roy, what about you? I can't leave you!"
Unexpectedly, in just one night, Penny had given her whole heart to Roy and wouldn't leave him behind no matter what.
This kind of woman might seem silly, but Roy still felt a warmth in his heart. Who wouldn't want someone willing to go through thick and thin with them?
"Alright then, but you mustn't be afraid of what happens next!"
As he spoke, Roy directly entered his Son of the Devil state. His body instantly swelled up, reaching almost two meters in height, and his whole body was emitting visible black mist.
His pupils, like Kevin's just now, turned into dark golden snake eyes, but the whites of his eyes didn't have any blood vessels.
Because Roy's willpower was strong enough, he wouldn't have his reason devoured by the power of the demon.
Compared to the Demon Possession state, the Son of the Devil state increased his attributes even more. Roy glanced at his status panel and found that his three physical attributes had increased by 10 temporary points.
Just as the transformation was complete, Fly-Kevin happened to fly right in front of Roy, making Roy feel extremely disgusted.
"Get lost, you disgusting thing!"
Roy slapped Kevin in the face, and the 34 points of strength directly sent the fly flying out, crashing heavily into the wall.
Maybe the impact was too hard, because Kevin was still wobbling a bit when he got up.
Since his compound eyes had been blown out by Roy, Kevin could only rely on his sense of smell and hearing to determine Roy's location. Then, he heard the sound of a chainsaw.
Where did that chainsaw come from?
Penny saw with her own eyes a strange chainsaw with a mechanical aesthetic appear out of thin air in Roy's hand, and then in the blink of an eye, it transformed into a Gothic-style greatsword burning with flames.
Roy realized that this should be the demon ability mentioned in the Son of the Devil's description. This ability could temporarily enchant the weapon in his hand into a hellish weapon, thereby producing some special effects or causing additional damage.
Roy had originally planned to have Penny look for a lighter, but now it seemed that step could be skipped.
Grinning savagely, Roy opened the 95-proof vodka, took a swig himself, and then sprayed it onto the chainsaw greatsword, instantly making the flames on the sword burn even more fiercely.
At this moment, Kevin, who had turned into a fly, already felt a deep sense of fear. If that straw-like mouthpart could speak, he would definitely say those words:
"Don't come any closer!"
"Die!"
Without any suspense, with his physical attributes and weaponry completely overwhelming Kevin's, the only outcome for Fly-Kevin was to be cut into pieces by Roy and then burned to ashes with alcohol.
\[Ding! Acquired Kevin's Fate Treasure Chest! Open it?\]
With the treasure chest in hand, it meant Kevin should be completely dead.
Roy immediately exited the Son of the Devil state and put the chainsaw sword back into his inventory.
Just one minute of transformation had consumed half of the large amount of fear emotions he had collected during this period.
If it had been the previous Demon Possession, that amount of fear could have sustained a three-minute transformation.

It seems that after upgrading, the Son of the Devil ability has significantly improved in effectiveness, and the consumption has also increased significantly.
"Roy, are you alright?"
Seeing that Fly-Kevin was completely still, Penny rushed over and hugged Roy.
"How could I not be alright?"
Roy opened his arms to show his body, which didn't even have a trace of blood on it.
This was all thanks to the chainsaw greatsword burning with flames. The flames were able to evaporate Kevin's bodily fluids in the first instant, which is why he was so clean.
"Roy, you looked so scary just now!"
After the hug, Penny cupped Roy's face in her hands, her eyes a little dazed.
Hearing this, Roy raised an eyebrow.
"Then were you scared?"
"No, I think I love you even more! I just want to be clinging to you every moment now!"
As she spoke, Penny directly hugged Roy like an octopus and gave him a passionate kiss.
This was the reward that only a victor could enjoy, a reward exclusive to Roy, a reward that Roy couldn't refuse.
"Oh my god! Molly, you can't look at this!"
"Dad, I'm already 17 years old! Why do you still have to cover my eyes?"
"You can't look at this kind of thing until you're an adult!"
"Tch, I've already done it, what's the big deal about just looking?"
"What did you say?!"
Roy and Penny's passionate kiss was interrupted by the Sheriff and his daughter's conversation.
These two must have heard that there was no more noise in the diner and that the monster hadn't run out, so they came in to take a look, only to see Roy and Penny kissing.
"Young man, what about that monster?"
Roy pulled the blanket on Penny up a bit and then pointed to the corner.
"It's been burned to death!"
The Sheriff breathed a sigh of relief, but he quickly thought about the fact that this motel was a wooden structure.
"Damn it, this place is going to catch fire!"
