Chapter 68: The Fly
🕑 Added 2025-05-16 17:10:47 +0000 UTCThe reason revolvers are so popular is that once you load them, you don't really need to maintain them. You can leave them in a drawer for years, and they'll still work when you take them out. Plus, you don't have to worry about them jamming.
Automatic pistols, on the other hand, if you don't use them for a long time, you have to take the bullets out of the magazine. Otherwise, the magazine spring might have issues.
The only real downside to revolvers is that they don't hold as many rounds. Most have eight shots, but if the caliber is larger, like with an M500, you only get five bullets.
Also, reloading them is a bit of a hassle. Even with a speedloader, it's still not as fast as swapping magazines in an automatic pistol.
Kevin was just running into this problem. He realized his revolver was empty and immediately went to reload, but his nerves got the better of him, and he dropped the bullets on the ground.
Meanwhile, Roy had already used his cursed dagger to cut a piece of the blanket and made himself a simple apron.
Honestly, ever since Roy transformed into a demon, his weapon had kind of leveled up. Swinging around a thirty-plus centimeter stick was just a bit much to look at, and it might cause some serious psychological damage to people.
Out of a sense of humanity, Roy decided to keep his weapon hidden. After all, his soul belonged to the East.
A wise person keeps their tools hidden, ready for the right moment.
Seeing Roy, all muscle and radiating manliness, walking towards him, Kevin got even more flustered.
He finally managed to load his gun and was about to fire at Roy when Roy suddenly slid forward, blocked Kevin's trigger finger, and then brutally twisted his wrist.
*[Special character Kevin detected. You can absorb the power of fate to gain rewards!]*
"Ah—!"
"That's a terrible scream, no screaming!"
Roy landed another punch on Kevin's mouth. With his current punching power, one hit could knock out all of Kevin's teeth.
Kevin's eyes widened as he was forced to swallow his own teeth.
Fear was written all over the guy's face, and Roy's body absorbed all that fear.
"You like running cults, huh? Like judging sinners, do you? Enjoy eating people? Like interrupting when others are busy?"
Roy punched Kevin in the stomach again and again, careful not to hit his head too much in case he accidentally killed him with a couple of blows.
But even hitting his stomach was enough for Kevin. The guy threw up the teeth he'd just swallowed, along with his dinner.
The whole scene was pretty disgusting, making Roy stop himself. He didn't want to get his hands dirty.
He figured it would be better to just pull out his gun and finish the guy off!

Just then, Molly's father, the local sheriff, burst in with his gun drawn. The first thing he saw was his daughter on the ground, and then he saw Roy holding a gun.
"Drop your weapon, now!"
Roy turned around in surprise, wondering why he always got mistaken for the bad guy by the police. Did he really look that much like a criminal?
Jennifer, Heather, Penny: Yeah, pretty bad!
But in the current situation, Kevin was kneeling on the ground, bruised and vomiting, while Roy was shirtless, unharmed, and holding a gun. He definitely looked more like the aggressor. You couldn't really blame the sheriff for misunderstanding.
"Hey! I'm the good guy, this dude's the bad guy!"
Roy rolled his eyes and tried to explain, but the sheriff clearly didn't believe him.
"I said, drop your weapon! Or I'll shoot!"
Luckily, Molly got up and ran to her father's side to explain things to him.
"Dad, he's really a good person! That guy in the white clothes is the demon!"
"What?"
The sheriff thought he'd misheard. Molly grabbed his arm.
"It's true! That guy in the white clothes grabbed us and said he was going to eat us. He saved me!"
Even though the sheriff was still a bit skeptical, he had no reason not to believe his daughter.
"Alright, son, put down your gun and step aside. I'll take it from here!"
Roy was speechless, feeling like he was about to get shot in the head.
At that moment, something started happening to Kevin, who was still kneeling on the ground. The stuff he was throwing up was getting weirder and weirder. It had gone from food scraps to some kind of black slime.
Was he producing oil?
Was he about to start growing mold?
After spitting out one last bit of oil, Kevin stood up. His pupils had turned golden, surrounded by bloodshot veins, and he kept repeating the same sentence.
"I'm so hungry! I'm so hungry! I'm so hungry!"
Something was definitely wrong!
His appearance was truly bizarre. Roy took a few steps back and aimed his shotgun at Kevin.
"Put your hands up! Let me see your hands!"
The sheriff quickly aimed his service pistol at Kevin as well and issued a warning.
But Kevin ignored the sheriff's warning. He first glanced at Roy with a look of disgust, and then he started staggering towards the sheriff.
"Stop! If you come any closer, I'll shoot!"

Kevin still ignored the sheriff's warning, so the sheriff finally couldn't hold back and fired at him.
Bang, bang, bang! Three shots in a row!
However, Kevin just paused for a moment and then continued walking towards the sheriff.
Now everyone knew there was something seriously wrong with this Kevin. The sheriff shielded his daughter Molly and backed away repeatedly.
"Back up! Back up! Back up!"
The only response the sheriff got was that sentence.
"I'm so hungry!"
After observing for a while, Roy guessed that Kevin must have fallen into some kind of demonic possession, like Michael Myers.
In this state, regular firearms are unlikely to be effective. Only heavy weaponry would work, like the kind of machine gun that can tear a person's body to shreds.
Once he figured that out, Roy pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The power of the Remington M870 was much greater than the sheriff's revolver. Kevin staggered from the impact of the shot.
Then Kevin turned his head and looked at Roy with a surprised expression, as if asking why he had shot him.
This guy probably thought Roy was one of his kind. After all, Roy was the son of a demon, and Elizabeth's mark was meant to shield him from the Church's detection. But their own kind could still sense each other's presence.
"What are you looking at!"
Roy pulled the trigger again. This shot hit Kevin in the head, directly blowing his brains out.
The other three people in the room all breathed a sigh of relief when they saw this. But Roy knew it wasn't over yet because he hadn't gotten the fate treasure chest.
"Penny, hurry and get me a bottle of strong liquor, it has to be high proof!"
Penny was a bit confused, but she still listened to Roy and headed towards the bar in the dining area.
"Roy, do you want to drink?"
She hadn't taken more than a few steps when Penny suddenly heard Molly scream. She turned around and saw an incredibly horrifying scene.
A huge green head had suddenly emerged from Kevin's empty neck. The head had a pair of black eyes that took up most of its face, and where its mouth should have been was a long, black proboscis.
Wasn't that a fly's head?
The sheriff, Molly, and Penny were all stunned by this sight. Roy quickly yelled at Penny to remind her.
"Penny, go get the liquor! Hurry!"
