*Chapter 45: Interception*
🕑 Added 2025-05-04 19:35:03 +0000 UTCRoy immediately pushed Heather down, and at the same time, pulled out his Smith & Wesson M625 revolver to exchange fire with the soldiers.
The soldiers sprayed the Chevrolet Camaro with automatic weapons, but Roy took the brunt of it on his back.
Bang bang bang bang bang bang!
He rapidly pulled the trigger, emptying the cylinder and successfully taking down several soldiers.
Afterward, Roy got out of the car as if nothing had happened, took out a chainsaw sword from his inventory, and started it up.
"Damn it!"
The soldiers who weren't dead yet tried to fight back, but the furious Roy easily sawed off their hands and legs with the chainsaw sword.
The van driver, seeing this scene, was so scared that he opened the other side door to try and escape, but Roy threw the chainsaw sword at him, splitting him in half.
Seeing that the fight was over, Heather quickly got out of the car to check Roy's back.
"Roy, you've been shot so many times, what do we do?"
Heather burst into tears right there.
Roy took out the Sinclair Brothers' dagger from his inventory and handed it to Heather.
"Heather, don't be scared! What you need to do now is use this dagger to dig the bullets out of my back."
With Roy's constitution at 30 points, as long as the bullets didn't hit any vital organs, they definitely wouldn't kill him.
What's more, when those soldiers were shooting just now, they were shooting through the car's exterior, so the power of the penetrating bullets was reduced.
"Right here?"
"Hurry, while the adrenaline is still pumping, I can't feel the pain!"
If he didn't dig out the bullets soon, Roy would have to worry about his wounds healing over, which would be even more troublesome.
Heather helped Roy dig out the bullets while crying. Fortunately, they were mostly just embedded in Roy's skin, so the procedure wasn't too difficult.
Soon, Heather finished the job, and then she noticed that some of the wounds on Roy's body had already started to heal.
"Roy, how are your wounds healing so fast?"
"Don't make such a fuss, Heather, your man is not ordinary!"
Heather thought of the chainsaw sword Roy had just conjured up when he got out of the car and nodded, a little slow on the uptake.
At this moment, someone spoke on the radio in the van again. The voice was very familiar; it was the same voice from the police car radio earlier.
"Hey, is everything taken care of?"
Roy reached out and took the radio handset.
"Bastards, don't let me find you, or you're dead!"
After saying that, Roy still punched the radio, smashing it. This time he was really angry.
If Roy's constitution hadn't already been upgraded to 30 points, and if he hadn't reacted so quickly, both Heather and he would have died in the car.
Just like David in the car.
When the soldiers opened fire just now, David used his last bit of strength to push Amy down, shielding her from the bullets.
Now David was definitely beyond saving, and Amy could only hold his body and silently weep.
"Amy, are you alright?"
"I'm fine, but David..."
Amy finally lost control of her emotions and completely broke down.
Roy didn't know how to comfort her, so he just silently wrapped David in a blanket from the car, preparing to put him in the trunk.
"Please let me see him one more time!"
Amy stroked David's face, as if saying a silent goodbye.
After a while, Amy turned her head and cried silently.
Heather comforted Amy, while Roy put David's body away.
Then he threw the soldiers' bodies into the van and drove the obstructing van to the side of the road.
By the time all this was done, the wounds on Roy's back had already healed.
Roy restarted the used yellow Chevrolet Camaro and got back on the road. The car fell silent, and none of the three had anything to say.
Nothing else unexpected happened on the rest of the journey, except that it got a bit cold.
Yeah, because one side of the car had been riddled with bullet holes, the air conditioning didn't work with so much air leaking in.
Roy could only give his clothes to Heather and Amy to keep them from catching a cold.
As for Roy himself, he just had to tough it out.
As dawn was breaking, Roy finally drove into Denver.
"Amy, Heather and I are going to continue our trip. What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to take David to the morgue first, and then call the police."
Roy shook his head.
"I wouldn't recommend that. The forces behind the motel are not small. You saw what happened on the road; they might find you through the police information."
Hearing this, an expression of resentment appeared on Amy's face.
"Are we just going to let those villains get away with it?"
"I'll find some time to settle the score with that organization. You don't have to worry about them."
The newest novels are first released here!
Amy had already witnessed Roy's fighting power.
"Roy, if you can help me get revenge, I'm willing to give you half of David's inheritance!"
That mysterious organization had likely already set its sights on Roy; even without the money, Roy would deal with them.
However, since Amy was willing to pay, Roy wouldn't refuse.
"I understand. Let's exchange contact information."
Amy wrote down a phone number and handed it to Roy, who likewise wrote down his mobile phone number for Amy.
"Where are you going next?"
"Take me home in Denver first."
Roy drove the car to Amy's house and carried David's body inside.
"Amy, then this is goodbye. If anything happens, you can call me."
Although there was still some sadness on Amy's face, her emotions had mostly stabilized, and she gave Roy a hug.
"Thank you, Roy!"
Afterward, Roy drove the Chevrolet Camaro. He didn't go to Aspen right away but instead found a repair shop to fix the car first.
It had to be fixed. The Chevrolet Camaro was letting in so much air that going up a snowy mountain would freeze someone to death.
Then the repair shop owner said that with such severe bullet holes, it would be better to just scrap the car and get a new one. But Roy was sentimental and didn't want to replace his ride, so he could only pay extra to have the owner fix it.
In capitalist countries, money is omnipotent.
After receiving the money, the repair shop owner said he could definitely fix the Chevrolet Camaro to be exactly like a new car, but it would take time.
"Then can I come back to pick up the car after Christmas?"
"No problem, you can rest assured!"
The repair shop owner patted his chest, guaranteeing it.
After leaving the repair shop, Roy was about to rent a car when his phone suddenly rang.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is XXX Hotel. We are very sorry, but because you did not check in at your scheduled time, the hotel has given your reserved room to someone else."
"What did you say? What the f***! Explain yourself!"
The call had already been disconnected, and Roy was so angry he almost crushed his phone.
Although this kind of thing often happens during peak tourist season, Roy was still very angry.
He was mainly angry that the surprise he had prepared for Heather was ruined.
"Roy, what happened?"
Heather was a bit far away and didn't hear the phone conversation.
"It's nothing, honey, I'm going to rent a car now!"
I wonder if the car rental place has any information about bed and breakfasts in Aspen?
