Chapter 7: Thrashing the Root
🕑 Added 2025-05-10 09:06:53 +0000 UTC“Is this kid an idiot or what?”
Seeing Kazama spread his arms wide, seemingly welcoming the powerful Suiton: Suiryūdan (Water Dragon Bullet), the two Root ninja burst into mocking laughter.
But the next moment, their jaws dropped in shock.
Not only did the Suiryūdan fail to kill Kazama, but he absorbed it completely into his body.
Ding! Successfully absorbed B-rank Suiton: Suiryūdan. Congratulations, host, for acquiring A-rank ninjutsu, Suiton: Suidanpa (Water Severing Wave)! It also comes with additional damage from the Mysterious Yellow Flame!
Absorb one more ninjutsu, and the host will unlock the second unique flame, Ten Thousand Beast Spirit Flame!
“I didn’t expect getting these unique flames would be this easy. I just got the Mysterious Yellow Flame, and now, by absorbing one more ninjutsu, I’ll get the Ten Thousand Beast Spirit Flame!” Kazama thought.
The two Root ninja had assumed Kazama could only absorb Katon (Fire Release) techniques. They never imagined he could absorb Suiton (Water Release) too. How were they supposed to fight this?
This was something they’d never encountered before.
“There’s no ninja in this world who can absorb ninjutsu! Just who the hell are you?!” one of them shouted.
Though they were yelling at Kazama, their hearts were racing with panic.
They tried to stay calm, hoping to stall until other ninja arrived. The commotion from the battle was loud enough to draw attention, after all.
If they could lure other ninja here, they could frame Kazama as a spy sent by the enemy and take him down.
“I’m the one who’s here to avenge the Sanada clan!” Kazama declared.
Without hesitation, he unleashed his ninjutsu. “Suiton: Suidanpa! (Water Severing Wave)”
Before the two Root ninja could react, Kazama spat out a high-speed, linear jet of water from his mouth. It instantly transformed into a razor-sharp water blade.
In the blink of an eye, it sliced the Root ninja who’d attacked him clean in half.
Thanks to the Mysterious Yellow Flame infused in all of Kazama’s attacks—including his Suiton—the ninja’s bisected body was immediately incinerated into ashes by the fiery effect.
The sudden turn of events left the other Root ninja pale with terror.
Kazama, a dead-last who couldn’t even qualify as a Genin, was using both Katon and Suiton—two completely different chakra natures. That alone was shocking.
But seeing that his Suiton attack carried fire-based properties? That was beyond comprehension.
This Root ninja realized he’d messed with the wrong guy. He’d thought Kazama was an easy target, a soft persimmon to squash. Now, it was clear Kazama was more like the King of Hell himself.
“Could this be the power of a Kekkei Genkai (Bloodline Limit)? I’ve heard the defining trait of a Kekkei Genkai is fusing two different chakra natures,” the ninja thought, his mind racing.
With that, he decided to flee. He had no confidence in defeating someone with a Kekkei Genkai who could absorb and nullify attacks.
“Next up, it’s your turn!” Kazama said coldly.
As he cut down the Root ninja responsible for slaughtering his clan, one by one, Kazama felt an indescribable thrill.
To the remaining Root ninja, the dead-last Kazama had become the embodiment of death itself.
“No way! I’ve got to call for Danzō-sama’s backup!” the ninja stammered.
He quickly created a Bunshin (clone) to attack Kazama while his real body made a break for it.
“You’re not getting away! Suiton: Suidanpa! (Water Severing Wave)” Kazama shouted.
He unleashed the Suidanpa again. The technique was not only devastatingly powerful but had a long range, perfect for taking out fleeing enemies.
The moment Kazama’s Suiton: Suidanpa was released, it pierced straight through the clone charging at him.
And in the same instant, it shot forward, impaling the fleeing ninja’s real body, killing him on the spot.
