Chapter 55: Transmission Maintenance
🕑 Added 2025-05-10 01:48:58 +0000 UTCBack at the Japanese guesthouse, Roy indeed saw Heather sitting in front of the TV waiting for him to return.
The two hugged and watched TV for a while. A soap opera was playing.
However, Roy wasn't interested in such vapid soap operas; he was only watching because Heather liked them.
As they watched, Roy's mind began to wander.
Didn't he still have two treasure chests to open? Might as well open them now!
Thinking this, Roy grabbed Heather and started to "knead the dough," hoping to get a boost of good luck.
This caused Heather's body to quickly soften, as if all her bones had been removed.
"Roy, I'm still feeling a little unwell!"
"It's okay, my hands are just a bit itchy and wanted to knead something."
Hearing this, Heather shifted her position, allowing Roy to demonstrate his "kneading" skills more easily.
"System, open Kayako Kawamata's conquest treasure chest!"
\[Opening Kayako Kawamata's conquest treasure chest...\]
\[Obtained 2 Memory attribute points!\]
\[Obtained 2 Willpower attribute points!\]
He only got 4 mental attribute points and no summonable creature. Roy felt a bit disappointed.
Could it be that his luck was just bad today, and even Heather couldn't help him?
At this moment, Roy suddenly felt his zipper being pulled down. It seemed Heather sensed his arousal and was preparing to give his "stick shift" some maintenance.
Yes, "stick shift maintenance" requires careful control of temperature and humidity, and the technique demands high skill.
Heather was clearly a novice and had probably only watched some instructional videos without any hands-on experience.
However, under Roy's earnest guidance, Heather quickly became proficient.
During this process, Roy had the system open the second treasure chest.
\[Opening Sadako Yamamura's conquest treasure chest...\]
\[Obtained 2 Mental attribute points!\]
\[Obtained 2 Willpower attribute points!\]
\[Obtained Cursed Hair!\]
He still got 4 mental attribute points. Maybe because they were ghosts, he couldn't get any physical attributes.
Fortunately, this time he got an item.
\[Cursed Hair: Damp black hair from an evil spirit, carrying resentment. It can grow infinitely and has extreme flexibility.\]
Hair?
Roy remembered the hair he had pulled from Sadako in the car earlier. Its flexibility was indeed excellent.
If Sadako hadn't actively broken off the hair at that time, Roy could definitely have pulled her out.
It was a somewhat functional item, better than nothing.
Coming back to his senses, Roy immediately felt Heather's dutiful "maintenance" work. It was as if she was caring for a precious treasure, making him feel extremely pleased both physically and mentally.
So, Roy could no longer hold back, and the "stick shift" accidentally leaked oil.
Fortunately, Heather reacted in time and tried to catch all the leaked oil. However, she overestimated her receiving capacity and underestimated the amount of leakage.
This resulted in a lot of "oil" leaking out of her nostrils, almost choking Heather.
Roy quickly patted Heather on the back.
"Heather, you don't have to force yourself next time."
"Cough cough cough! I just didn't expect the amount to be so large!"
Well, of course. There's a term called "anime quantity," which describes Roy perfectly. This isn't something ordinary people can achieve.
After the "stick shift" maintenance was done, Roy peacefully held Heather and watched the soap opera together.
You know what? If you turn off your brain, soap operas can actually be quite entertaining.
It was almost midnight when Roy's phone suddenly rang.
"Hello, who is this?"
The voice on the other end of the phone was intermittent, but upon careful listening, he could make out Kelly's voice.
"Roy... it's me! Something... happened at my house... please come... help me!"
Kelly's voice was tearful, clearly very frightened.
Roy frowned. He guessed that the plot of the horror movie had already begun.
"Hello! Kelly, speak more clearly! What exactly happened?"
But the phone went to a busy signal at this moment.
Heather, who was in Roy's arms, heard the noise and asked him curiously.
"Roy, what's wrong? I think I heard a girl's voice?"
"It's the neighbor next door. It seems something happened at their place."
The latest novels are first published on \[website address, which I will omit as per instructions]!
"Really? What happened?"
Roy put his phone away and stood up.
"I'm not sure what exactly happened yet, but I'm going to go take a look. Heather, stay home and don't wander around. Make sure you keep Sadako's dagger with you, she'll protect you!"
"Roy, please be careful yourself!"
"Don't worry, Heather, I'm invincible!"
After saying this, Roy walked out of the Japanese guesthouse.
Kelly's rented guesthouse was right next door, just a few steps away, but Roy noticed that this guesthouse seemed to be covered by some kind of translucent substance.
The light seemed to be affected by this substance, making the area around Kelly's guesthouse darker.
Was this some kind of barrier?
Roy pulled out Kayako's dagger and tentatively reached into this area, only to find that the tip of the dagger had disappeared.
Pulling the dagger back, he found that it was perfectly fine and nothing was missing.
Roy immediately understood the function of this translucent substance. It was probably a barrier that could distort vision and hearing, preventing outsiders from seeing or hearing what was inside.
No wonder his guesthouse was so close to Kelly's, yet he hadn't heard any noise just now.
Kelly's phone call was also likely affected by this barrier.
After figuring this out, Roy immediately stepped into the barrier. The world he saw instantly changed. He saw a middle-aged woman lying at the door of the guesthouse with a large pool of blood beneath her.
Roy quickly walked over to check on her and found that this middle-aged woman had been stabbed in the abdomen with a sharp weapon, but she was still breathing.
"Hold on!"
"Please, please... save... save my children!"
This woman should be Kelly's mother. Even in such a dangerous situation, her first thought was for her children.
"Don't talk for now. I'll try to stop the bleeding simply, and then I'll go save your children!"
Kelly's mother had lost so much blood that if he didn't give her first aid immediately, she would probably die.
Fortunately, Roy had experienced so many incidents that he had gained some experience in first aid. In just a few minutes, he bandaged Kelly's mother and then began to ask her for details.
"Madam, what attacked you?"
"A doll, a moving doll! It attacked my husband! I told the children to hide first, and then I wanted to lure the doll away, but it caught up to me and stabbed me!"
A doll that likes to stab people with a knife?
Roy immediately thought of the horror movie Child's Play.
"Madam, please hold on. I'll go save your children right now."
Kelly's mother saw that Roy was so young, not much older than her daughter, and couldn't help but feel a little worried.
"Child, you should still call the police quickly. That doll is very scary."
"Don't worry, Madam, dealing with these kinds of weird things is my specialty!"
