Chapter 54: The Blonde Girl
🕑 Added 2025-05-08 22:50:25 +0000 UTCRoy felt that Jennifer's changes were a bit drastic, one moment as cold as ice, the next as passionate as fire, like she had split personalities.
Was it because of Michael Myers' influence, or was her family bloodline awakening?
Roy couldn't be sure for a moment, but no matter what, he would definitely not let anything happen to Jennifer.
"Perhaps I can have a good chat with Professor Elizabeth?"
Yes, Roy was truly just being studious, wanting to learn some new positions from Elizabeth.
Afterward, Roy helped Needy's father, Arthur, chop some firewood, and then he prepared to take his leave.
"Roy, why don't you stay overnight at the vacation home tonight?"
When Needy made this suggestion, Roy immediately felt the legendary death stare, coming directly from his future father-in-law, Arthur.
Sure enough, even though they had a good relationship, if his daughter was really going to be taken away, the old father would still have some instinctive reactions.
Roy quickly declined. The pressure from that death stare was even more terrifying than the Wax Figure Demon.
"No, I already paid for my accommodation, I can't just leave the rental empty, can I?"
"Roy's right, we already paid to rent the place, it would be a waste not to stay," Arthur immediately chimed in with a chuckle, but his little thoughts were seen through by his wife, Rebecca, who rolled her eyes at him.
As the saying goes, the more a mother-in-law looks at her son-in-law, the more she likes him.
Rebecca was extremely satisfied with Roy. He was handsome, had a good physique, and had the potential to become a sports star. Could there be a better son-in-law?
If it weren't for the fact that her daughter Needy had excellent grades and getting into an Ivy League school was a certainty, Rebecca would have wanted Roy and her daughter to get married right away.
Hearing this, both Needy and Jennifer were a little disappointed.
"Then how about we have dinner?"
Jennifer offered a new suggestion, and this time Roy didn't refuse.
And so, Roy had a happy dinner with Needy's family at the vacation home.
Roy, from the future, skillfully used various internet slang, making everyone laugh heartily.
Especially political jokes.
In America, many people believe that as long as you criticize the government, you're my friend.
In the end, Arthur, who had drunk some wine, even started putting his arm around Roy's shoulder. If Rebecca hadn't stopped them, the two of them would have become sworn brothers.
Well, I'll call you father-in-law, and you can call me brother, let's each address each other as we see fit.
Roy also had some wine, but it didn't affect his ability to drive back to Snowmass Village. Fortunately, it was already close to Christmas Eve, and there were no police patrolling the streets at all.
Even if Roy drove erratically, no one would care, although he wasn't drunk to that extent yet.
Suddenly, Roy noticed the blonde girl he had met in the afternoon sitting alone on a park swing, looking very lonely in the dim light.
After thinking for a moment, Roy decided to stop the car and chat with Kelly.
"Hey, what are you doing sitting here all by yourself? Is something wrong?"
Hearing the voice, Kelly looked up at Roy, then lowered her head again and continued to be emo.
Roy raised an eyebrow. Even a handsome guy couldn't cheer up the blonde girl. It seemed she was really sad.
So, Roy sat down next to Kelly.
"If you're feeling unhappy about something, you can talk to me. Maybe it will make you feel better."
Kelly finally couldn't help but speak.
"My parents recently adopted a little boy. They're now doting on him every day and have completely forgotten about me."
So that was the issue.
This kind of thing should be quite common in families with multiple children. Some children feel that they are not getting enough attention from their parents, which leads to psychological problems.
Kelly should be in her rebellious phase. Children in this age group don't want their parents to interfere with their freedom, but they also want to be valued by their parents.
This feeling is very complicated, and it can therefore lead to conflicts with parents.
"Maybe they haven't forgotten you, they're just giving more attention to the little boy because he's new and needs more care. Or maybe they haven't forgotten and are just planning a surprise for you?"
Roy still tried to put a positive spin on it, but Kelly stubbornly shook her head.
"Hmph! I personally heard them excitedly discussing Andy's Christmas presents, but no one mentioned my Christmas present!"
So it was about Christmas presents. That really fit Kelly's age.
Roy couldn't help but laugh, which made Kelly a little unhappy.
"What are you laughing at! You jerk, you don't think I'm being childish, do you?"
Roy responded with an even louder laugh, which made Kelly feel embarrassed and indignant. She couldn't help but hit Roy a few times.
However, she didn't control her strength well, and ended up hurting her own hand.

"Ouch! Why is your body so hard?"
"Because I'm a boxer, although I'm just a high school boxer."
Kelly carefully looked at Roy's face. It was quite rare to see such a handsome boxer. She even started to worry that this perfect work of art would be ruined by punches.
Roy felt that the atmosphere had changed a bit, so he started trying to get information out of Kelly. So far, he didn't know which horror movie she was from, so he wanted to understand the situation.
"Kelly, tell me about your new little brother."
As soon as Roy mentioned the new member of her family, Kelly started to frown again.
"That guy, I heard he has psychological problems. He just got out of a mental hospital. He's always acting weird and even afraid of dolls. He's just a little psycho!"
Afraid of dolls?
Roy started searching his mind for horror movies related to dolls. He realized there were quite a few of them.
After all, the uncanny valley theory is quite famous. Many people are afraid of human-like dolls, especially when they are alone.
He needed more clues to determine which horror movie it was.
"Perhaps that's why your parents are paying more attention to him? Sick people are always more likely to receive everyone's care."
Hearing this, Kelly was stunned for a moment, and then she became excited.
"So that's it! I should have thought of that! That kid is using this to get attention! I can too!"
What the heck? You've got the wrong focus, haven't you?
Roy had just opened his mouth to speak when Kelly excitedly stood up.
"Thank you, Roy! I know what to do. I'll pretend to have depression when I get home. I must get the attention back!"
Classic "sick girl" trope, huh?
Roy was a bit speechless, but at this moment, Kelly had already happily run towards the vacation home they had rented.
The moonlight shone on Kelly, casting a long shadow. Roy vaguely saw a small shadow behind her.
Was it an illusion?
In the blink of an eye, Kelly had disappeared.
Roy had no choice but to shake his head, stand up, and prepare to return to his own rental. Heather was definitely waiting for him.
He couldn't keep a beauty waiting for too long!
