Chapter 42: Vacancy
🕑 Added 2025-05-02 02:38:33 +0000 UTCAre they seriously going this far?
Roy looked at Room Four with suspicion, feeling an inexplicable sense that something was wrong. Could it be that he'd triggered some kind of horror movie plot without even realizing it?
With this thought in mind, Roy was about to knock on Room Four's door again, but the motel owner suddenly stepped forward and stopped him.
"Sir, if there's anything needed in Room Four, I'll take care of it. You just need to go back to your own room!"
*[Discovered special character Mason. You can absorb the power of fate to obtain rewards!]*
The motel owner was actually a special character too!
Roy immediately recalled a relatively obscure thriller. Although it starred the "English Rose," it wasn't very well-known.
The movie was called Vacancy.
It was about a perverted motel owner who installed hidden cameras in the rooms and then made underground video tapes by torturing and killing his guests.
It was said that after this movie was released, many already struggling motels went out of business.
Having figured this out, Roy narrowed his eyes at the motel owner, Mason.
"Why do you keep trying to get me to go back to my room? Are you hiding something?"
At this point, Mason finally lost his patience and brought out the hand he had been holding behind his back. It turned out the guy had been holding a black revolver in his other hand the whole time.
"You little brat, can't you just listen?"
Roy suddenly reached out and grabbed Mason's hand that was holding the revolver. The grip strength of 24 points of Strength was something an ordinary person couldn't withstand.
Mason let out a miserable scream.
"Ah—let go!"
"Do I need to teach you some manners? You should say 'please'!"
Mason was clearly not very good at politeness. He actually tried to pull the trigger of the revolver.
Luckily, Roy's reaction speed was extremely fast. He directly broke Mason's wrist and twisted the gun, causing Mason to shoot himself in the abdomen.
The piercing gunshot shattered the silence above the motel. This place was so remote that even if a gun went off, no one would hear it.
Inside Room Four, a man wearing a hood spoke up after hearing the gunshot.
"That nosy kid should have been taken care of by Mason! Too bad, we missed out on some good footage."
Another hooded man replied to his companion.
"I thought that kid's girlfriend was pretty hot, almost like a movie star. Maybe we can make up for the missed footage with her!"
"Whoa, good idea!"
David and Amy were in despair.
Around the time Roy received that strange phone call, these two hooded men had come out of a secret passage in the bathroom and subdued them. The sound of something hitting the wall was from that moment.
Afterward, when Roy came to Room Four and knocked, it was also these two hooded men who turned off the lights.
However, David and Amy, though controlled, didn't just sit there and wait to die. First, David took advantage of the hooded man controlling him being focused on what was happening outside the room and suddenly resisted, hitting the wall.
This was the second wall-hitting sound Roy heard.
For this, David paid the price of being stabbed several times by the hooded man, completely losing his ability to resist.
As for the banging on the door that later alerted Roy, it was Amy biting the hand of the hooded man controlling her in a last-ditch effort.
Amy wanted to break out of the room, but the door had been locked in a special way by the two hooded men. She couldn't open it for a while and could only desperately keep banging on the door with her body.
The two hooded men regained control of Amy. Just as they turned on the lights, ready to continue their work, they saw the room door being punched through.
The person outside tore the solid wood door off its hinges as easily as tearing through foam.
"Hey, how's it going?"
Roy, who had just entered, didn't forget to greet the two hooded men.
"Fuck! This kid isn't dead!"
One of the hooded men also had a gun. After realizing what had happened, he immediately tried to draw it.
But how could this guy's speed in drawing a gun compare to Roy, who possessed Bob Munden's shooting skills?
Amy only felt a blur before Roy had a Smith & Wesson M625 revolver in his hand. Immediately after, a muzzle flash appeared.
Bang!
By this time, the hooded man's revolver had just been drawn, but he had already been shot and fallen to the ground.
The remaining hooded man was completely dumbfounded. He quickly raised his hands, wanting to surrender.
However, Roy didn't let this guy go and directly shot him dead.
With a neat spin, Roy holstered the Smith & Wesson M625. He then walked over to Amy and David to check on them.
"Are you guys okay?"
It was only now that Amy came back to her senses after Roy's lightning-fast double kill.
"I'm okay, I just have some superficial injuries, but David is seriously hurt!"
As she spoke, Amy was already lying on David, starting to cry.
Roy turned David's body over. The guy had been stabbed several times in the stomach by the hooded man, and the wounds were very deep.
Fortunately, only his stomach was injured, so David should be able to hold on for a while.
The importance of the abdominal organs is slightly lower than that of the organs in the chest cavity, at least they won't directly cause death.
That's why people who are cut in half can struggle for a long time before they die.
"Amy, you need to call the police right now! I'll help David stop the bleeding!"
"Okay!"
Roy looked around and found that there wasn't any clean cloth in the room.
Helpless, Roy could only tear off his down jacket and use the down feathers inside to help David stop the bleeding.
"Roy, thank you."
David thanked Roy weakly.
"Save your thanks until you're alive to say it. You can just give me a bonus then."
David nodded with difficulty.
"I will!"
To prevent David from going into shock due to excessive blood loss, Roy started talking to him.
"I'm curious, in such a dangerous country like America, why don't you guys carry guns when you go out?"
This was also a common occurrence in horror movies. Clearly, in America, you can buy a rifle at 18 and a handgun at 21 and apply for a concealed carry permit.
But the protagonists in horror movies go everywhere without guns.
Out in the wilderness, even if you don't encounter a perverted serial killer, you might run into wild animals, right?
David nodded.
"If I can survive this time, I'll definitely carry a gun with me."
Amy, who was on the phone at the bedside, threw the receiver down.
"Roy, there's no signal on my cell phone, and the landline isn't working either!"
"What did you say?"
Roy was very strange. What about the phone call he had just received? Was it just a boring prank by that guy Mason?
"I think the phone at the front desk should still be working. Amy, you help David hold his wound, I'll go call!"
Roy wasn't sure if the plot of Vacancy had changed, so he decided to call the police himself.
Outside Room Four, Mason, who still had a breath left, was crawling laboriously on the ground, leaving a trail of blood. He was truly tenacious despite his injuries.
Roy stepped on Mason's back with one foot.
"Anything else you want to say?"
"The dark web won't let you get away with this!"
