I feel like a pure lottery system is the only way… I understand emphasizing standardized testing more in lieu of silly résumé padding. But I think if that was made the big criterion for admission, it could create the kind of test prep culture you see in France and Korea and other places. And if elite parents have their kids found clubs and get in honors societies today, I think they could game a system based on standardized tests alone just as easily, if not more.
