I partially grew up in the quiet and somewhat empty town of Covilha in the cold Northern Portuguese mountains - so it was a mind-trip for me to learn that they picked it as a location for a data center that gets bombed in a sci-fi TV show, let alone being chosen as the location for that to hapen in this show. Crazy

this show is so peak... and its scary how close this show hits home cause i literally listened to an interview of Dr. Roman Yampolskiy whos a professor at university of louisville and researched AI for a long time and now acts to propagate ethics and he genuinely talked about damn near everything that happened in this show, he focuses on superintelligence but he even mentioned UI and talked about how a superintelligence could create viruses... and the pace of technological advancement... this show released just as all of this AI stuff was getting attention from the public in the first place next episode is even more peak - but tbh Pantheon is an optimistic version of how this goes, partially because they assume upload works completely

I think the idea is the UI process is destructive and doesn't work in reverse. It's likely they could have eventually figured it out but by the time they could, nobody would want that anymore. Also, have you seen Altered Carbon? Not the greatest alternative lol.

Okay, that was a lot. But we glazed over the fact that a lab made human/clone is still capable of having children!? Why didn't they work more on that instead of immediately jumping to ditching human bodies altogether? Could've did some brain chip, memory download thing with that. I know the show is more about UI and CI, but goddamn did they jump right in the deep end.

One cool thing this show does that I think is phenomenal is talk about the speed of human evolution. It reminds me of the Three Body Problem. The aliens feared how far we could get with our technology if left unchecked

Hmm, if the uploaded are that good at controlling robots you think they could figure out how to build a spaceship and send some robots to Mars to build their own servers. No need to even worry about humans, just spread out into space without them.

THIS IS A MINOR SPOILER SO IGNORE IF YOU DON'T WANT IT. This is just a personal take, but I really wish they explored Mist's love for Caspian more. Maybe it's because I like the drama, but I really think that Mist's emotions is being understated. She's a CI, her basis for emotion could be completely foreign but at the same time totally understandable. Like that's CRAZY.
