🕑 Added 2018-08-18 17:10:49 +0000 UTC I've always had somewhat of an uncomfortable relationship with my native accent, a worry that it will cause people to make assumptions about who I am. As such, when promos for the new Venom film went out and fans started up with some complaints about Eddie Brock's "unfitting" characterization as a rough-and-tumble Bronxite but also an educated journalist... I felt a little something. This, despite the fact that I really couldn't care less about the film itself. So, I decided to do a deep dive into the history of Eddie Brock's characterization both on- and off-screen, as a way of introducing the topic of 'typing' and media representations of class. Hope you enjoy.Oh! And if any of you are fans of anactualjoke and/or AngieSpeaks... you're in for a treat!
