Giving Ryan a well informed doctor is a great counterbalance to the potential misinformation scheme that Ryan’s mother perpetrated against him. Still, we need to understand what Ryan’s mother’s motivations were. Protecting your child from harm is a great motivator, so whatever she felt could happen to Ryan must be worth the risk of using hormone therapy so aggressively.

Well we know Ryan's mother was being dishonest with him. But if she was just a crazy woman transitioning her daughter against her will, that's quite a basic story, so I wonder if there's a bit more going on here?
