Chell woke up to the sound of music, looking around she could see she was in one of the Aperture deep stasis cells. Grimacing, she looked around, how had she gotten back here? The last she remembered she had escaped made her way outside. There was a door, a field of grass, the warm breeze across her face, the sun shining down upon her. She was happy.
Thinking about it more the memory came back, something or someone struck her in the head. Reaching up Chell felt where the blow had happened. There was no welt or soreness. How long had she been out? How long had she been trapped back in this laboratory of death? The door to her cell opened. Chell ground her teeth and stepped out.
It didn’t matter. She was awake again and she would get out again. Chell had bested GLaDOS twice now and wound up back here. This time Chell had, had enough, she was going to put an end to GLaDOS and put an end to the madness that was the Aperture Science Facility.
Chell walked into the first testing room and an all too familiar voice came over the speakers “welcome to the Aperture Science Testing Facil…” GLaDOS’s voice cut off “oh it’s you,” she said flatly. “What are you doing here?” she asked, “I thought I kicked you out?” Chell didn’t answer. That thing didn’t deserve an answer.
“Well if you won’t tell me I’ll just find out myself,” GLaDOS was silent for a moment. Chell looked around the room looking for anything that would indicate a way out. “Ahhh I see,” GLaDOS chimed back in. “one of the idiots knocked you out and dragged you back in. Why couldn’t they have just killed you instead?” GLaDOS sighed “well let's get this over with.”
A panel on the floor opened near Chell. The portal gun popped up in front of her, she reached out to pick it up. Chell was amazed that GLaDOS would give this to her again. “Look, I'll make you a deal,” GLaDOS said. “Just run these tests for me and I’ll let you go,” Chell eyed the camera suspiciously “I won’t even intentionally try to kill you,” GLaDOS added in as cheerful a voice as she could manage.
“Look, I have to run these tests. You know that, just do the tests for me and you’re free, I don’t want to deal with you anymore. You are beneath my time now,” GLaDOS said candidly “I’ll even give you easy tests. I just want you gone.” Chell didn’t trust the homicidal robot for an instant still, for now, she had to play long, she nodded agreeing.
“Good, I’m glad you’re not a stupid as I thought you were,” the door on the other side of the chamber opened “keep in mind though that I think you are very, very, very stupid.” Chell glared at the camera but made her way through the door. Once inside she rode the elevator down to the first testing chamber.
Chell went to work clearing through the first few test chambers with ease. As she landed on a high ledge in the fourth testing chamber she used her vantage point to have a good look around. “You know you’re pretty graceful, for a fat cow,” GLaDOS chirped at Chell, the mad AI always seemed to relish in prodding Chell even when she was trying to play nice.
Finally, Chell caught a glimpse of what she was looking for. There was an uncovered panel in this testing room. With all of the damage, Wheatley had caused Chell knew GLaDOS would slip up eventually. Still what Chell saw on the other side of the open panel did confuse her. It looked like a stencil of multiple pairs of breasts. Each one was bigger than the last. Chell couldn’t let go of this though she had to make her move.
Shooting a portal onto the white wall the strange stencils were on she shot another below herself. “No! Wait! What are you doing!?” GLaDOS stammered out as Chell disappeared outside of the testing room. Chell hurtled through the air before landing with a splash into a large vat of pink goo. Standing up Chell was waist-deep in whatever this stuff was. She looked around trying to find a place to put a portal so she could keep moving.
She could hear GLaDOS calling out in the distance, but another voice came over the speakers as the room Chell was in lit up. “Hello? Hello? This thing on?” It was the voice of Cave Johnson the, now deceased, CEO of Aperture Science. “When the tech boys asked me how I was planning to feed all of the people working here I said milk!” Chell waded through the goop making her way to the edge of the vat.
“They said that cow milk wasn’t a viable source of nutrients. To which I said of course not ya dingus it’s gotta be human milk,” Cave’s recording continued. Chell paused at that statement, was he serious? She was starting to feel warm now especially in her chest “One of the tech guys said that wasn’t going to fly.” “Jokes on him though,” Cave said with his usual smugness “I transferred him to the prototype jet testing facility, pilot division.”
“We’ll see who flies now,” Cave said before his laugh rang out over the speakers “best part? Guy was afraid of heights.” Chell wasn’t paying attention to the recording anymore.
