I can’t believe you skipped This love (Taylor’s version)??? That’s the most improved song!!! I feel like 1989 received more criticism because of two things (a) the singles from this album specifically ruled the radio and people know every sound in those songs (b) Taylor chose those singles to sound the most different from anything else? For eg: Style original version has very much the same sounds as Taylor’s Version, but in TV the bass doesn’t override everything like it did in Original Version

The build up in Clean TV sounds like water slowly rising which symbolizes her drowning. I can’t explain why but it just sounds like that!

I think all of the other Taylor’s Versions preceding 1989 had something to gain from advancements in music production. Especially Speak Now and Fearless being roughly 15 years old. What I love about 1989 (original) is that its a major pop album produced with a fairly small record label still, and its Taylor’s most playful album production wise up to that point and it’s the playfulness that is missing from Taylor’s Version. You just cannot recreate the fun in innovation they were all experiencing making that album. Even If technically’ there’s an improvement, it loses the spirit somewhat.

I MUCH prefer Girl at Home TV 🩷✨ and I have no nostalgia attached to the original cause I'd never heard it before this year. I don't listen to the original.

My "Unpopular opinion" is that I think I like the redo's more. I'm not a country girl and ACTIVELY worked at getting rid of my Oklahoma country accent so I'm not attached to that aspect of her first few albums. I've been listening to the OGs all week and I think that watching the Eras Tour every weekend for almost 2 years makes me prefer her current voice.
