It’s interesting that Lover sounds sadder on the piano and we know Joe loves the sad songs. I think the performance was brilliant — I couldn’t help but notice it was a soft performance, almost timidly acknowledging him as her Lover. I think someday we will get another wedding type song but I expect it’ll be more confident in the lyrics and subsequently performances of it. Instead of asking questions I expect she’ll shout loudly about her Love, and the song will reflect someone who feels like more than “a lover”. My problem with Lover as a true love song was always that it was about a “Lover” so it did feel like more like a song about a boyfriend you were spending time with and less like a true love in a committed forever kind of way. I really liked your suggestion that perhaps it was her thinking life was heading towards being out of the spotlight that made her and Joe’s future seem like a good match.

I just came to say that Taylor probably chose to do False God because of the saxophone player who is an SNL icon. She wanted to showcase him and gave him a longer solo.

I actually love the outfit for false god. She looks so cool. But yes its quite different for her, and yes it is kind of weird seeing her walking around on such a small stage haha
