Ready for it? on a black background and when I saw it I immediately thought of the Rep Tour. I have to agree with what yall were saying about Taylor and her writing alll her own music and having such a close connection to those lyrics. She has honestly captivated me with her writing abilities. I know there are plenty of great artists out there and I dont discredit their work. BUT there is just something so special and meaniningful (especially as a fan for YEARS) about her writing all her own stuff. It (to me) means so much more and I connect so much more with her work then a lot of other artitsts. I have been listening to evermore SO MUCH lately. Its just a complete materpiece. I had a similar reaction to the "Joe" songs at first, but the more time goes on, the more I love to think about what those songs mean to Taylor now. Especially as she's performing them, re-recording them, and mashing them up... as I grow and change, songs change meaning for me so I don't see why they wouldn't change for Taylor, too. "Call It What You Want" could make her think about her relationship with Travis now... all the haters saying it's a "PR" relationship or whatever they want to say... call it what you want, she's HAPPY and nothing else matters. Also I just need to say while I LOVE CIWYW I’ve always found something weird in the lyrics and idk if this is me but this lyric “Cause my baby's fit like a daydream Walkin' with his head down, I'm the one he's walkin' to” I always want to sing walking with his head up. Like to me walking with your head down makes me feel like “oh I don’t want to be seen” or “oh I’m embarrassed” So although I love the song that always annoyed me like no get you a man that no matter who’s looking who’s talking he will walk towards you with his head high because he is proud of you and being with you. I think this love and call it what you want is so good and sad because all the rumors of them (her and Joe) breaking up and getting back together so it makes sense “this love came back to me” and “this love is good this love is bad”. Of course it was good when it was good and heartbreaking when it was bad. But because she was always so protective of him she would say “call it what you want my baby is …” I can see why she would put them together if that was the case and the rumors were true. Personally this love and ciwyw are two of my favorite songs and they sound so beautiful together. I agree with Bonny I was waiting for her to say I want to wear his number on my chain not because he owns me but because he knows me 😍 I mean she’s already worn his number on her clothes and jewelry so sis isn’t far off 🤪😜🫶🏼

My interpretation of the second mashup: People online have been giving Travis a hard time for not going to Singapore. One day he is heralded as the "best boyfriend" for going to Australia and the next day, how dare he not stay for the whole time in Australia and support her. what I said, rather gently I think, is that the mashups weren't really dissected because the conversation got stuck on how they were originally inspired by what she felt with an ex, and that's the result of continually referring to songs as "person x's song". meanwhile taylor communicated a whole story across the four songs through the lyrics she did chose to include and mashup. I love bonny and emily and think understanding how taylor originally wrote the songs is only natural and fun, but we're losing out on a set that taylor herself has said she wants to be "as creative as possible" when we're only focused on how they're "person x's song". also I've been obsessed with this woman for well over a decade

Literally agree so much that Taylor is the only artist that could be doing these mash ups at her shows with her songs as she is the writer and has musical elements in a lot of them before production has ever been addressed, but I would say that Lana can mash up her own songs very well, as she hints a lot of the same references and even combines songs such as Taco Truck x VB but literally I can’t think of another artist like these two women and it’s because they are so true in their art, but I don’t think Lana could preform a mash up the way Taylor does she just had that glow on stage and knows exactly what to do for every crowd and show and these songs are superior I just can’t with her choices. So the first time she sang CIWYW y’all kinda blocked it out cuz she did Ivy with Aaron first and then I Miss You I’m Sorry with Gracie. So that was a night where she did 3 songs and was also racing about an impending torrential downpour which is also I think why she rushed through it. It was Cinci Night 2 which I know we didn’t talk about because y’all didn’t get Ivy yet but now that you have maybe it’ll make your re fathoming better. I only remember because I was Tay gating that night and remember how crazy it was and also how immediately after show end the sky opened and we got really scary thunder storms like immediately. We know she loves a rain show but I’m definitely glad she was some by the show by then cuz it wouldn’t have been safe.

I realise you don't intend to be reductive of taylor when you refer to a song as a "joe song" or a "john mayer" song, but I think that habit of referring to the original inspiration spills over and there's unfortunately a little bit of a disservice to taylor's craft as a story teller. foolish one is not a "john mayer" song but a song taylor wrote about a feeling. I feel like she really told a story with these mashups but that kind of got lost with the focus staying on why she didn't sing the lyrics that make it a "joe song"

Okay, so a theory on why CIWYW became so deeply connected with Joe in your head: this is the song she played on guitar during Miss Americana, and during that song, Taylor explains about her private relationship with Joe, and there are footages of them. That entire montage was one of the highlight of the documentary for me, and it must've been attached in our head that we've made the connection without even realizing the cause

Seeing Harry styles live, I personally felt that the signs thing he did wasn’t as authentic as I’d hoped. It all felt very planned and I felt like he only acknowledged, if he acknowledged the audience at all, the people in the front. my interpretation of the CIWYW/ This Love mashup was that maybe by “this love” she is reinterpreting it to not mean a love with a specific person coming back to her, but just the pure emotion of being in love again coming back to her. Guys go through the songs. She is mashing them up based on words in the songs, but I totally agree with Bonnie that the new song mashed up may have new meaning. But, each mashed up song she is using WORDS. that is why August was in there. She had to have planned it, to make the words go together with those 3 songs. It doesn’t work without August. It’s the word association that she is doing. She didn’t just throw TOSOTD on at the end for chaos, it combines the words from GC and August. It doesn’t work without TOSOTD. I really like the theory of "August" being thrown in after "Get Away Car" being an Easter egg for "Rep" coming out in August. She's on break there, and whenever she has had a re-record (or new album) come out, it's while the tour is on break. She could announce it in August in London at the last show similar to "1989" and Los Angeles. Both those cities are pretty important to her so maybe?? I think that also gives "TTPD" ample time to have it's own thing. Maybe she originally was going to do "Rep" announcement in Februrary but switched "TTPD" and "Rep".
