Hopper sold Jane (Brenners science experiment) to the military in season one. When I hear him say he will kill Kali if she does anything he doesn't like, it just proves that he has in fact not grown over the last few seasons because he's still OK ending a young woman trying to save the world if it will somehow hurt his feelings. It's always about him. Kali is trying to literally save the world the only way it will work no matter how much she has to sacrifice of herself and yet Hoppers motives are only about how it will make him feel. Season 5 Hopper is a giant man baby, he seemed to have some growth in 4 but after that suicide bomb stunt I would of relegated him to grunt that stands and waits until someone tells him the right thing to do. Season 5 Hoppers character is just a cluster of all Hoppers worst tropes and none of the growth he did in Russia.
