"You sure about this?"
Piper rolled her eyes. The concern probably should have been touching, but she couldn't help thinking about how her friend, Jenna, had told her that Hector had confessed he had a crush on Piper, and that was why he'd stuck around so long, despite how temperamental she could be. "No way," Piper had protested. "He's still here because we're raking in the views... He knows the channel is going to explode any day now, and he thinks I'll start paying him more when that happens."
"Whatever you say," Jenna had shrugged. "That's just what he said to me."
Ever since then, however, Piper had been keeping a closer eye on Hector, analyzing everything he said, everything he did, and there was definitely a part of her that wondered if Jenna was right after all, along with another part that pondered about if a storyline like that could be what helped push her channel over the edge into viral popularity. Doing that, though, would mean making Hector a character, maybe even letting him show his face, sharing the spotlight with him... And she wasn't interested in any of that. It was her channel, and she was the one in control of it; she wasn't going to give any of that up if she didn't have to.
"Nothing is going to happen," she assured him. "You've heard the interviews we've been getting..." The stories she'd been told by the people here were absolutely ridiculous, almost enough so that she wanted to pack up and go home early. They did seem to actually believe them, however, making her suspect it might be some kind of mass, shared hallucination, or something along those lines... If nothing else, the fact that there was a house connected to it all gave her something concrete to investigate, to show that there was nothing there so she could debunk the whole thing in her video.
"Still," he said. "It's an empty house in the middle of the woods. I'm sure it won't be a witch, but you never know who might have moved in..."
"It'll be creepier if I film it myself," she sniffed. "And I don't want to have to worry about accidentally catching you in a shot."
It was interesting that all the stories she'd heard gave her the same instructions to the house, even if that didn't really prove anything other than the location was part of the local folklore. She wasn't confident there'd be anything there at all, that the directions would lead her anywhere, but since she was documenting the whole trip, that meant she could show she followed them, that it was only a legend.
Somewhat surprisingly, there was, indeed, a house at the end of the journey, old and run-down, with no sign from the outside of anyone occupying it. "All right," she admitted to the camera, "I guess I was wrong. There is something here. It isn't a witch, though, I can promise you that."
Hector's warnings flashed through her mind as she approached, feeling annoyed at herself - and him for making her think this way - as she debated whether it would be worth it to barge in and hope that it was as empty as it appeared. She was already here, however, and if her viewers saw the footage of the outside of the house and nothing inside, all her comments would be about how she'd failed to properly investigate, how there was definitely some kind of 'proof' in there and she'd been too chicken to find it, begging her to go back...
"Hello?" she called out, shivering at the silence that answered her. Even the sounds of the forest seemed to have vanished once she stepped into the small clearing the house sat in. "Is there anyone in there?"
Nothing. She took a deep breath, telling herself that was a good sign, that she wasn't going to find a meth lab or anything in there, and walked over to the door, giving the door knob a twist. It turned, the door swinging open easily, letting her step inside, discovering a cozy home. There was nothing spooky about it in the slightest, but considering how clean everything was, there definitely had to be someone living here.
What was she going to do now? Of all the things she could have found, this might be the most anticlimactic, even more than nothing. It wasn't a particularly interesting pay-off, in her opinion, wasn't going to scare anyone... Someone just lived out here, off the grid, and appeared to have a nice life for themselves. Or they used it for hunting, or vacations, though if they weren't there all the time, she was surprised they didn't have any kind of lock on the front door.
She could have waited around until they returned from wherever they were, but that might not happen for quite some time, especially if they didn't live here all the time. And if they did, it really might be better to have Hector there with her, just in case. Until then, however, as she peered around, she spotted an old fashioned broom leaning against the wall, and couldn't help herself.
She grabbed it, taking it outside with her, deciding it would look creepier there than in the house. She might even cut all the footage of the house... She could always make it seem more dramatic and paranormal by claiming that part of the video had gotten corrupted, depending on where she decided to take the rest of the video. She could do a couple takes with the broom and use whichever worked.
Setting the camera up on an old log, she stepped in front of it, holding up the broom. "Check out what I found, guys," she said, a little more casually. "What do you think? It looks like it could be a witch's broom to me!" She paused, started again, letting herself sound more scared. "That place was pretty creepy, guys. And look at what was in there! Maybe there's something to these stories after all!" Those probably covered her bases, yet she couldn't resist one more, treating it more playfully.
"Well, this is a witch's broom if I ever saw one," she declared. "Here, I'll tell you what... If it starts to fly, I'll believe all this was real." She stepped over it with a smirk, straddling it. "Let's see..."
She glanced down to check that she wasn't, in fact, starting to levitate... And, to her shock, saw something even more disturbing. The broom was starting to vanish, from the bristles up... Worse than that, however, her tight jeans had also vanished, and her panties had either done the same and been replaced, or had transformed into a bulky, plastic diaper, taped snugly around her bottom.
"H-Hey!" her eyes widened, flashing over to her camera, letting go of the broom as it finished disappearing to tug at the hem of her shirt, trying to hide the infantile garment that she was now wearing, somehow.
"It's all right," an unfamiliar voice told her, making her flinch, realizing she wasn't alone, that somebody else was going to see her in this humiliating outfit, if they hadn't already. "Babies don't understand that not everything is theirs to play with as they please... That was definitely not a toy for infants, though. If you want to come inside, I'm sure I could find you a nice dolly, or a rattle, or..."
"I'm not a baby!" Piper protested.
"Oh, you aren't?" Piper gasped as the voice was suddenly right behind her, a hand closing over her shoulder. She started to spin, only to feel herself begin to grow stiff, the world around her seeming to get exponentially larger as she saw the woman who had spoken to her, the broom in her hand. She was much younger than Piper would have expected, no older than Piper herself, if even that, and very pretty. She wasn't at all what Piper would have anticipated a witch being, but, as Piper continued to shrink, flesh hardening, she had zero doubt that was, indeed, what she was dealing with after all, far too late for her to do anything about it.
"So sorry, dear," the witch chuckled, bending down and picking Piper up, having no problem doing so with a single hand. "If you aren't a baby, there's no excuse for you running around taking what isn't yours. Not everything is a toy... But now you are."
Piper let out a groan, though it was hard for her to tell if it was audible, or merely trapped in her brain. It seemed like it must have been the latter, however, as she struggled to move her mouth, mind spinning as it refused, as it seemed to have been fused into one piece of plastic along with the rest of her head.
She wished she'd listened to those stories she'd been told now... They were all so absurd, like something out of a cartoon, people getting changed into all kinds of things; there was no way they could have been real, she'd told herself. And now here she was, shrunken, turned into plastic, a doll.
"You are cute like this," the witch mused, "but I think we can do better. Who wants to play with a boring regular girl who runs around and breaks into other peoples' houses?" She laid Piper down on her table, walking away for a moment. Piper concentrated as hard as she could, trying to escape, and, to her surprise, she thought she could feel her hand begin to move in response... And then the witch returned, sitting down and starting to undress her, putting her into a new, tiny outfit with lots of shiny black and purple, painting her face delicately with new makeup.
"There," she nodded. "That's better... Clearly, you're meant to be a villain. Who else would do what you did?" The witch picked Piper up, carefully twisting and turning her joints, adjusting her feet so that she could stand up in a fighting stance on the table.
Around her, the witch placed other action figures, generic superheroes that Piper couldn't help wonder if they'd once been people, too, or if, like her, they still were, trapped as toys. She tried to gulp as they began to move, advancing awkwardly towards her, like a stop-motion movie come to life, while frantically, she attempted to recreate the movement she'd managed earlier.
"Come on," the witch urged. "You're not going to go down without a fight, are you? That would be awfully boring... I might have to stash you away in the bottom of my toy chest forever if that's all you can do."
Piper watched in a panic as a plastic punch began to descend on her from a scantily clad superheroine, and, without thinking, she moved her arm to block it, shocked to discover that it had worked... At least for now. It felt like she was struggling through mud as she did anything, but she could do it...
Just not well enough to matter. There were too many other action figures, and they were too much better at it than her. In no time, she found herself captured, their hand clamped around her wrist. She twisted her hip in an attempt to yank it off, knowing her hands would be useless, her fingers having fused together into two masses of plastic that she'd have no hope of jamming beneath theirs, but it did her no good.
To her shock, she found herself being pulled over the superhero's lap, bent in half, her padded bottom sticking straight out. Wait... Were they going to...?! In a moment, she had her answer, as the hero's hand landed firmly on her backside, and, despite both of them being toys, despite the bulk of the diaper, she felt true pain blossoming within her brain, the same she would have expected from an actual spanking.
"Ow!" she squealed, again unsure if it she'd truly spoken or not. "Stop it!"
If the other dolls heard her, they showed no sign of it, the first hero spanking her, then passing her off to the next, and the next, a seemingly endless stream of punishment. Had she been in her human body, she was certain it would have been badly bruised, or blistered, by it all, but the plastic showed no sign of it, no matter how vividly she could feel it all.
"Well, then?" the witch asked when they were all done, leaving Piper sitting on the table, legs splayed wide. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
"I-It's not my fault!" she 'said', staring up at the woman, having a feeling that, whether she was actually making any noise, the witch knew what she was saying. "I-I was only doing what I had to to make my viewers happy!"
"Aww," the witch shook her head. "Poor thing. You can't help it, can you?"
"N-No," Piper sniffed, a wave of relief washing over her as she felt her jaw moving this time, the witch, and the action figures around her on the table, appearing to grow slightly smaller. The plastic encasing her was definitely growing softer, too, giving her hope that the woman had bought her story, was taking mercy on her.
Until, of course, she took a look at herself, and realized she wasn't becoming human again, that the plastic wasn't changing back into flesh... It was turning to felt. "What is this?!" she demanded, aghast.
"You poor thing," the witch repeated. "Always being manipulated by everyone else, doing what they want you to do... You're practically just a puppet, aren't you?"
"N-No!" Piper protested.
"Oh, you aren't?" the witch smirked. "So, you take full responsibility, then?"
Piper shifted on the table, groaning as she heard the diaper crinkling beneath her, still there through it all. If she said yes, what else would the witch do to her? Would it be worse than this?! Did she really want to find out? "N-No?"
"I didn't think so," the witch told her. "In that case, I think this form suits you quite well."
"No, it doesn't!" Piper protested, but it was already too late.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It could have been worse, Piper supposed. She had gotten her wish, anyway...She was much bigger than she had been as an action figure, could move more easily and freely. She was far smaller than she had been, of course, barely taller than the toddler she was constantly dressed as, but it was an improvement over the first transformation.
She had been surprised to find herself suddenly out of the witch's cabin, back in her motel room, and even more surprised that her camera was there with her. Hector, obviously, had been shocked to discover her like that the next morning, though once she'd had him watch the video, he'd understood it all. Apparently, the witch had brought the camera in with her, used it to record everything she'd done to Piper, and, despite how mortifying it was to see herself those ways, Piper had insisted Hector post it.
"We'll be famous!" she told him. "This is proof that magic exists!"
Instead, everyone just commented about how impressive the CGI was, or complained about how silly the storyline was. "If you wanted to replace Piper, that's fine, she was always annoying," was a common refrain. "But you could have done it without all this."
It didn't matter what Piper did to try to convince them it was still her, everyone assumed she was nothing more than a puppet being operated by Hector, and his attempts to tell the truth simply came off as him playing into it. Frustratingly, views and subscribers began to grow, everyone seeming to enjoy the gimmick of a 'puppet' hosting a paranormal investigation show more than they'd ever liked seeing Piper as herself... And Hector was getting credit for all of it.
It was hard to decide if that was worse, or the outfits Hector dressed her in. "It's all that fits you!" he claimed as he put her into diapers and baby clothes. "Besides, the viewers think it's cute. And they're always so impressed when you wet them."
"You could have something else made!" she insisted, ignoring the infuriating fact that, despite not being a human, the witch had made it so she still had accidents, still used her diapers, an extra humiliation for her, especially when her viewers assumed it was some kind of special effect, and loved to point it out and speculate on how it was done, almost more interested in that at times than what she had to say. "We're making enough off the channel now you could afford it!" But he never did, and it wasn't like she could go anywhere without him, or someone else passers-by could assume was controlling her, not if she didn't want to be mistaken for some super-advanced toy and stolen.
Sometimes, she wondered if Jenna had told him about her reaction to being told about his crush, and it was revenge, and other times, she wondered if it was simply him who found her cute in diapers. Either way, if he wanted her to wear them, to film her in them, to let the world see her in them, there was nothing she could do about it, or anything else. She was just a puppet now, after all, and as far as anyone was concerned, Hector was her puppeteer, in complete control until, hopefully, one day, she could talk him into returning to that forest and taking her to visit the witch's cabin so she could apologize.

The puppet one kind of scares me.
