Shooting Star
🕑 Added 2023-07-12 12:00:03 +0000 UTCA quick little summer one-off short story, commissioned by an anonymous Patron.
Lexie had known Tanya was right, even if her roommate had been joking when she'd said it. Concerts were great and all, and Lexie still loved them, but the one thing she always hated was this part... Well, and trying to leave afterwards, though she hadn't gotten there yet.
"Ugh," Lexie groaned, rocking back on the heels of her sneakers, grateful she hadn't gotten too dressed up, had talked herself out of the heels she'd really wanted to wear. She was pretty certain she'd been standing in this line longer than she'd waited to get inside, or to get to her seat, and the fact that night had fallen since hadn't made it any easier. The slightly cooler temperature that came with the sun going down was negated by the crush of people around her, and, as boiling hot as the day had been, she'd have needed a much bigger drop for it to be comfortable anyway.
She squirmed, feeling hot, sticky, tired... She was wearing cuffed denim shorts and a crop top, as little as she'd been willing to, and she was already starting to wonder if she'd have to burn them when she got home, if washing them wouldn't be enough to dispel the funk she thought had to be soaking into them from her. And it, somehow, didn't seem like she was any closer to the end of the line, to the bathroom.
And it wasn't even a bathroom, really! That made it all the worse. Porta Potties were gross to begin with, and by the time she got to her turn... She shuddered to imagine it. If she hadn't drank so much, to the point where she was sure her bladder would explode before she could get out of the parking lot, much less to a place with a bathroom, or back home, she'd hold it, but she was definitely beyond that now.
Pouting, she threw her head back with a dramatic sigh, staring up into the summer night sky, shocked at how many stars she could see, with all the lights blazing around her... And even more surprised that, at just that moment, she saw a shooting star, blazing across the sky.
"Wow," she said, amazed at that fortuitous timing. She'd only ever seen that once before, when her parents had taken her out into the country to watch a meteor shower when she was a little kid, and it had been so late that she wasn't certain she'd actually done it then, or if she'd fallen asleep and merely dreamed it. This was absolutely real, however, and totally random, making it feel all the more special.
She didn't believe in wishes, of course; she was an adult, old enough to be here at this concert alone, to have legally bought the alcohol that had her tipsy enough to entertain the notion, and to think back to what Tanya had told her when she was getting ready, to say it, rather than to ask for more bathrooms, or for the line to disappear.
"I wish I wore diapers," she mumbled, "instead of these stupid panties."
As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she could feel something happening. She frowned, fidgeted, brow furrowing in confusion as her thighs began to be pushed outwards, as she heard a crackling, like a plastic bag being crumpled. She didn't make the connection, not at first - why would she have? - until the expansion continued, her shorts feeling tight, as if she were getting suddenly bloated for some reason, to the point that she was afraid the button was going to pop.
Was she having an allergic reaction?! It didn't feel like it, and the swelling didn't seem to be happening anywhere else, but she looked down in a panic, hand running over her exposed midriff, down towards her crotch, rubbing across exposed plastic and elastic first, and then a thick layer of padding stuffed beneath her now bulging shorts.
"Oh, my God," she gasped, cheeks burning in humiliation, in shock, in fear. She craned her neck back again, only to see the shooting star was already gone. "No, I didn't mean it!" she insisted, stomping her foot in frustration, blush deepening as it crinkled, as the motion made it rub against her privates.
It... She peered back down at herself, nose wrinkling, confirming that it was, indeed, what she thought, that it couldn't be anything else. She tried to pull her shorts up, tug her shirt down, but there was no hiding it, once she knew what it was, no disguising the fact that she was wearing a diaper after all, just like Tanya had said she should.
Just like she'd wished for.
Mortified, she stumbled out of the line, walking in the opposite direction of the Porta Potties, surprised at how much the extra padding was affecting her gait, making her waddle, which she knew was only going to make it more obvious what she had under her shorts.
And it was already plenty obvious. "Aww, what's wrong?" a woman she passed, much drunker than her, teased. "Didn't make it on time?"
"No!" she squealed, then realized how that sounded. "N-No, I'm dry!" she clarified. "I-I don't... I-I'm not..."
Flustered, she left it at that, turning and hurrying away. Her bladder was still very full, and she knew this wasn't going to help, but she had to stop to get another drink after what had happened, couldn't help herself.
The bartender took one look at her, shook his head. "I don't think so."
"No, I'm a grown up!" she whined, digging into her purse. "I've been getting served all night! I have my license in here somewhere..."
The bartender sighed. "Listen, kid," he told her, "do us both a favor and don't show me your fake ID, or I'll have to confiscate it, and I'm sure you had to babysit for months to afford it in the first place. Anyone whose Mommy and Daddy didn't trust them to leave the house without diapers isn't big enough for alcohol."
She definitely didn't feel like she was, after that. She slunk back to her seat, feeling no larger than a toddler, slumping down with a crinkle, hoping that would at least mostly hide her diaper. It worked fairly well... Until her bladder couldn't take anymore, and, reluctantly, she let go, feeling the wetness soaking into her bulky padding, spreading throughout, making it so warm, so squishy.
She sniffled, poking at her crotch, head swimming with embarrassment. At the very least, though, she told herself, searching for whatever small comfort she could find, she hadn't had to use the Porta Potty...
That had only been the beginning, however. By the time the concert was over, her diaper had turned cool and clammy, and trudging out to her car had been a true walk of shame, and that was before she'd had to sit and wait in her car for what felt like hours, waiting to be able to get out of the parking lot.
By then, most places she passed seemed to be either closed, or too busy for her to risk walking into. For a while, she was convinced she'd have to go all the way back home in her wet diaper, but, thankfully, she eventually found a gas station with only a couple cars outside, and, blessedly, bathroom entrances on the outside of the building. Better yet, they were unlocked, saving her a trip inside to ask for a key, something she wasn't sure she could handle tonight.
The diaper was a light purple, not a terrible color, all things considered. At the front of it, where the tapes were snugly fastened, there was a design of a moon, fast asleep in a sea of extremely soft looking clouds, an old-fashioned sleeping cap on its head. There weren't many of them left, but she could see the remnants of a few stars on the padding itself, mostly faded away in the discoloration that had come from her use of it.
It wasn't any diaper she'd seen before, though it wouldn't have looked out of place on an infant... Or, perhaps, a slightly older child who needed them for bedwetting. Neither one, of course, applied to her; after the night she'd had, she felt as if they did.
She ripped open the tapes, threw the thing away, cleaning herself up as best she could before pulling her shorts back up, hoping the bulk of the diaper hadn't stretched them out so much that they wouldn't stay up without it. It didn't seem like they had as she pulled up the zipper, started to fumble with the button. It was hard to tell if Tanya would be awake or not, but it would be better to go back to the apartment like this, with nothing on beneath her shorts, rather than trying, in vain, to hide a diaper.
As soon as the button made it through the buttonhole, she had a completely different, and worse, problem. Before her eyes, the denim began to shimmer, to shift, bulging outwards as the fabric appeared to melt, turning smooth and plastic, tapes forming in the place of the zipper and button, tightly wrapped around her hips, while stars and a slumbering moon printed themselves onto the diaper that she was now wearing in the place of her shorts, with nothing at all to put over it. And, if anything, this one was even thicker than the last, forcing her thighs further apart
"This can't be happening," she told herself, shaking her head, staring at her reflection in the mirror. "No!"
She couldn't exactly walk out in only her crop top, so, unfortunately, she had to waddle back to her car in that and her diaper, looking, and feeling, like a toddler. She drove very carefully the rest of the way home, horrified at the thought of being pulled over, of a cop seeing her this way. She got very lucky on her way to her apartment, not running into anyone...
Her luck ran out, however, once she'd opened up the front door, and found Tanya in the living room, watching TV. "How was the...?" she started to ask, turning her head, snickering at the sight of her roommate. "I guess you took my advice."
Lexie forced a smile. "Y-Yeah," she said. "F-Funny, right?"
It was much harder to play it off as a joke when she got back to her room, yanking open the top drawer of her dresser, discovering, to her horror, that every single pair of her panties were gone, replaced by more of the same diapers she was wearing, all folded up, waiting for her. She gasped, stumbling backwards, the back of her knees hitting her bed, making her sit down with a stunned crinkle.
She wanted to believe this was some sort of prank, that Tanya had arranged it somehow... But her panties had transformed at the concert, and her shorts at the gas station, and there was no way her roomie could have made that happen. Those stars decorating the crotch, seemingly just waiting to be erased by her using the padding, by her peeing her pants again, reminded her of what had actually caused it.
"That's not what I meant!" she informed the night sky outside her window grumpily. If she'd truly meant it to be a wish, she might have phrased it that she'd wished she'd worn one for the concert... But that wasn't what she'd said.
She took off the diaper she was wearing, of course, the tapes refusing to leave the landing strip without ripping away a bit of the plastic underneath, ensuring they couldn't be re-fastened. She tossed it into her trash can, planning to go get a trash bag from under the kitchen sink in the morning to dump the rest into, then pulled on a nightshirt to sleep in.
As soon as she let go of it, it began to change, just like her shorts had, slithering down her body, rearranging itself around her crotch, forming itself into a diaper, this one definitely bulkier than the one she'd taken off a few moments before. She didn't have the courage to try again, reluctantly staying in it as she tried another nightshirt, this one staying put.
Her courage hadn't returned by the next morning, either, when she got dressed to go out and buy herself some new underwear. She ripped off her diaper to use the bathroom, then put a new one on, unhappy to find it was as thick as the one she'd taken off. As long as she had the diaper on, her other clothes seemed safe... It was just when she tried to wear them without anything that it appeared, as far as she could tell.
Which meant she had a bad feeling about what would happen when she put on a pair of panties, but she had to try, had to do something. Sure enough, however, when she got home and pulled the fresh pair on, it turned into a diaper, bigger than ever, the pairs in her drawer expanding with it, a punishment, apparently, for trying to get around her wish.
There was one more thing she could try... She was a bit embarrassed it had even occurred to her, though it was undeniably better than the alternative. She went back to the store, and bought herself a pack of Pull-Ups. They were basically diapers, she reasoned, but definitely thinner than these things...
And yet, as soon as she put them on, they transformed as well. Even Pull-Ups, it seemed, were too mature for her... Like it or not, she was going to be wearing diapers from now on.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
She'd never have remembered exactly what day it was, had the picture she'd taken of her view of the stage as soon as she'd made it to her seat not popped up in her timeline.
One year ago, she thought, staring at it. On one hand, it felt like yesterday... On another, it seemed like it should have been much longer than that, for how much things had changed. She wiggled in her seat at work, diaper crinkling beneath her dress, soggy as usual. She couldn't recall, exactly, when that had happened... But that was normal now, too.
She'd started out trying to keep using the toilet like an adult... That proved difficult, however, when it was impossible to remove the tapes without ripping the plastic, and when, no matter how loose she tried to tape the diaper, they were always, somehow, too tight for her to wiggle down her hips without undoing the tapes. She had to carry changes with her anyway to accommodate for that, since she couldn't just put on her clothes without any underthings, for fear of being stuck out at the store, or at work, in just a diaper, or a diaper and shirt, and making all of the subsequent diapers she wore that much thicker and harder to hide... Not to mention getting them off was such a nuisance in the first place...
At first, she'd only do it every now and then, when she was busy, staying at her desk and letting go, blushing as she felt the padding underneath her soak it up. It really was convenient, though, and they were so big, they could hold multiple wettings before she had to think about changing. It wasn't long before she stopped bothering with the toilet for peeing at all, resolving to use it only to poop.
And then, one day, she didn't make it in time, filling her pants on the way to the bathroom. It had been embarrassing, certainly... Yet not nearly as awful as she'd expected. Was that because she was so used to sitting in wet diapers by then? Or were the diapers themselves influencing her somehow? It was hard to tell for sure... She suspected it was more of the former, but the latter made her feel a little better about it, so that was what she told herself as, slowly, she began to use her diapers more and more.
Now, staring at that memory on her phone, fidgeting, she tried to think back, to remember the last time she'd sat on a toilet. It had to have been months ago by now... Did she have any potty training left whatsoever? She blushed, knowing the answer when it came to her bladder, knowing that she never had any warning anymore, that she couldn't have held it if she wanted to. In all honesty, her bowels weren't in much better shape, probably. Maybe she could slow their release, if she tried, perhaps long enough for her to make it to a bathroom... Could she do it long enough for her to get her diaper off afterwards, however, for her to sit on the toilet?
Perhaps she should give that a try, just to see... Or, more likely, she'd do what she'd done for the past few months, at least, giving a push as soon as she noticed any pressure, let her pants fill with the warm, squishy mush. After all, her wish had come true, and she wore diapers now anyway... It was probably best not to think too much about how much she actually needed them, about how much of her potty training had been thoroughly undone in the process, very likely never to return... Unless, of course, she was lucky enough to see another shooting star.

Hey you should consider continuing this one

You really shouldn't make wishes all willy nilly. She's lucky people didn't start treating her like a child and checking or changing her diaper or keeping her from even using the potty from the beginning. Wishes always takes a life of their own.
