Valderan

Not fools though. Their conclusions are reasonable and probably the most likely. Amber and Carlos setting up shop would actually be a worse case scenario than the one they thought up though. It would tame the wilds utterly even if it would allow for the construction of a new border town where they could set up at with better short term mana flow... And possibly cushy contracts to help push back the wilds.

Rohan Behl

Ahh yes, my old friend, jumping to conclusions

Connor Mcharg

To be fair, they aren't leaving many clues to what they're actually doing, and who'd expect a couple of Nobles to take command of a town without letting everybody know?

Anthony Gerald Miller

Speaking of improving the flavour (spelled flavor where I live, excuse us colonials) this is the most delicious fantasy I've read in a while. Reminds me of Never No More, a novel (not fantasy) set in Ireland, which made me want to have some Irish food, immediately.

Tim Judge

Neandertim is enjoying the development of the story. the increased depth of background is improving the flavour. Immendly.

George

It's like they say, "keep your friends close, and your enemies in your adventuring party."

Person

I'm kinda hoping they assemble a party composed entirely of agents paid to spy in them. Of course they already have a solid front line and a pair of glass cannons. They could use a sneaky guide, a healer... a ranger and a cleric seems about right in d&d speak.

I don't only read stories with a singular thread, but i do prefer it that way. I want to discover the world through the protagonist eyes, or at least mostly through their eyes. Alternative POVs should move the story forward, not just describe the same scene over and over again. There shouldn't have been two alternative POVs to them eating lunch at least. One of them should have been about them doing something else after lunch. Edit: To clarify I liked these chapters, I just hope the story starts moving again and wanted to express my wish for alternative POVs to be rare unless they are also moving the plot along.

Bonester

Lol so many complaints. Do people here only read stories that have one singular thread throughout the whole story? This is just basic storytelling.

Colt Parris

He was going to have to introduce the antagonist soon otherwise it was going to turn into a power fantasy. I'll take a chapter of stagnation so long as there is promise of real conflict.

Marian Ch

I expect Carlos to be an airhead unused to how the reality of this realm works, but Amber should probably know better. I hope they stop wasting time and start working on developing some defenses cause right now they're like chickens ready to be plucked, guards or not.

ReadingObsessed

It's hard for a weekly story to take a sidebar like this to develop alternative perspectives. By focusing on a divergent area without showing how it would tie in then readers feel like it's not moving.

Douglas Miller

To be fair to the nobles, usually they try to do it sustainably. That's in large part because usually it's in their own domain that they own, so they'll be the greatest future beneficiaries of their present restraint, though.

good guy

Story is stagnating

Beeees!

I guess nobles are all about stripping the land of its natural resources and leaving the locals all the worse off. But I guess that's nothing new haha

MindWright

Ah, the most popular exercise program in Dramos. Jumping to conclusions.

ShadeByTheSea

Well i do find these POVs interesting I hope we start focusing on Carlos again and actually progressing the story instead of digressing/stagnating.

Brandon C
