Update 1.22 - Crystal Creations Patch Fix - March 2, 2024
Made it so no specific packs are required for interaction to appear on Sims.
Find Collectibles is a self-click and no longer a cheat and will not appear on Sims other than the currently played one.
Update 1.21 - Improved Collectible Detection
Forgot to include dirt piles from Cats and Dogs, and snow globe boxes + posters from City Living. This is fixed in the update.
Update 1.2 - Find Collectibles + Seasons Bugfix
This update is something I'm proud of and going to take advantage of myself. It includes a new Find Collectibles ability you can use with testingcheats and a shift click on your Sim. This will make the Sim run about the area finding collectibles automatically, up to 9 or so. You can run it again and see if there are more to be found. The cool part is how optimized it is, as they always go to the closest one from where they are.
I failed to put an in_season check on plants in v1.0 so I've fixed that, which means some players will find plants out of season that can't be harvested. Look for my Seasons Tuner if you'd like to disable Seasons.
Update 1.1 - Better Insects and Broader Options
The game limited the maximum amount of collectibles to 25, but plants count toward this cap. This meant that you would bump up against the cap and NO FURTHER objects could spawn. This meant the insects scheduled to appear at various times in Outdoor Retreat could not spawn unless you collected objects, and then would be limited to how many are left after plants and other objects coming back in. I increased this cap in this build, and collecting is MUCH more lively but not unbalanced. It's a great change so I want everyone to get to experience it.
This mod seeks to alleviate this huge problem with the Collecting system in The Sims 4. What it does is make all plants instantly grow to blossoming (the stage where fruit spawns) they are first created by the game. This means that when you visit a new area the plants will be ripe for the picking. When you revisit a lot, if it's been at least 24h, the wild plants will be sure to spawn their fruit as well.
In addition, with the mod installed Collectibles spawn instantly when the zone loads and only take a single minute to get going. This means when you visit a lot you can scan for collectibles right away, pick up your loot, and head to another area to repeat the process. This is a much smoother experience IMO and is something many players will want. This is why I made it a stand-alone mod that you can put in your mods folder and forget. It should be fairly future proof based on how I've designed it.
Collectibles in Outdoor Retreat are further improved, as insects can have a 50/50 spawn chance. This means they may be ready to spawn, but fail to. Insects already have a check that makes them difficult to collect, so cutting down spawn chance doesn't help. It just leaves you frustrated scanning the forest for bugs and hardly playing the game. With the mod, insects will always spawn if they are able.
Thanks you for your support. It allows me to spend a lot of time making Sims 4 mods that I could not otherwise, and this was a suggestion from a Patron. I want you to know that I do read your ideas and want to approach those that are sorely needed.
Compatibility: Should be compatible with nearly all mods, as it tries to be friendly and uses no game tunings. Just don't use if some mod does the same thing.
Instructions: Download and extract the zip file to your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods folder.
Ensure Script Mods are turned on in Game Options > Other. If you have trouble with the download or the mod working, attempt using save as on the files as some browsers treat ts4script files incorrectly.

Hey Carl, just needed to alert you that after a lot of 50/50 testing, this mod clashes with the "Sim's National Bank" mod. I am unsure of what mod goes wrong here, but I thought I'd just bring it to your attention.

Special mushroom patches in Bramblewood aren't being picked up by this. Also, we've got routing issues in Senbamachi for the stuff at the top of the rock climbing wall. The fact that I'm able to report this at all means the mod is otherwise working great. I don't know if there's anything you can do about either issue, but I do thank you for getting this much done. Also, I didn't even know there WAS a rock climbing wall in Senbamachi until I had a route fail at the bottom of it while my sim was trying to get there, so kudos for making me see something I never saw. On the topic of Senbamachi, though, the mod autonomously goes to collect the spirits, and that's not necessarily a good thing. I personally wouldn't change this behavior, but for others who are running it in the areas of the Mount Komorebi world where spirits can spawn and animals can attack, keep an eye on your sims!

There are certain spawns that Collectibles will try to route you to and fail, because they are inaccessible from the current location. In Selvadorada because they're behind gates that haven't been opened, and in Mt. Komorebi's Senbamachi neighborhood because they're above a rock climbing wall. At least in 1.22, haven't verified these yet with 1.23.

The Water pumps you can find frogs in in Oasis Springs aren't included in the Find Collectibles mod, and it'd be practical for simmers who has just gotten the game and installed this particular mod. I also miss it being a cheat because you could queue it until you couldn't hear the "woosh"-like sound when selecting the "Find Collectibles" button. Making it optional to have in the Shift + Left Click menu with testingcheats on, or in the interactions menu on the played sim would be practical

I've gone through and tested this mod to make sure nothing went amok over the past months, and I have it respawning things fine on a fresh save. They come back daily as intended. I'm not sure what might be happening with some players, but if you have any exceptions or any leads as to what might be going wrong, please join my discord (support link on my main mod directory post) to help me help you.

I'm also having difficulties with spawns. It's great for plants, but in some places nothing else but plants will spawn. In Desert Bloom, I can find all the plants, but no minerals, or frogs. Something similar has happened in other Oasis Springs lots, like the gym. In Tartosa, same deal, no Message In a Bottle spawn at all but plenty of plants to harvest. Outdoor retreat bugs seems to spawning well, though I haven't tested it much.

FYI this has started throwing LEs on load in certain neighborhoods (mine was specific to Sulani and the exception report tagged Seagulls, for whatever reason). Could be a mod conflict, but I wanted to give a heads up in case anyone else is getting LEs or spawning issues in load zones.

I keep getting an Attributes error nonetype pop up everytime my sim loads on a lot. Even if i enter a lot to edit, the error pops up. doesnt happen with any other mods, ive tested repeatedly with different mods installed and with just the collectibles.

Would you be willing to separate the collectible actions across type of collectible, and make it a self interaction? I was real excited for this feature, but when I went to use it, I realized I already have a mod that does this (for rocks and frogs), but it's a self interaction and you can choose what to look for. Much more convenient! Plus if you don't necessarily want a certain collectible it speeds up the process. You can find the original on ModTheSims, it's called "Find All Collectibles".

As someone who gardens in almost every new household this is incredibly helpful! now I don't have to make my sims sleep overnight at a bench just to get some more of the more uncommon or harder to get plants for seed packets. This is a problem i never thought would ever be remedied so i just tried to ignore it best i could. But thank you for fixing it! Super annoying and distracts from gameplay.
