Final Poster
🕑 Added 2018-08-10 21:32:04 +0000 UTC I finished it! I actually did 99% of the work last night during the closing hours of Jaded. Here's some interesting (to me) tidbits about how I took the picture I posted last night into this:I really liked the unintentional dark lighting of the original scan, but the woman had to be sized down to fit on the page and obviously I had to clean a lot of the extra stuff up. So I took a texture close up of a tombstone and layered a gradient of off-white to gray as a background. This keeps the shadows but also gives it kind of a 'fuzzy television in a haunted house' feel that while not my original goal, I am very much into.
The drawing/figure herself is pretty awesome - the only instructions I gave to Grotesque Saint were to give me a stand alone figure that conveyed the idea of "spooky" and "Burlesque", and also I'm partial to redheads. They did absolutely amazing with it and delivered the art withing 48 hours! Seriously, they don't charge enough and I'm going to throw more money at them next chance I get.
All I had to do was a little dodge/burning to make the colors more defined, adjust contrast to make it "pop".
This isn't my greatest work, but sometimes the simplest solution is the most elegant one and given that the show is in less than a week sometimes things just have to get done. I still stand by it.
