Standing on the guard is not easy, especially when it comes to protecting the city gates.
I’m sitting on the walls, opening them everyday and waiting for the streams of people to come. Merchants, beggars, travelers, I have to check every one of them if there’s a chance that someone dangerous might becoming.
Also when some noblemen are visiting my city… I don’t even want to talk about it. Instead of 10 hours of work I have to sit there all day. Maybe they pay us more, but I have my own life, for the god's sake!
I have a wife and beautiful son, you know? Being in the town’s watch might be dangerous, but if I don’t decide to jump off the wall I should be safe. I’ve heard that Brant lost an eye in the fight with some thugs yesterday.
Execution will be later today if you would like to watch!
What about the governor? He’s fine, I get my money on time, the city is growing, he even started forming a small army to protect local villages. Oh, army? No, I’ve meant something like… local defence forces..? It has nothing to do with being a trained military, at least that’s what I’ve heard.
If you want to join, look for the flayers, they are all around the city, so you cannot miss them. Or go directly to the chief, Harold Dewitt. He’s the right hand of our governor and will be glad to help.
Ah, I see that the second shift is coming towards us, so it’s time to leave. Most of the guards go to the Green Goblin Inn for a drink, so you can join! Don’t be shy, let me show you what our city has to offer.
